THIS.Whilst you have a point to an extent I think you're massively underestimating the effect of the SSD especially on the first party output.
You literally won't be able to buy anything like this for your PC in the next few years
The stock PS5 SSD reads at 5.5GB/s, while most PCIe 3.0 M2 SSDs on the market today hover between 3GB/s and 4GB/s. However, Cerny and Sony expect PCIe 4.0 SSDs capable of speeds of up to 7GB/s to be readily available by the end of the year.
OG Xbox and Gamecube launched only 18 months after PS2, not "years"!PS2: EE + GS combination had tremendous power for their time, competition took years to catch up
Not pushing the envelope? The PS5 SSD has a raw speed that is 129% faster than the XSX SSD. It can reach peak numbers that are 226% higher than XSX. You literally won't be able to buy anything like this for your PC in the next few years, meaning that devs might recommend at least 32 GB RAM for PC ports if you want PS5 equivalent settings. The SSD in the PS5 is insane.
PCs would still lack the sillicon IO die (for now at least, it will probably be added into future processors), which is the bigger deal here than the actual NAND chip.Wrong, Cerny said that by the end of the year we will see 7 GB/s SSDs.

THIS.
With super fast SSD PS5 is basically a 30 almost 50 TF super computer. The games will load faster than you
Think about it!
This specific technology is patented by Mark Cerny, but I am sure that AMD further down the line will make their own version of it for their CPU/GPUs.Well right now, we still have to see the new AMD CPU/GPU line and Intel solution CPU.
I hardly doubt this new tech will be available only on PS5.
Wrong, Cerny said that by the end of the year we will see 7 GB/s SSDs.
Huh
Who even talked about XSX dude. Why are you always in defense mode?
Look on the bright side, at least the PS5 will be $250 at launch.

Yeah man let's ignore the developers and reporting from Jason Schrier that PS5 IO speeds are going to allow revolutionary experiences in level design and actual games.I chuckle when all I see is people defending the SSD speed. You have to come to grips people , it will make everything better. If you hold on to this notion that the SSD speed will save the day, you are just preparing yourself for another round of massive melt downs. Remember this.
Save the day from what?I chuckle when all I see is people defending the SSD speed. You have to come to grips people , it will make everything better. Actually seems like it wasnt patented by Cerny, but rather by SIE, but no from what i can tell AMD werent involved with the IO die.Was it developed entirely by Sony or AMD worked on it as well?
Patented by Sony or Cerny?
PSVR?Yes yes I know what you think, click-bait title and so, but please hear me out. First, let's take a look at the Playstations of old.
PS1: 3D graphics pioneer, not even the N64 could beat it for number of polygons pushed, bad-ass sound chip, first to introduce dual analog control
PS2: EE + GS combination had tremendous power for their time, competition took years to catch up, bandwidth monster, DVD drive (and player!) standard
PS3: Cell CPU/SPUs produced astonishing results when used properly, first console with Blu-ray drive built-in, first console with HDD installs, first console with HDMI standard
PS4: Almost 2 TF of GPU power (great for 2013), 8 GB of GDDR5 RAM !!! shocker
What does the PS5 bring compared to the competition? An SSD that is twice as fast, sure that's neat I guess but I doubt having 5 GB/s instead of 2.5 GB/s will transform the gaming experience. You can already fill your RAM in seconds, so..
Sometimes I feel that Cerny's talents are wasted in today's Sony, he could have done SO much more if he had been given greater freedom and budget ceiling to work with, surely I can't be the only one that feels PS5 is disappointing spec wise?
