Yeah. The additional content adds 2 new classes (Ninja and Exorcist) and 4-5 new bonus dungeons featuring new equipment and bosses.
I've only played about this far before, so I'm not sure. I tried Robocquet before and it was rough, but what I've read is that the Hive Queen is comparably rough.I was caught by surprise with its difficulty spike.
The termite soldier as random encounter is nasty for earlier scenario and the Hive Queen boss took me about 30+ turns.
Lost 2 of my goons and close to losing the 3rd, but managed to spark couple of techs, so all is good.
I suppose 7 heroes scenarios are much more difficult than this?
Kind of a late answer, but yes, it goes back to 0.Are Sparks random? I remember hearing people talk about getting a few over a couple hours, but on my 3rd battle a character Sparked.
EDIT: While writing, another character Sparked the Parry ability. Is it only "main" characters that Spark infrequently?
Also, does New Game+ keep the battle rank or does it go back to 0?
Weird question maybe, but this is something that matters to me in JRPGs. Can you change the on screen character when running around the world?
The hive queen is actually as tough as some of the most powerful heroes early on. Also, several heroes have a way of cheesing through their level, while you have to go through the hive to get the Queen, and the fix soldiers are very annoying. But you got one of the more interesting classes for your troubles !I suppose 7 heroes scenarios are much more difficult than this?

No, not the archer guy, he sucks .
I suppose you meant:
Moleman. I tried to recruit him to replace 1 of my goons, but seems like need to wait for generation to pass first.
I'm in a bind now. It feels like my skills and spells level progress very slowly. Might be because I've been trying my best not to fight.
I'm at 2nd emperor after Gerard (Leon - Gerard - Topaz - Agatha(current)), but my spell global level hover only around 10-12. Hp is around 200-300.
Am I still considered early game or mid? I haven't tried any of the hero scenario.
Other annoyance is just like RS3, the equipment description in this game is an absolute ass.
I'm pretty sure the def value shown is only for 1 type of damage, whereas in this game there are 4 types of physical damage (slash, blunt, pierce, projectile).
Not to mention elemental resistance (heat, cold, electric, etc.).
My characters got absolutely demolished by that Hive Queen's mace.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe defeating 4 heroes + Ksnizzie (at the beginning) is what triggers the final generation. Up to that point I believe you can die and inherit to your heart's content.Just wondering: is there a limit to generations? What triggers the final emperor/empress, and is that a point of no return where failure means game over rather than a generation skip?
I'm still early days, got sucked into other games this weekend. But I'm excited to get back to this.
None, unless you do it several thousands times in a row and even that I'm not sure.I've been tempted to purposely kill my emperor a bunch of times so I can learn all the formations. There's no downside to this?
Dumb question since I totally forgot how it works, how do you learn magic? I know there are spells you have to research in the University, but are there spells you learn simply by using magic, or does that only increase the level of your Magic and you have to buy/research the magic at the University?
Ah ok, that's right. It's been a while and I'm currently waiting on the University to be built. Thanks. All of the spells are unlocked there according to your level in each elements. So level up a bunch of elements and ask them to teach you magic and more will be added to their list in each room. Levels requirement vary by elements with the last spell usually requiring 25+. For fusion spells you need to have the required elements and talk to the fusion researcher in the room you want and have the money.
They have different lists, but you generally don't want to have the max number of non-magical skills because it will prevent you from sparking more.Got to the second forced generation last night and got the magic institute built and all, feels good.
I find the inheritance mechanic for skills quite great, but boy do I wish there was a more streamlined way to build your characters' skill/spell setd after starting a new generation. Having to select every old skill and new spell one by one takes way more time than it should.
By the way do skills and spells have different lists? As in, can I have the maximum number of skills in a characters (I think it's 8?) AND the max number of spells at the same time? If so, cool.
The deal is that there is an internal counter that tracks your encounters (since running away counts) that scales up the enemies at regular intervals.Got lucky enough to purchase this game thanks to some eShop credit in a contest I won, and I'm really excited and nervous. I'm a huge fan of Final Fantasy 2 on the NES/PS1 but apparently this game doesn't like it if you grind? How so? I'm kinda confused, if the game doesn't want me to keep using my skills and stats over and over to improve them. Wouldn't that mean I can't take down bosses if I go straight to them with as little encounters as possible?
