You're missing out on the best RPG of this decade, as the premier reviewer of RPGs has definitively declared it to be.
It has a ton of flaws (befitting something with less than 11 months of full production), but in terms of the things it attempts (narrative, structure, setting), it's the best DA game IMO.

Origins just oozes generic. Visuals, music, story... it's basically "We Made a Fantasy RPG v1". The gameplay is interesting, but it sort of straddles the generations, from the heyday of BioWare to the modern whatever it is that they do now, and doesn't truly excel anywhere. And Inquisition never really comes together. The entire thing lacks focus, and clearly lacked the time and money needed to pull it off.

DA2 at least had a glimmer of an idea of what it truly wanted to be, even if they weren't able to make a full-fledged game out of it.

It's because they think Rimworld is a fetish porn game.
Isn't that the one where the developer thinks only women can be bisexual (bi men are just gay men in denial)? Hard to feel sympathy if reviewers choose to pass on that nonsense.

That's not GOG like at all. It's closer to Steam than it is GOG.

Steam - Steamworks exists, but it is 100% optional, no store wide policy on DRM. Thousands of games available DRM free as a result.
Epic - Nothing provided, no store wide policy. Will likely end up like Steam in the future, with indies not using any DRM but large publishers using third party DRM solutions and anti-tampering like Denuvo.
GOG - Nothing provided, store wide policy of 100% no DRM, ever.
I meant not needing the store client to launch the game which gog has as a default option for all games and steam has only a few.
I was not extending my comment beyond that

Can't say, haven't really tried either to compare, not that I think access to quality drugs is important for a game developer. (I assume you meant "pot", and your phones autocorrect just messed it up)
As others have already pointed out, it's just a stupid joke 😅

And that is another reason why Steam Reviews are important

I think there is a problem with GameRankings because the game has a couple more reviews on MetaCritic.

I highly doubt that even a fraction of a percent of potential reviewers for Rimworld would know this AND actively avoid reviewing the game because of it.
(didn't hear about this myself.)

And if it stays at 1 review with 97%, I don't think the developer will lose sleep over it. The game sold gangbusters in Early Access

That's a real shame.

RimWorld is right up there with Crusader Kings II and Farming Simulator as my absolute favorite titles from the past 10 years.

It got a ton of coverage in its Alpha state from the places that I frequent so a lot of places probably didn't realize that it had hit 1.0. Also there's a lot of stuff out in general.

I started up Elex today and I think I'm going to have a good time with it. I just think it's hilarious that piranha bytes still has that terrible voice acting that goes back to Gothic 1.

That dude's balls have to be dragging across the ground when he walks. I could never take the game seriously.

You guys talking about the English voice acting? If it's so bad, maybe just use the German one, and use English subtitles, if the game allows that combination.

Lmao I can't say I blame them at least.

Reminds me of when the Arrow sub started only posting about Daredevil, haha.

I haven't gotten anything so far

Edit: Actually, one of my 2 reddit accounts did get a password reset email early yesterday or the day before, but only the one.

Rimworld not getting reviews seems to be an issue of Early Access debuts struggling for reviews, at least partially. Unless you've got major hype and console versions, a lot of of sites that will review a game like Rimworld have either written a ton of articles about it already, or are very small.

Add to that things like it being a fairly niche genre

I doubt it was the bisexual stuff because RPS reviewed it and they are one of the sites that typically take umbrage with that sort of behavior. I'd wager they didn't paper the web with access keys in the way say, Unknown Worlds did with Subnautica, which also had similar controversies. And even that, half that game's reviews are for the console version.

I wanted to check to see if Monster Boy was coming to Steam, and I found PS4 and Switch bug reports in the useless Steam Community. 😄

There is a 15.4GB FFXV patch just went live. I know one thing it adds is the FFXIV collab side-quests... I'd like to see full-patch notes though tbh. Hope it doesn't mess up Special-K.

Huh, no OT claimed for Insurgency: Sandstorm. Released today. Was hoping for performance impressions on 9xx series cards.

Epic Games Store was pinging my CPU for like 90 percent a moment ago.

Likely triggered by my updating to the newest Nvidia driver somehow (happened right after). Couldn't even close it and bring it back up, had to do a restart.

Is Awakening essential? I've heard it's hard.
I wouldn't say it's essential or difficult, but if you want more DAO it will be that for you. The companion(s) in Awakening have some crossover in 2, but they're rewritten to the point of being unrecognisable so it isn't really necessary to see them in there. The story is kind of its own tangent that doesn't connect to anything in the grand scheme of things, IIRC, though it has been a while since I last played it.

If you can get it cheap, go for it.

Yeah, I already have the goty or whatever version. There's just a ton of DLC and I was wondering how deep down the rabbit hole I needed to go if I could manage to get back into origins.

finished my last semester of school so I started playing dark souls 3. Never played any of the souls games before but god damn this game was truly amazing - probably in my top 5 of all time. Started playing it and immediately played like 10 hours a day for a week straight lol. I did a blind singleplayer playthrough using a quality ultra greatsword build. It trivialized some mechanics and made some bosses ridiculously hard. Top 3 bosses in terms of difficulty for me was dragonslayer armor >>>>>>>>>> twin princes >> nameless king.

I'm now moving on to some DS1 remastered.

You should play it, then. It's relatively short and sets up the Architect and some other interesting lore bits that come into play later in the series.

The actual DLC aren't necessary, though they're all really short, so if you do get back into it, you may as well play them. Most of the stuff has relevance in future plots.

I got one of those GMG mystery game things, the $40 with 20 games. Unsurprisingly it was all shit and/or stuff I've never heard of. The highlight appears to be table top racing world.

