Yeah, but we should have gotten two soundtrack swaps. The original soundtrack, and then the original soundtrack redone with the current quality standard.I agree but the best option is to get the deluxe edition to get the soundtrack swap.

Now imagining this level of acting and dialogue with the Chief Irons scene with the mayor 's daughter.
I am replaying RE4 for the first time in over a decade, and would love the REmake treatment given to it.
I kinda like the idea of that tbhwhile the Save Room Theme only starts playing when you turn the light on in the save room beneath the stairs.
i wasnt expecting it because thats just not how games are made anymore, but is anyone else bummed at the lack of background music?
a naive part of me was hoping they would bring back the old soundtrack, instead of a the more modern ambient noises and stuff
Irons role does seem to be expanded in the remake going by a note in the 3rd floor of RPD in the demo. It's an anonymous note, but it's totally Irons, talks about the corporation betraying him after all he's done for them, then about 'having fun' if it's going to be the end of the world. He's closed off the exits of the police station so no one can escape, and he planted C4 around the station as well but will have some fun before he blows them all to hell with the detonator. He says he locked a bunch of officers in a cage somewhere and is thinking of playing a fun game with one of the "goodie good" cops who challenged him on his corruption, giving him a gun and telling him he'd let all of the officers locked in the cage go if he'd choose to shoot and kill one of his fellow officers.I'm hoping Chief Irons has some horrible Frankenstein's Monster type creation sewn together somewhere in the police station.
I did play it recently as well, and while it is still enjoyable, after playing it so many times, knowing all the surprises sadly takes all the tension out of it. I really wish the DC version's Nightmare mode wasn't exclusiveReally amazing what replaying a title you held dear does to your perception because I just replayed Resident Evil 2 after maybe 7 or 8 years and I really didn't like it as much as REmake (which I recently replayed as long as one year ago) or Resident Evil 3 (which I played maybe two years ago for the first time). Tragic because I always perceived Resident Evil 2 as my favorite in the series after 4, but certainly not anymore after this playthrough. It's still a great game, but I don't enjoy it much anymore. I'm so glad this remake is coming though to rejuvenate my love for it.
- Avoid forcing flashlight use for long periods. Dark sections that need the flashlight can work, especially if they bring in new gameplay elements, for instance, "Lowlife" in Episode 1. However, even Episode 1 provided alternative means of light and had lighter areas as "breaks". Pure darkness with the flashlight as the only source of light for more than a couple of minutes is likely to become very trite and not enhance the atmosphere at all.
Really? Zombies, Spiders, Lickers, Ivys for basic enemies. Birkin (4 forms), Mr. X, Aligator, G creature as bosses. Imo not bad.Watched a playthrough of old RE2 last night and it struck me how little enemy variety there actually was in that game.

Not sure if this has been shared?

It uses enemies well, and RE2 really helped form the series enemy identity going forward (RE1 had a bit more standard fair with a few stand-outs and no crazy mutations yet outside of Hunters and Chimeras). Birkin alone has five forms thiugh, Mr. X has two forms, and ignoring them there's still some decent variety though (zombies, crows, dogs, spiders, Lickers, Plant Lickers, Plant 43 Ivy's, G-Adult boss, Alligator boss, cockroaches in one segment with Sherry, and a single optional Giant Moth enemy). RE2 was a sorta' short game, though. They were condensed well.Watched a playthrough of old RE2 last night and it struck me how little enemy variety there actually was in that game.
I'm definitely under that moniker, and I doubt we're alone. No joke, is this anyone elses most anticipated game of 2019? I want this more than Last of Us II, Metroid Prime 4, or anything else in 2019.
And this is just a remake of all things, lol.

Oh yes definitely. This is my most anticipated game of 2019 by far.No joke, is this anyone elses most anticipated game of 2019? I want this more than Last of Us II, Metroid Prime 4, or anything else in 2019.

