I have. It sucked. It was cool for like an hour, but it's still at the gimmick stage. It'll take a bit before audiences sit down and VR for hours a day.
Which HMD did you try and why did it suck? What problems did you experience?

They forgot "because in a couple of years new tech will release that will make the current setups obsolete"
I think I'll wait, thank you.
I don't agree. While Rift has the worst sensor setup of the bunch by far, it still offers the best experience with the touch controllers and a very comfortable headset (especially with something like VR Cover). The Rift headset is very light: 470 grams (and that's including headphones). Compare that to the Samsung Odyssey at 645g. That extra weight makes a big difference. If you can manage the potentially massive headache of getting 3-4 sensors up for roomscale, then I think the Rift is the best VR headset out there currently.
That I had goggles, joy sticks, and not a cool ass Sword Art Online experience. What I got was a bunch of men in anime avatars roleplaying together while some people screamed obscenities in the background.Which HMD did you try and why did it suck? What problems did you experience?

The Vive is the best overall product but needing external headphones is a pain and the wands are heavy and uncomfortable, especially for something like Beat Saber. Really looking forward to the knuckles though...that might give Valve my top spot. Still, the Vive is an easy recommendation due to how well Lighthouse works. 2 sensors, no USB needed and you're done. Compare that to the Rift where you have to deal with active USB extensions, balancing USB host controller bandwidth, and a poor setup experience (Oculus sensor setup software suuucks), and the Vive is just a much easier recommendation.
Personally, I can't even use Windows MR headsets due to the clamp design. My head is somewhat oddly shaped in the back and the headset just slides down the back of my head during active play regardless of the clamping force I put on it. And at a high clamping force its really uncomfortable. If you're looking to get serious in VR shooters such as Onwards with gun stocks and whatnot, you're also going to run into issues finding compatible mounts since Vive and Rift are by far the most supported platforms. The biggest issue though is they really haven't nailed down controller tracking and occlusion issues are not infrequent. Any occlusion issue is a no-go for me. I don't want a controller to fail tracking while I'm trying to full combo a song in Beat Saber.
I've heard that the Pimax has noticeable latency. Have they fixed this? I'd just be wary of backing a one off Kickstarter from China. I really don't expect any support for it going forward.
If you're just looking to dabble, then WMR is fine. If you want to get into more serious Roomscale experiences, then I'd seriously consider looking at the Vive. If you want a more comfortable experience and don't have the space for 360 degree roomscale, then get Oculus.

Ionno why you act like I haven't used VR. Do you think current VR will win everyone over or that people are just doing it wrong?
Pretty sure the odysse plus weighs less, and its optics fov screen and resolution vlows the oculus out of the water. Its rhe much more immersive experience. I own both and have owned or bowworwed the previois Samsung odyssey, the vive, and the psvr.
The odysseys weight never bothered me or my 5 yo son.
VR sucks right now. To do it well you need sensors and shit which is fucking weird overall.
It's the worst time to get VR. Wait for PS5 and new VR tech that comes around then.
I am not going to explain my setup. You either believe I have used VR or you don't. That is your choice.Im asking simple questions, which HMD did you use? Don't you even know what the name of the HMD is? You probably played VRChat or something, that's what it sounds like.
You are simply bad at describing what you used, that's why Im doubting you.
I have played Moss. Not much of it, but it is cool as well :) I want to try Echos but unfortunately its not on PSVROne of the greatest things of experiencing VR at the 'begining' so far to me is exactly to see how devs are learning to use VR better.
The jump from Playroom VR to Astrobot is amazing!
Imagine what other teams will achieve soon!
When you compare some of the first wave of VR games to what we have now is crazy that in a so short time games evolved so much in scope, visuals and mechanics.
If you haven't played yet I recommend you Moss!

Me too. My only issue is I can only play Vr for maybe 1 hour at a time at most. Plus I'm really lazy and don't like putting the headset on. It's either borderlands or far cry new dawn.
Why do I need to explain what I used when my first post is wanting future technology and using that as a base for why I don't like VR now?If you can't even say if you used a Rift, VIVE, PSVR or any of the Windows Mixed Reality headsets, then no I don't believe you. So you just came into this thread to torll about how much VR sucks right now without even explaining what you used.
Why do I need to explain what I used when my first post is wanting future technology and using that as a base for why I don't like VR now?
You came at me with a conclusion instead of reading what I posted. Either you are super defensive about VR place in the gaming world or you really hate me.
Indeed, but current VR tech is not good enough to be mainstream.

This is definitely NOT the best time to invest in VR.

I was already pretty fucking clear. I want some wireless head shit with gloves to simulate hands and a better way to move within the virtual space. I want Sword Art Online, not hobble around a room with sensors.

If you don't get that then that is 100% on you. Like, it was in my fucking posts.

As someone who pretty regularly plays firewall for a few hours every few days, speak for yourself.I have. It sucked. It was cool for like an hour, but it's still at the gimmick stage. It'll take a bit before audiences sit down and VR for hours a day.
Sometimes you got to show a little power to make some people accept what you're saying or else they continue on their wayward way. Notice how his tune changed? Yeah. It works. *flex*

"True" in the most generic and misleading way. Everyone is expecting new tech in VR, and here's an article telling everyone to buy the "old" tech. Fishy.

The Teslasuit is expecting to release in the next couple of years, and it's basically the body suit from Ready Player One minus a kickback force powerful enough to send you flying backwards. It's still enough to force you back a bit and add recoil to your wrists. How far off are body suits as a complement to VR?
Imagine a blend of ray-tracing, 4k+ res, VR and full body suit-controls...damn...I just hope I'll have enough money and be alive to witness it. The future truly is exciting.

The wire is an issue only with room tracking, and only in games where you turn around a lot (for example escape room games). Why is it not good enough?
Imo, my biggest requirement for next gen VR are wireless headsets and the no need for base stations/sensors for tracking.
That's a weird logical leap you did there. That's the metric to decide if you should invest? Is it mainstream? Not is it good, or is it affordable, but if it's popular?
To each their own, but I sure as hell dont' agree.
Games that are not going away next year, and that you will be able to enjoy better with new hardware. These are two different things.
The first is true the second is not. There are many good or amazing games for hardcore gamers right now.
