I have no issues also. Playing on External.Seriously? That's interesting. I'll make sure to install it on the internal then.
Do you by chance have a TV with VRR? That would explain it.

Imagine finishing/polishing games before slapping them on a disc and selling them to consumers. It's such an alien concept...
Games and 3d software are the only products I buy that are consistently shit at release. Software developers need higher standards instead of relying on the shitty "release broken, patch later" philosophy.
50-60 at native 4K is good enough for me. I'll never notice drops that minor
Same I bet it's hardly noticeable. That said I still really hope they can get to a locked 60fps/4K on X soon with further optimization.
More than 4 hours in & not a single major perfomnce issue on the Xbox One X with the game installed on the internal HD.
Some of y'all consoles/Hard-drives are either busted or you haven't cleared the cache in a while (un-plug the console, wait 10/15 mins & press on the on/off button for 10 seconds before plugging the console back in & turning it on)

I agree but i bet all the push and rush is from the publisher wanting to get it out and not the developer having low standards
ori has already been delayed once too
They did some new things for that version. I mean it was 4 years later it released and they optimized and changed stuff.Very curious, considering the Switch version of Ori runs better than any other version, including the PC version.

So if you cant notice any frame drops doesnt that mean you cant notice any performance issues, therefore meaning it plays well? 🤔People really need to stop with their magic consoles somehow not having any framerate issues. You just can't notice any of the frame drops. Will be interesting to see what DF says once their video is out.
Edit: Video covering the new patch
Performance is still variable but quite an improvement. From the footage available is looking more 50-60, which is much better but still off from a smooth 60. Hoping for further patches.
To be fair reviewers played the build on the right. The patch landed just a few hours ago and the version on the left is what was printed on physical disks a few months back. The only way anyone would play this is they would insert the physical retail disk into an offline console and play that way. Reviewers got early access digital codes and played the press review version. I knew this video would confuse people so felt that it's important to point out.
Performance is more important than 4K, so that's pretty disappointing.
Was the first game 60fps @ full 1080p on the base Xbox One? If so, this one almost sounds like a downgrade in terms of gameplay experience.
I dislike it when developers prioritize resolution over performance.
Well that's dissapointing to hear, also wouldn't be a Framerate analysis thread without people with magic consoles or people arguing Framerate drops don't matter.Installed the brand new patch and tested some areas out, no changes at all. But if some of you have an Xbox One X, test it out for yourself. This exact position with the Ori head has 2 mosquito, one snail on the right and one red blobb, fighting there, after doing it 3 more times, I would even argue it goes under 30, maybe 25, it runs horrendous there.
Fighting in the area with the red dot also drops to easily 40 and under, it feels like slow motion when you jump around and hit attack.
Playing it on PC and, unfortunately, even on a 144hz G-sync monitor, there's notable and fairly consistent judder. My strong guess is that it's judder caused by streaming assets, because that's generally the only kind of judder that manifests on a g-sync display. It's not too terrible, but it does very strongly take away from the feeling of a perfectly smooth game.
Also, because I'm sure people are curious, the game is installed on an M2 drive, so I couldn't really do better in the hard drive department.
Or maybe don't have magic consoles and some people consoles are having issues?Well that's dissapointing to hear, also wouldn't be a Framerate analysis thread without people with magic consoles or people arguing Framerate drops don't matter.
This happens in almost all performance threads of games with Framerate drops. Some people just aren't sensitive to these things or just aren't bothered by them but that doesn't mean they're not there. Sometimes in the past it has been the result of memory leaks or other factors that can make performance inconsistent but that doesn't seem to be the case so far. Will know more when VGTech and Digital Foundry go hands on.Or maybe don't have magic consoles and some people consoles are having issues?
Like the issues that edge is having at the frequency they are having it at doesn't seem to be the norm.
Just started playing on my One X and huh. I was not expecting the very beginning of the game to already be running at 40-50 fps.
The scene after the bird tries to fly has a heavier framerate drop too. Maybe less than 20 fps? Felt broken to me
Hmm, will have to try that tomorrow. I only tested like the first 10 minutes (basically just the prologue) and the performance was beyond awfulI ran into the same issue during my first Xbox One X test a few days ago, which had been on for roughly 60 days in a row without a power cycle. (No other software seems to have issues with this.) Do a complete power cycle of your xbox one x and see if that helps. That worked for me. I guess they didn't diagnose that bug after all.
Or 1080p. Resolution over framerate is the weirdest decision, it's essentially about looking good at screenshots, not when playing.I'll never understand why games on console run at native 4K when they drop frames constantly. There's nothing wrong with 1620p or 1440p.
So since I didn't have anything to do at the moment, I tried restarting my Xbox and you're right, seems like this fixed my performance issues. I have a new problem though. The initial loading time now takes forever! I was just staring at Ori running for what seemed like forever, followed by a black screen that lasted just as long. Then when I finally get to the title screen (and hope that the title screen even loads properly), loading my save file takes like another minute or more. I tried restarting the game three times and the result was the same everytime.I ran into the same issue during my first Xbox One X test a few days ago, which had been on for roughly 60 days in a row without a power cycle. It's just odd they didn't use the dynamic resolution they're using on the One S. I'd much prefer the game to with dynamic resolution and some reconstruction before they ever start dropping the resolution cap. Though it doesn't have solid performance on the One S with dynamic resolution either so maybe the performance problems aren't resolution based.I'll never understand why games on console run at native 4K when they drop frames constantly. I feel like a 4x decrease from 4K to 1080p for 10FPS drops is pretty extreme.Or 1080p. Resolution over framerate is the weirdest decision, it's essentially about looking good at screenshots, not when playing.
I don't have a dedicated gaming PC anymore so if the Steam version is fine but the X version has performance issues because of forced 4K then I'll have to avoid this for now.

I wish I was exaggerating but I'm not. It literally takes more than 5 minutes just to get to the title screen for me.
Hard reset the xbox that worked for me I had the same slow down. I also cleared the bluray storage just in case.Hmm, will have to try that tomorrow. I only tested like the first 10 minutes (basically just the prologue) and the performance was beyond awful
