I uttered words I never use, and treated people I have lived with and committed my life to serve in an unacceptable manner.
Yeah no. You know the words. You use them all the time or you wouldn't have used it now. POS
"Two minutes can change a life. In an emergency medical situation, two minutes can save a life. But can two minutes erase a quarter-century of a person's life and commitment to serving and caring for his community and those entrusted to his care? I hope not."
That quote right there tells me everything. What he's really saying is, "I don't want there to be any consequences for my actions, it really sucks for me that this was recorded.".
Let's not encourage him.
Why are these types of posts always so mealy mouthed? Say what you mean. This thread is hilarious. Should be saved for posterity the next time we have one of those infamous ERA "forgiveness" threads.
The priest acted like a dick, but sweet Jesus, some of these responses to the apology.

lmaoThe man who canceled this family's funeral and dispatched them in anger, is not the man who hours before worked to minister to their needs in a time of grief.

A sacred chalice? Give me a fucking break. It's some mail order shit that can easily get replaced from the same place he gets his holy water from. There's no reason that an accident by a grieving family should cause them to get berated and thrown out of a funeral. And especially not call the cops on them...
When he takes FULL responsibility in the apology maybe it can be taken more seriously. The man obviously has major anger issues. If he still wants to help his community, is he going to get help? Is he recognizing he has a problem? We don't know from that apology but you expect us to take it seriously? This thread is hilarious. This is the weirdest take I've ever seen on Era and GAF combined. The man flipped out and angrily cancelled a funeral over a cup. This thread is hilarious. Should be saved for posterity the next time we have one of those infamous ERA "forgiveness" threads.

Unless someone else has more experience with it and corrects me, I was always under the impression these were just things that were either passed on from the past or ordered online and then blessed by the priest or some visiting holy leader if they're lucky. I always have just thought the sacred part comes from it being a metaphor/symbol for what Christ used. They're certainly pretty expensive I would imagine given they're probably filled with gold/silver (this site seems to support that http://www.stempers.com/C/Chalices/6474) but I still think it's pretty excessive and I think the "sacred" is more symbolic than anything probably.Priest was a straight up jerk, no doubt but i think you might be selling the importance of the cup short. I'm not catholic so I don't presume to say what is important enough to call "sacred" but i know when the Pope came to Philly last year there was a lot of Pomp & Circumstance.
My anger spilled out in a torrent. I uttered words I never use, and treated people I have lived with and committed my life to serve in an unacceptable manner. Instead of care and compassion for the grieving family and friends, my focus turned to anger.

Or like imagine Jesus even caring at all if someone accidentally touched itHe is a piece of shit... it is also a sacred chalice :) I mean, the blood of their savior appears in that chalice EVERY Sunday. But, if something is sacred... maybe it should be put in a cabinet, or locked away?
I did say what I meant and I don't know what you're implying. People shit all over the apology and I found that hilarious in light of the usual "not even an apology" comments. Dissecting the apology for ill intent also seems useless and therefore comical. I don't know if doing that makes people feel better about the situation or what.
Not opening your "that isn't the real me" + "moment of anger" apology with a "hey, please be easy on the consequences" plea also helpsJust because you don't give a damn doesn't mean everyone else shouldn't.
You think pretty words makes up for cancelling a funeral and disrespecting a family?
How about don't be douchebag, then you don't have to apologize for shit.
I'm not defending what the priest because he was completely in the wrong did but people keep saying "it's just a chalice". It wasn't JUST a chalice. He describes it as "sacred" and used for Mass which probably means it was a blessed object. And to religious people of that faith and especially a priest that object is held to a higher standard than a mere mundane object.
Still doesn't excuse his actions though
Take that as you will.
Right, I mean it's right in the book that he's going to forgive that shit.Or like imagine Jesus even caring at all if someone accidentally touched it
Ha, it didn't even dawn on me that it could be anything other than a Catholic priest.Growing up Catholic
As soon as I read he lost his shit over a fancy cup I knew this was a Catholic church.
Their things are more important to them than the people.
He acted like a racist, not a dick. Call it like it is. His apology is meaningless and exists only to save face.