I've decided now is the time for me to finally play Resident Evil 0. I need to scratch the itch.
Any tips lads? (Sorry for being a bit off-topic)
Yup, it's been talked here some but not in full detail. For some reason the Remake of RE2 is pulling a LOT from Resident Evil 1.5. Something I've not seen anyone mention (and I only know this from having played the leaked 1.5 rom in-depth some) is the new shutters around the police station are from 1.5, there's a new locker room with steam blocking the way that's from 1.5, Marvin's expanded role in REmake 2 is similar to the role he was supposed to have in 1.5, and at the end of the REmake 2 demo Marvin spots Claire on a security camera and Leon goes to talk to her through a gate. Marvin telling Leon this and this specific meeting scene by a gate is also similar to something that happens in 1.5.
It feels weird to have 1.5 things inserted back into the RE canon, but I'm not against it.

I played 1.5 in-depth and used debug to see everything, so I can help a bit here. For the life of me I can't have the full list of 1.5 areas, I think there was an expanded factory in there, but then again saying RE2 had a factory was stretching it.
I'm at least certain you used to go outside in 1.5 in order to reach the factory, like you go outside -> RPD -> outside -> factory but I might be smoking. I think you start at the rooftop in 1.5 or some stuff like that
Wasn't there real time clothing/armor damage in the scrapped version? I know we see bitemarks lasting on the character models but I wonder if they'd up the ante and have actual damage occur from specific attacks or monsters last on the character models till they switch out for something else.

I cannot remember if there was real time damage in 1.5, but there certainly was in early builds of CODE: Veronica.
I personally like the Main Hall Theme and Save Room Theme in REmake 2's demo, but the music has weird triggers. The Main Hall theme stops playing as soon as you interact with the PC or leave the main hall to go outside or to the East Wing (and takes a bit to get going so many may miss when it gets melodic), while the Save Room Theme only starts playing when you turn the light on in the save room beneath the stairs.
The Main Hall theme is a nice sorta' darker, reverberated and lonlier feeling version of the RE2 Main Hall theme I like a lot (you can hear it best in the Famitsu video), while the Save Room theme is sorta a mix of the RE2/RE4 save theme.
But the melodic music has strange triggers and close-off points. The Main Hall only playing for a short bit for most people is odd to me as the actual song sounds like it's over a minute long (and most may only hear 5 seconds of it) and could easily work playing each time you enter the main hall. And while turning the lights on and having the music wash over you is kinda' nice in concept, I think many missed you could even turn lights on in the demo. Meanwhile that (admittedly creepy) ambient drone when you enter the West Wing starts playing every time you enter the West Wing halls.
Pretty similar to the final gameFor the life of me I can't have the full list of 1.5 areas, I think there was an expanded factory in there, but then again saying RE2 had a factory was stretching it.

Hmmmm hmmmmmmmm. Thinking...However, the damage system for zombies and Leon came from another mechanic in this game that's not revealed yet.
I'm also hoping for some hilarious extras in the game from some zany costumes to a ridiculous secret weapon.
re: RE1.5 elements being incorporated.
I think it's worth considering that - given that the remake needed to mix things up, expand areas, etc. - it may be that the team at Capcom felt changes to a classic like RE2 would be better-received if those changes lifted material from the near-mythic RE1.5, rather than being seen as totally new additions.
I think the Main Hall Theme has been absolutely destroyed in REmake 2. The instrumentalization has been neutered for a more stupid atmospheric approach, the original had presence, here's is diluted on strings and bad frequency.
Will bite marks fade away with time after a heal or are they permanent?

:\ thats kind of a shitty thing to have to pay extra for. oh well. i guess its cool thats its an optionThere's the old soundtrack available as an option in the deluxe edition.
I'm glad they're paying homage to RE 1.5. I remember seeing screens from it in a game magazine and thought it looked amazing and atmospheric. RE2 is a classic, but the atmosphere from those screens was missing.
Knife Only, No Save, Perfect Leon runs here we come! From what I saw, even after healing the bite marks seem to stay in cutscenes and gameplay.
Who knows if those will stay forever in the final game though.
(This will play with my OCD to have a perfect Leon so much tho.)
