His role in the Street Fighter movie has always been one of those examples of bad movies with good actors in which I wondered what led the actor to participate in the project, and man, what a sad story.

How on Earth I didn't hear about that? Makes the movie even more enjoyable knowing the enfort he put
It's a movie that makes no apologies about what it is. It's so good.It's been ages since I saw it. Even as a kid I knew it wasn't good, but heck I still enjoyed the ride. Maybe I'll give it another go soon.
If it makes you feel any better, I didn't know this as well.How on Earth I didn't hear about that? Makes the movie even more enjoyable knowing the enfort he put
This is similar to Mads Mikkelsen in Death Stranding. His son is a huge fan of Kojima and was super excited when he mentioned he was offered the part, which is partly why he took it.
The movie was absolute trash but Julia's performance alone is enough to make it worthwhile. I don't know how he was able to pull off Bison that well given what he had to work with. He was hammy as fuck but not so much that it was distracting or disrespectful to the source material. Just that perfect amount of cheese.
This two week old in depth article from The Guardian about the production of the movie is pretty awesome and shouldn't be missed, I think;

There's a scene where Ryu was to engage in a deadly sword fight with Vega (played by Jay Tavare), and Mann was supposed to have been well-drilled in fighting techniques – but the lessons kept being put off. "Then one day I was having lunch, and an assistant director came over to me and said: 'Hey, are you ready for your knife fight?' I said: 'What are you talking about? I don't know anything about it.'
"I couldn't talk about it at the time, but I can now: Jean-Claude was coked out of his mind," says de Souza. "The studio had hired a wrangler to take care of him, but unfortunately the wrangler himself was a bad influence.

This was like known right around the time he died, along with JVC , and Kylie Minogue doing the hunka chunka behind the scenes.How on Earth I didn't hear about that? Makes the movie even more enjoyable knowing the enfort he put
This was one on the thing that brought me to tears. The man was weak because of the chemotherapy, lost weight, faced strong pain, and even so, he did his stunts scenes.And he did those stunts while dying of cancer... What a boss dog.
I didn't knew that. That was an amazing decision by Raul Julia.
If it wasn't for him and Van Dame, this would be another Super Mario the Movie.
