So, putting aside that Steam can certainly choose what they want to support or promote , I do have to ask, while this game seems to promote disgusting stuff, what is different from other gross things like just murdering innocent people like you can do in a lot of games especially GTA?
Again, not saying I don't agree with the decision, I am just worried about being consistent and not just being accepting of one hideous thing from another because it's been around for awhile.
We as a society seem to have a much more tolerant view on things like violence than really anything to do with sex. You could argue that murder is a worse act to commit to another human being than rape, obviously it goes without saying that both are terrible so don't think i'm minimising the human cost of either. But just like how in TV/film you can get away with violent acts being depicted but for gods sake dont say fuck or bugger (that Kiefer Sutherland show 24, i'm looking at you) and definitely not the cunt word apparently murdering huge swathes of people in gaming is just fine. There is that utterly tasteless game, Hatred i think it's called that is just unrelenting violence and exploitative carnage but AFAIK it's not been banned. Obviously i don't want this piece of shit game to get anymore attention than it already has but there is maybe a discussion that could come out of it about why we are so desensitised to certain forms of violence to the point where we don't even bat an eyelid compared to sexual violence.