Some advice :
It doesn't matter much who you pick as an emperor as you inherit all the skills level from the previous one. You can get some formation from the new classes by speaking to the formation trainer in Avalon's castle as a new class emperor.
Build the Magic Research center early on and spam magic. Some of the fusion spells will make the big bosses much easier and you need level 15-25 in respective elements to unlock them and money and a generation skip. Morever the final spell of each element are really OP especially water as you can break the game with it.
Get the University early on and talk to the dean in the top right corner inside to attract more students. You have to pass a test which the answers are around the university and the game. Check your revenue too as it's a question. After you pass you can find the tactician inside which is a powerful spell casters that comes with 3 elemental proficiency.
You can recover 1 LP by drinking Anima Draught. You get one for free each generation in the stash or you by more from the witch in the Witch's cave next to Atlanticus (mermaid town). It's 10 000 each so you have to run back and forth between your castle and here to refill your cash each time.
The best waza to have early one is the sword waza Airwave. If you can spark that early on then the game will be much easier. It deals damage according to the enemy current HP so you can actually kill some of the easier heroes with it and the most annoying bosses with high HP. It will deal 2000-4000 damage on a first turn if enemies have 10 000 + HP.
The Labyrinth of memories is the extra dungeon from the mobile version. You can get the 2 bonus classes here. You can access it as soon as you can reach Atlanticus. It's right next to it. It's really easy to get the Ninja early on as she's in the sections after the low rank monsters. Moreover the fight here don't increase your battle ranks so you can try to learn some of the weapons exclusive waza here.
Be careful as you skip generations because it will add heroes extra forms after a while if you don't kill them quickly. They tend to go from 1 to as much as 4 forms if you skip too much.
Try speaking to a couple of NPCs in town and then go back to the castle.Just started the game and I made it back to Avalon after defeating the monsters. Where the fuck do I go next?
Love the music and visuals
Got it on PC and it hasn't really grabbed me. I should've grabbed it on iOS, I can tell I'd enjoy it much more.
I thought the mobile version was complete garbage. The touch controls just don't work well with the movement, enemy, and initiative mechanics.
Not really. I'd expect them to drop platforms Romancing SaGa 2 performs really badly on.Is it safe to assume the remake ok Romancing Saga 3 will be on the same platforms as 2 ?
Apologies if this has been posted, but is there a newbie guide to this game?
For example, in Vagrant Story if you go in blind you're likely to suffer, but if you just know the basics of how weapon upgrades work, you can have a great time with the game.
I've played Saga Scarlet Grace and enjoyed it but it was incredibly long.
Earlier in this thread Gyoru posted a link to a FAQ/Walkthrough
You should check it out, it has some explanation on basics of the game.
Also have to add this for people confused about generation mechanics: Wiki
Are you sure you can't get the Holy Order in that case? I thought they were always there, and in your case you'd just end up in their "bad end" scenario (which still gets resolved in your favour even though it doesn't make sense time-wise).
I think simply generation jumping would reset the quest to the "bad end" version.
If you simply leave, hire some random guy, and then go back, how does Sofia's town look like? Is she there? Is she hiding?
EDIT: Not sure whether that bad situation has been fixed in the remake or if you can still permanently screw Cumberland up. In any case, the scenario where everyone is dead still ends up with both Holy Orders joining you.
Jason Schrier has a new interview with Akitoshi Kawazu, which does touch upon SaGa Frontier, among other games in the series (obviously RS2 as well).
There is somewhat of a spoiler in the title to the article, but I doubt people care at this point, since it's a strange ending to one of the 7 characters in that game.
Schreier: Do you ever want to return to Final Fantasy? If you could make a new Final Fantasy game, what would it look like?
Kawazu: If there is ever a time when no one is around to develop Final Fantasy, then I feel like I would have no choice but to work on it. That said, it would be best if a situation like that never occurs, and it is also highly unlikely to occur. As such, there's no need to think about what it would look like.
Schreier: How do you feel about Legend of Legacy and The Alliance Alive, games that are sort of spiritual successors to the SaGa series?
Kawazu: It's easier to play games (rather than creating them), so should more games along the lines of what I'm thinking get released, all I'd have to do is play those games every day. But, that day has yet to arrive.
Schreier: SaGa Scarlet Grace never made it to the West - do you plan to ever bring it here?
Kawazu: I would like to make this decision after monitoring the situation of Romancing SaGa 2 in the overseas market. Of course, I would like to if I could.
