They usually do, at least the Founder's Edition on launch day.

I have a 10% coupon at Best Buy so I'm hoping one of the EVGA 3080 cards go up, otherwise, I'm just going to buy it from whichever retailer I can get it first at.
How did you get a 10% off coupon, if you don't mind me asking?

I don't think there's going to be a huge rebound (and I think £500 is a decent cash-in-hand price), but I can certainly see prices ticking back up when Cyberpunk releases and nobody can find a 3070 - a 2080Ti is pretty close to a drop-in replacement for someone in that market.
I expect a rebound when real market price of the 3080 ends up being 900 and the 3070 600-700. I don't own a TI but if I did I'd be waiting.

That stark difference!

I think the only way this card can fit inside my Ghost S1 case is if I remove everything and only have the graphics card inside it.

I'm one who doesn't care about how the card looks, to be honest. As long its well made and the fans/cooling is good, I'll be satisfied.
I'm looking to buy one to be a some kind of centerpiece lol.

One of my work colleagues has said he might be interested in purchasing my 2080ti for £500. Dunno if that's a good price?

I'm very torn between the 3080 and 3090. The 3090 seems like overkill but the 10GB of VRAM on the 2080 is giving me pause.

10 is fine but the 3080Ti is all but a certainty at this point so you could Do the 80 and upgrade to the Ti in however many months. That's the way I'm probably going to go pending benchmarks (also coming from 2080Ti). I usually always go for the flagship card but the premium for that 24GBs of VRAM is hard to swallow the more I think about it. Normally this would be like the equivalent of the Titan and historically that was more of a content creator's card as opposed to pure gaming and I've never purchased a Titan.

the Ti variant could have 16GBs, will definitely have slightly faster clocks than 80 and based on the pricing of the 70 and 80 could launch at sub-$1000, so I'd just recoup money for the 80, put it towards the Ti and still save a bunch of money over the 90. Even if it has 12GBs that's plenty and in that case I'd guess it would be well under 1000 or even around current 80 price, depending on how far away it is.

Anyway, I will still wait for benchmarks to make a decision.

lmao

you know what? You guys were right. All of these non-reference AIB cards are fucking hideous.

But at the end of the day, if you're going AIB it's for the promise of superior cooling and OC'ing potential. I look forward to the reviews. If they don't have markedly lower temps than the FE's, I'm 100000% going FE. If they are a lot better, I'll get the ugliest card I can find because fuck it.

I specifically want an AIB for the RGB to match the rest of my system. But if you want the ugliest, it's clearly the Game Rock

If you bought a 2080Ti and are already willing to sell it for 1/3rd of what you paid to buy a 3080, lets be honest here, you will be preordering a 4080 well before 10GB is an issue. The VRAM is only an issue for people who intend to keep the 3080 until the 5000 series.

Very much contemplating going for a 3090. I literally have no real need for it but this is looking like a good upgrade.

LOL, gonna have to measure if I have room for my 3080. 1080 Ti is 267 mm, 3080 is 285 mm.

This reminds me of my 14-24mm Nikon f/2.4G lens when I had a D3200 body. It's supposed to be universal, but it's so damn big and the zoom motor can't handle that beast of a lens.

Also, holy shit we need the successor to Silicon. This is 8 nm, we don't get much smaller than this. Queue Simpsons reference of "I predict computers will be so large that only the richest kings of Europe can afford them".

Maybe I should have thought of better wording than "top of the line". I never really looked at the prices of the latest and greatest graphics cards so seeing that $1499 for the 3090 really surprised me.

It's a rebranded Tital which have specific applications.

Also it's for people that insist on having the best when it doesn't make a meaningful difference. Like my Dad spent several hundred dollars more for an Intel Pentium 266 MHz over a 233 MHz and in 2 years neither CPU could handle new software.

Yea, pretty much. It's like stressing out about buying a normal Porsche 911 because it's not the GT3. Like, the GT3 isn't for you to drive around in stop and go traffic and top out at 76mph; it's for people who track their cars.

What's the best case these days if you don't want tempered glass or RGB bullshit?

still tempered, but I think this is maybe the best reviewed case of 2020.

Interesting that most people think the 3080 is cheap (me included), but a console at $599 would probably be a "hmmmm, not sure".

There are a lot of factors here. People use their computers for more than just gaming. Also, video cards will essentially carry the same price tag until it's replaced while consoles will get slim models, bundles, discounts, upgraded models, etc.

Video cards will also yield better performance on thousands of games (plus productivity apps) day 1 while the console may or may not have someone worthwhile for months.

Stupid question but was there any mention of the 20vram card? I remember seeing something about a model containing it which wasn't shown?

These cards can play all the PC games you already own at enhanced fidelity

They will also be able to play any PC game from any storefronts

A PS5 will only play what Sony lets it play

So, I was going to go 3080, but then I looked at the price for 4k monitors - I really like 144 refresh rates, but the cheapest I can find is around $700 or so, which is more than I want to spend on a monitor. That being said, if I'm just going to get a really good 1440p monitor, does it make more sense just to get the 3070, or should I just ball out on 1440p with the 3080?

Get the 3080 if you will want to keep close to 1440p 144fps in future AAA stuff

ASUS 3080 STRIX OC – 849 GBP
Nvidia 3080 FE – 649 GBP

Asus prices are insane. Their 3080 Strix card has 200 GBP premium over Founder's Edition, and for what exactly? FE is a robust card and cooler made from premium materials. Is Asus cooler made of gold? No. It looks like plastic junk compared to FE. I've been a long time Asus GPU fan, but screw them, this is insulting to entire PC community what they are doing. And it's not just Asus but other AIBs doing this too (just not to the same extent as Asus). Paying 1 euro/gbp/dollar extra over MSRP for AIB card over FE card is a waste.

Who needs Asus when the FE looks soo nice and is 200 bucks less?!

Ballout with the 3080 and 1440p 144hz. The 3080 will ensure you'll keep hitting that high frame rate with maxed out settings for a good long while. You could also get an LG OLED TV for when you really want 4k.

The 3080 is "cheap" in how it appears to be on par if not better than the 3070 in performance per dollar when in models past the xx60 or xx70 were the peak of it
