Is this the first time in recorded history the same game would have been remade twice?

Not counting remaster then remakes like Shadow of the Colossus on PS3 -> PS4
Softporn Adventure.
Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.
Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded.

(You could technically include the VGA remake in there too.)

... oh god, why do I know this.

Yea, Lisa's suffered enough. Plus it's getting old having a stalker follow you and then you get enough weaponry to not worry about it anymore.

An idea off the top of my head, what if they introduce a Crimson Head subtype that is actually unkillable; the only way to stop it (and it can follow you into any room, even save rooms) is to lock it inside a room; you would get items to barricade/block off doors etc. Of course this means you lose access to the room, so you have to plan which one to 'sacrifice' and not trap yourself in the mansion.

I would go even weirder. Crimson Heads are just ONE evolution zombies can mutate into if not disposed of properly. And they can branch out in multiple ways. Make it so the player DOESN'T KNOW what to expect instead of "ugh, this shit again" whenever the scary music kicks in.

I really don't see this needing another remake but then again I thought that about RE4 too and that turned out very well. Honestly at this point I would rather they break out into their own RE continuity instead of remaking titles from the original series. They have enough of a foundation now to make their own stories with these reimagined characters, kind of like an RE Ultimate Universe type thing

I'd actually be down for an RE1 remake. RE2/3/4 remakes are drastically different to the originals so RE1makemake would feel like a whole new game compared the RE1make which, thankfully, is already readily available on all modern platforms. Plus, it's been 20+ years since the remake, I'd say it's worth a shot.

Honestly, the main issue is the lack of classic RE titles on modern hardware. We've got RE1 on the PS4/PS5, but that's about it. No RE2/3 on PSN, no RE2 on Switch Online, nothing on Xbox and PC only has old as hell ports you can't legally buy anymore but also seem to be missing from abandonware sites. Even if they just slap an emulator on them and bundle them together, it's better than where we're at.

Final Fantasy's gotta' be up there. NES/Famicom/MSX, WonderSwan/PS1/GBA, PSP/3DS/Mobile, Pixel Remaster. That's 4 right there, could arguably be split apart into more. Might be even more I've missed, too.

They are all old at this point but Capcom won't let them actually age. Jill is like in her 50s and i believe Capcom said her aging has slowed due to the virus and being cured. All of them, even Rebecca should have moved on and had a family at this point, but can't do that! They will all die of old age fighting Umbrella (or whatever) before acting like normal people.

I don't see anything wrong with people in their 50s still doing their thing, not everyone needs to have a family either. We need more older men and women as main characters in games.

I think that's great news. As much as i love the 2002 remake, i think a remake in the same style as RE2 would be great for consistency, since we already have the third game in that style as well. I imagine after this, they will remake Code Veronica and then 5. Something like a "Chris vs Wesker trilogy".

RE1 will always hold a special place in my heart. So sure. I'm down for another Remake of that. Far as Leon being in RE9. I think he's a fine character, I like him, but I can't say he's one of my favorites. I would have preferred to see nearly anyone else come back. Not that that's going to stop me from playing the shit out of this.

I mean correct me if I am wrong, he hasn't been a playable character in a mainline RE game since RE6. Which was over 12 years ago.
Yeah, it's been a long time. The last time we played as "Older Leon" was in 2012. I mean, i love wisecracking babyface Leon, but a more serious and mature Leon would do wonders for me. We already seen Chris (Village) and Claire (Rev2) being like that, time for Leon too.

Not excited to see more Leon, but cool I guess. I also didn't need another Remake of RE1 but there it is. I don't hate it but have no desire for it either.

I wonder if 9 is going to be RE4R-2 gameplay wise if Leon is the protag. That game feel in an open world could be interesting, assuming its third person but who knows.

I don't really think we need another RE1 remake, but I've long made my peace with it happening.

And we haven't seen playable Jill since RE3. And she had big sections of gameplay taken away from her in her own remake.

True, im just saying that like Leon has spent most of his life fighting monsters and pining for one woman.

Which to be fair seems better than most of them. Rebecca is married to her desk job. Probably owns 5 cats.

I get it, they are video game characters, it's just Capcom needs to get to "the next generation" before they have to explain why Chris is fighting zombies with a Walker.

Would like to see Jill back at the staring helm of a main line RE title. It's ridiculous for her not to star in main title since 3.

This would be Leon's fourth appearance as a playable character in a mainline RE game (2, 4, 6, now 9). It is a lot.

Chris has five, six if you count Not A Hero. Either of them being prominent is not particularly unusual.

(We really need more of Claire, but I guess she's canonically in a less combative role as a part of TerraSave)

Yeah. Chris and Leon are both overplayed, in my opinion. I don't ever need to see Chris Redfield again. Dude has absolutely no personality.

Yeah, this right here is the issue with the stalker stuff. It's such a linear set of possibilities wrt how to deal with it. But you can absolutely have an enemy design that is as oppressive as a Mr. X but is also more interesting in the choices you make to deal with it. Whether it's the suggestion above about locking them in rooms or being lazy about disposing of bodies and fucking yourself up that way if they come back as some random mutation that's far worse, like a crimson head++

There's so much interesting things to do with the environment and enemy design. A basic, invincible stalker enemy is the most boring choice. But I trust them to do something interesting, I think they have the self awareness to know that repeating the same trick over and over is gonna have diminishing returns

Since they're gonna remake Re1 from the ground up, i really hope Rebecca and Barry have a much more important role this time around. Heck, they could even be playable for a few sections.

Please be true (about the REremake). I still think RE 9 should be its own thing and the OG characters shouldn't have any major roles.

I see no reason to implement Crimson Heads if RE2 2019 is anything to go by. Zombies already do far too much damage, take way too many resources to deal with and are basically immortal unless you get a crit shot on their heads.

Also... Why complicate V-ACT further by having other mutations? It's science magic as is, imagine the files having to explain that a t-infected human can undergo several kinds of mutations. lol
Then again, it's not like the franchise hasn't done that kind of thing before, so whatever.

Jill is the main character in Revelations, though she isn't the only playable character in it. She was the main playable character in Lost in Nightmares and Desperate Escape, with the latter being her last canonical appearance as a playable character in the timeline. Though you could argue that playing as her is optional in them.

I don't see why not. There's demand for it and all these remakes sell well. Even RE:3 with a 79 MC is already close to 9 million.

Give RE:CV to M2.
I've been kinda screaming for the same thing with CV to M2. Learn from your mistakes give it a little bit bigger budget and let them take a 2nd crack at it

I mean that's the thing, it is science magic. So why NOT add an element of unpredictability to the game? It'd be way more interest than them just using "TIME FOR THE INVINCIBLE JACKASS TO SHOW UP AND WASTE YOUR BULLETS" every 10 minutes of gameplay.

Like when I was playing RE2, my response every time Mr. X showed up was "fucking hell, this again". It's not scary, it's annoying and frustrating.

Unnecessary. REMake1 is already the perfect game.

Also the sterilization of everything into 'another over the shoulder third person game' is lame and that's probably what this is.

Revelations, like Code Veronica, is not a mainline game however much wishing upon a star is involved.

I remember being blown away by the original REmake back in the day. I can't wait to see how glorious the Spencer Estate will be with this engine.
