So that 4 players co-op thing, will there be a thread on ERA for people who are interested? I got no friends who play Pokemon and I really want to try it out, maybe we can do a pm or something for people interested?

One of the benefits I have not getting Shield at launch (low on money and someone already getting me it for the Holidays) is going to be able to be able to see the full reviews, the full returning Pokemon roster and who is in what game. Bad side bad side of course is avoiding plot spoilers.

So a separate purchase? Or are they just taking about purchasing NSO in-game. But why only Pokémon has that specific message when technically you can buy subscription in-game for any online game?

Just being able to explore or shiny hunt with friends is gonna be enough for me. After all PvP and trading is the main multiplayer stuff and that doesn't require a specific place
I really think it'd be cool if Impidimp evolved into a gargoyle of some kind but that's just wishful thinking.
Pokemon Home compatiability perhaps? Maybe there's a purchase option for Home in the game itself.
(We can assume Home is going to charge a subscription of some kind?)
it does raise the question of what happens when a person gets into battle. do the other players spectate, they go into battle alongside the person, or keep running around? do everyone see the same pokemon or not?
it won't be unusual to people to expect to do more than just run around together, which is why I hope this won't be a hollow, window-dressing experience
I hope we DONT see the same Pokémon. If someone steals my shinies friendship over.
And walking around won't be the only thing as there are Raids, Camping and Cooking, which is just enough to have a good time. It's not like they have advertised the features beyond this either

Ever since when Gen 3 altered several of the shinies for Pokemon, have they ever changed a Pokemon's shiny? Nothing really is stopping them adding more re-skin like regional shinies for some.

I want a whole new tier of shinies :( not sure if they would need separate textures ballooning the file size or if they can just apply filters to them though.
they can always do group catch, or have the person who instigated the battle be the only one to catch and knockout the pokemon
The problem is you may not want to always battle a Pokémon at the same time of the other person. If they allowed you to join the battle after someone already initiated it then I'd be ok with it
Nothing in main games, I know Pokken had some different colour schemes because you needed them in a fighting game to differentiate the fighters. Some good colours in there, some weird ones like the Pikachu with pants as well.
(This ain't all of them, missing the DLC Ones in there)
And there's Smash as well which has stuff like fan-dubbed Big the Cat coloured Incineroar.
That's also the one used for the Big the Cat Spirit battle as well.
Fan content for this IP is pretty frequently questionable. I remember reading what was one of the most popular fan comics and feeling sick because they basically introduced blood to battles.

party rules and whatnot can be toggled probably. co-operative fighting and catching pokemon should be there as an option at least if they're gonna have 4-player play
Fortunately the only real fancomic ive read was that fuckin Pokemon X pixel comic, I remember reading that in like 2008-2010 as a early teen and it had awful Tim Buckley style self insert intermissions
There are versions with and without the full dex, several pokemon have stat/ability/movelist/type changes (water/fighting dewott and samurott for example), the AI is generally more competent across the board, trainers' teams get mixed up a bit and they generally have more and/or higher level pokemon. I think there was even a version of one of them that adds fairy type to the games, but I don't recall playing that one. There are also fun moments like Zapdos popping up in a dust cloud while you're in Chargestone Cave

The Pokemon battles with blood was bad so I tried reading what looked like a well drawn Mystery Dungeon manga and it literally begins with decapitation lol
The golden age of original ROM hacks ended as Gen 5 began. Pokémon Brown, Liquid Crystal, Shiny Gold X, Orange, Azure Horizons were all really good. Azure Horizons was unfinished, but the polish was amazing.
Nowadays, there's less that's interesting enough to play through since ROM hacking hasn't advanced past the point of FireRed/LeafGreen hacks. You can make stuff with Pokémon Essentials, but it's not the same and is usually an imitation.
I typically tend to avoid ROM hacks that just modify the original games since it's basically the same game with better Pokémon distribution.
The ROM hacking scene was so lively, and now it's basically all dead :/
it was just called pokemon x, it was a pixel comic in that it used sprite art instead of digital/hand drawing. Looking it up, its still going..... 16 years later.... and they have a patreon, holy shit. I couldnt imagine dedicating 16 years of my life to a fan comic.

There's also tons of human/pokemon fan-fiction which is extremely questionable. TotalEclipse (Dawn/Darkai) is extremely popular for some reason
Speaking of Romhacks, I've been playing Pokemon XG. Adding fairy type and gen VI mechanics/moves definitely made battles more interesting. Along with this level scaling, hoo boy. Orre region has such amazing music.
Prob just going to be for bullshitting around for a few weeks. Tho since everyone will be trying to get Raid mons it might be active for a while.
Probably for Pokemon Home, I wouldn't be surprised if you could directly access it from within the game after a patch. Would be a kick in the balls considering that there would be Pokemon you can't transfer but it does make some sense.
Huh, that explains a lot why the Battle Scenes got so detailed and accurate to the actual area you are battling in while also becoming quite big despite the stinted scaling for the Pokemon Models, they also double as the Pokemon Camp campsites like how Pokemon Refresh does.I still don't know what starter to chose, they've all grown on me a lot.
that shit gonna die so quickly. GF isn't aiming for a live service, so I don't have too much expectations for online features to be expanded in the future. hence why I hope there's other stuff to do since it seems likely that even cooperative play will die quickly.

I recently checked the old websites I used to use to find romhacks and it looks like people figured out how to modify maps and scripts in the DS games but at this point the scene is so dead that no one is really taking advantage of it (although I assume there's some Assembly going on which probably makes the barrier to entry extra high). It's really disappointing considering how prolific GBA romhacks were.
Pokecommunity is a graveyard compared to what it once was, dedicated forums just aint like they used to be.
Most Pokémon fanganes these days are either made in custom engines entirely or, funnily enough hacked woth Gen 1 or 2 roms as a codebase due to disassemlblies making it drastically eaaier apply custom scripts to them.
It's gonna happen soon and it'll be a great time. Datamining of Sun and Moon was fun watching people laugh when seeing that everyone in Alola was slow af.
