Yusuke is my favorite character so I'm something of an apologist but he's seriously not like that outside the Madarame arc. I like to think it's not a problem with his character but rather the game's writing in general, which immediately shits the bed hardcore after the Kamoshida arc and never recovers until Royal's minor course correction. He's such a sweetheart in his confidant and the fluff scenes throughout the game. 😭
For sure. I hated his guts in vanilla P5 but Royal put me on team Akechi. They don't try to redeem him, per se, as much as they quintuple down on all his worst traits and it's a lot of fun.
Really? Ann has always kind of been towards the bottom when comparing the p5 cast.
I don't understand Makoto's popularity in the slightest. Like I fucking hate Akechi's bitch ass but I at least understand why he's popular. There are tons of people out there who will write essays about Akechi. There's like a billion Akechi memes. But like 99% discussion of Makoto seems to just be "Makoto best girl" and "her persona is cool". I don't know what about her justifies her being so absurdly popular.
On top of "motorcycle cool," I guess she comes across as hyper competent among the cast? Dunno.
As someone who thinks her social link to be one of the worst and who's generally not a huge fan of her, I don't particularly get it either. Different strokes though, I assume some wouldn't get why I'm into some of the characters as much as I am as well.

It's not just the Madarame arc, he has a lot of creeper scenes throughout. I still like him more than Morgana, though.
Unfortunately, I have to agree that the writing dropped in quality after Kamoshida, and it got especially dire during the Hawaii trip/Haru arc/Sae's casino arc. And I absolutely hated how they wrapped things up with Shido and then presented the "true antagonist". But I thought Royal's 3rd semester did a lot to redeem the game. I can't imagine how I would've felt if I had played vanilla P5.
Makoto beat Akechi. Justice was served.
Pretty good top 10, Akechi aside. I would also never count the main character in polls like these, but that's just me.

We should have had the option to keep him as the navigator throughout that entire section of the game if you ask me.
Futaba is great and all, but I've been hearing her for most of the game by then. Not to mention hearing Makoto say for the millionth time "The enemy is strong" got old really fast. He could replace the strategist role too as far as I'm concerned.
Yeah I remember seeing this before so I was curious if the rankings changed in the West since the rankings in Japan changed after a few years.
I have no problem with people liking villains in fact in some series my favorite characters are the villain the main problem I have with Akechi is he wasn't done well at all.