Thankfully I went into this with the mindset that I was basically going to pay off RE2 now instead of jan. so I can walk away feeling like I didn't just waste $40 lol.

the little witch academia game is uhhh a bit troubled lol

i didn't have high expectations cos everyone shat on this game but i believe in trying things for yourself and...

1XV7jv8.jpg

only played for like an hour and a half but it's easy to tell this game is not gonna be very good. the setup is very cool, mixing the majora's style day repeating structure with a bit of persona's management of life inside and outside the dungeons. all that is very good so far, i really like the art and the writing and it even has little bits of fully animated scenes that look as beautiful as the show itself

what at least in my initial impression is likely to be pretty bad is the dungeon crawling side of the game, which feels very stiff and lacks that good feedback you get when you punch bad guys in good games. it's not necessarily broken (although amanda once went nuts and started wildly vibrating) but it's not very fun, and i'm guessing there's loads of this in the game. it seems like you have a fair bit of customization and amanda does feel better than akko so maybe once i try everyone out i'll find a setup i enjoy more. it does look like it'll be a grindy game...

also the game really looks very much like a budget game, the character models are pretty great but the level art is pretty rough and it just looks like it needs a ton of polish everywhere, from the hilariously useless map to the awkward menus to the overly obtuse controls to the super slow pacing of the start, or not explaining how saving works until like an hour in so i had to shut down the game at half an hour and then i realized it didn't autosave and i had to play through all of that again (which goes really fast cos this game is made by good people that let you skip its cutscenes/dialogue)

i'm gonna play it a while longer at the very least, because tonally the game is spot on and i really love this show, but we'll see if the grind gets to me

honestly i do kind of prefer a game like this than the upcoming kill la kill game that seems like it'll be mostly a fighting game. like i just want to spend more time with these characters and these worlds, i don't need a game to be much more than a vessel for that, but i really want the game to deliver on that part

edit: i forgot to mention it runs like poop on my computer and you can't turn off features that are probably fairly significant performance hogs like depth of field lol

tho boy this game looks pretty great sometimes

It's a bit of a mix.

The core Awakening campaign is great and has super cool lore implications. EDIT: I just remembered that there is still an unfixed bug in Awakening that can really ruin your day (it ruined mine); when you get to a situation where you're in a forest with a new elf companion, make sure you save often and in multiple slots. There's a sequence where you get kidnapped and the game takes away all your equipped gear for all your characters. You're supposed to go through the mission and they are supposed to give you all your gear back, but due to a bug, about 50% of the time, your gear is gone forever. You need to have a save from BEFORE you get captured, or else every time you try to go back, it'll keep your gear gone. If you do get caught by it (like I did) and don't have a save to go back to, you can mod your gear back in, painstakingly, using some HEX editing, but it's a real pain in the ass.

Leliana's DLC campaign (Leliana's Song) is a short little set of missions that will explain (or at least flesh out) why Leliana is the way she is in 2/Inquisition. It's kind of a Leliana origin story.

The Golems of Amgarrak is a combat focused campaign that was made for the fans that wanted an extra challenging dungeon crawl. It has no lore implications that I can remember and the story for it is pretty meh, but the fights are pretty intense and interesting.

Witch Hunt is a very short mini-campaign that bridges the gap between Origins/Awakening and Inquisition, believe it or not. It means a whole lot more if you romanced Morrigan, but even if you didn't, it has a couple little lore tidbits.

The Darkspawn Chronicles is a "what if?" situation where you play a non-canon version of the ending of Origins where the Darkspawn win. You play as a variety of different Darkspawn creatures. It's a fun little gimmick, but it feels kinda half baked. But it's always nice to be able to kill Zevran again.

Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, and The Stone Prisoner are all integrated into the base Dragon Age game. Warden's Keep and Return to Ostagar are singular missions/dungeon crawls with some unique gear to nab and little tidbits of lore. The Stone Prisoner gives you access to a playable character (a tank golem named Shale) who is super cool, but because she was DLC, is only kinda half integrated into the whole story.

The lore order to play everything is:
Dragon Age Origins (inc Warden's Keep, Return to Ostagar, and The Stone Prisoner)
Awakening
Leliana's Song
Golems of Amgarrak
Witch Hunt

and then Darkspawn Chronicles for a laugh, if you care.

Clearly, they only learned on epic making a competing service two days ago! Also A coincidence they started offering their biggest sellers a better revenue share two weeks ago .

Interesting tho could you elaborate how thid could help devs and pubs?

They now get better picture what is driving their views. They have more data than before so they can use it in various ways. For example now they can see which countries are interested or not in their game so they can change things to make people from those countries more interested in their game. They now get complete traffic breakdown so they know where their views are coming from. And so on.

Putting up a steam store page to get all the stats, then use the stats to close out a big exclusivity deal. Genius!

Does an embed actually count as a view without visiting the store page?

Lets explain this better:
-The better revenue share was already in effect for a long time. It was just writing on paper what has been reality for a lot of years. It was not a reaction to Epic (more likely a reaction to Bethesda Launcher tbh).
Edit: not "already in effect". However the 30% was rather fluid and this decision seems to me more about trying to stop individual dealings with big publishers and have everything written (which would help indies too, having a better objective).

-This seems more of a reaction to the October bug, when developers saw their traffic drop and didn't know the reasons why. Them giving the developers more tools to understand the issues with visibility and help them improve them while they can actively work on the discoverability code. EDIT: it seems that this was announced more than 8 months ago, so yeah. Clearly influenced by Epic.

But sure, it was all thanks to Epic! Same when we get the new UI early next year. Thanks to Epic too!
