Can someone tell me what happened to the april fools compilation thread? I can't find it anywhere.
No I know, thanks for being understanding. :D I'm glad I popped in here and asked despite it all. I've been following the thread since January.I haven't attacked or insulted you!
You are all up to speed now, so hopefully that's the end of this.
I find the 'not real journalists' thing kinda dumb when most real journalists are also just writing a top 10 Marvel movies listicle somewhere.
I said this elsewhere, but enthusiast press of any kind suffers from a dearth of journalists, and it isn't an expectation of hard hitting journalism, but a question of just following journalistic practices. Get statements, get quotes, seek specialists (as clearly the people doing the writing often demonstrate that they know jack shit of what they're writing about). I will say that the gaming media demonstrates the latter far more extensively though.I find the 'not real journalists' thing kinda dumb when most real journalists are also just writing a top 10 Marvel movies listicle somewhere.
Loom.Help me remember a game on Steam.
Exploration Adventure/walking sim game where you are trying to figure out an alien language as it's core puzzle idea and mechanic.
More recent than that, perhaps the last four years. The game I'm trying to recall is of the Vanishing of Ether Carter and Firewatch type variety of adventure game.

Basic dotting of Ts and Is.
There are definitely good and bad journalists, but they *are* journalists.

It's sad how true this is
Er yes, this commonly happens and commonly pisses fanbases off.So, when someone says say, soccer team x fans are assholes, do you think literally everyone that likes that team takes offense to it or that person means literally everyone? Or is it clearly talking about the hooligans that headbutt people?
"Heaven's vault" maybe ?
edit: wait no, thats upcoming, your looking for something already released.
The WitnessNot The Solus Project or Obduction. I believe it was less visually distinct than either of those . My vague memory of of a screenshot remembers just a monolith with words on it, and us talking about it in a previous thread (might have been on the other site) about how it would be a good idea to write down notes to try and figure it out.
It's because of Heaven's Vault I'm actually looking for the older game. A friend of mine loves the concept and putting together a language based off clues and wants to find others like it.
When you are paranoid enough of gaming outlets that you end up questioning whether PC Gamer mentioning in passing the small possibility of the upcoming announcement of Index being an April Fools prank is some kind of forced negative note against Steam that all articles need to have, starting a short pile up on them, like just happened towards the end of the last March thread, then maaaaaybe it'd be good for you to take pause for a sec and seriously consider the merits of why you might be seen by others as rabid fans akin to GGers. Sure, you are not, but maybe think of better ways to bring your message across?
I mean, I kinda expressly pointed out that wasn't my own thinking. Or else I wouldn't be still here reading.
Pretty sure nobody here has rallied the lads to harass peopleWhen you are paranoid enough of gaming outlets that you end up questioning whether PC Gamer mentioning in passing the small possibility of the upcoming announcement of Index being an April Fools prank is some kind of forced negative note against Steam that all articles need to have, starting a short pile up on them, like just happened towards the end of the last March thread, then maaaaaybe it'd be good for you to take pause for a sec and seriously consider the merits of why you might be seen by others as rabid fans akin to GGers. Mr Orange is getting a tag after he steps down.
yeah i know, but a lot of them are "same weapon but now you can hold down the button for bigger range" and even if they were all different a list is just a bad way to nagivate themMost of the prosethic items aren't upgrades tho, just different attacks with different ups and downs. Like giving the lance a sweep or a strong thrust attack.
Speak for yourself. I've rallied dozens to fight against PC Gamer.
Alien monoliths brings to mind the game" kairo " , but i cant recall if there are linguistic puzzles in it .My vague memory of of a screenshot remembers just a monolith with words on it
But have you RISEN UP?!!Speak for yourself. I've rallied dozens to fight against PC Gamer.
DOZENS!

Hilarious. Good luck, gentlemen.

Hey, you started it with your ridiculous GG comparison. Bad takes tend to be ridiculed.

I don't just live one life
Cant wait for your level up party
Check out either The Talos Principle or The Turing Test.Neither Witness nor Kairo . I wish I had more to go on. Thanks for trying to help me out.
Not it either, but does help my friend out to add games like this to her list, so thank you.
Having an emotional reaction to something does not mean it's a valid reaction, especially when it ignores all context like it did in that Imran tweet.
I probably muddied the waters too much with my soccer metaphor. Let's take it to say, League of Legends or Call of Duty communities. Say someone generalized the often toxic behavior of that community. Is the entire fanbase of those games justified in getting angry? Do you expect say, the Black Ops 4 OT to get mad when someone makes cracks about 12 years old being racist on mic? Or do LoL mentors and similar minded simply recognize the reality of their fandom and take it in stride that maybe the conversation isn't about them?
I mean, realistically, both should happen. Recognising the toxicity of a community is the first step in trying to get rid of that toxicity. At the same time, over-reacting to every bit of criticism and correcting everyone/everything is also bad - it's how you get "Not all men". It's basically walking a fine-line between seeing there's a problem and fixing it, and not being paranoid and having a persecution complex.
Anyways...
PC gaming. Woo! I got a question:
Are there any games like Horizon: Zero Dawn on PC? Specifically, are there any games that are:
Third Person
Open World
RPG-Light (Skill Points, Progression, Weapon Improvement)
Woman as main character
If not, are there any that are close? Obviously they also have to be good. :) The best I can come up with are The Witcher games, GTA 5 and maybe AssCreed Odyssey?
Darksiders 2? Though not a female main lead.
I guess Darksiders 3 would fit that role but I havent played it yet so I'm not sure if it holds the RPG light elements.
Speak for yourself I've risen 2 inchesGamers rise up memes are hysterical, and I can safely say that since they're all ironic anyway
