Yeah. I recall Halo 5 struggling hard and MS PR not even giving out sales numbers or something.

Rare dropped their in-house engine (Rocket engine) after kinect sports rivals, basically said it was due to the versatility of UE4. Also that they could start working on the game quicker, I assume building out rocket engine for SOT's would take a lot of work.I'm not sure, but a quick Google shows that Viva Pinata may have been running on a custom in-house RARE engine, though Party Animals used Krome Studios own engine instead. If true, that means they replicated a similar art direction from their past games/engine on to Unreal 4. Pretty interesting nonetheless. I wonder what the main reasons were for them switching over to Unreal 4 instead of continuing to expand on and develop their in-house engine.
This is only true because conservatives are afraid to post what they think here. The video-game discussion here is much, much better in my opinion.
Seriously OP are you a paid shille for Microsoft just doing your best to keep nothing but positive vibes. Did you really write that title yourself?
I'm not saying that what they have done is better than other templates (though I'm really enjoying the game), but it is a unique take. I don't think I ever played anything like Sea of Thieves, in like ever.I don't know about this, putting someone in a world and telling them to do what they want without providing them ways to entertain them other than having fun with friends (varied and certainly more than in this game) doesn't sound good, how many games have actually pulled this off successfully? (Minecraft I guess is the only one?), there is also a problem with the world being bland, as in it is not worth exploring because there is nothing special to discover, maybe this will be solved in the future.
Personally I always need a carrot to follow in multiplayer games as a gamer, games like Destiny, The Division and MMOs do this greatly with constinatly getting your character better be it through gear or getting newer skills, a cosmetic only progression will be dropped by me fast, it remains to be seen how long will players be engaged with the game and if they made the right choice.
I think it's because MS has a history of making PR statements that are intentionally vague or misleading. Sometimes borderline lying. These threads are good for getting a decent ignore list complied. Nothing else really.
Every. Single. Microsoft. Thread. It's crazy for a community who claims to be open minded.

I disagree, but I don't want to go any further into this. So I will say no more.I have seen plenty of conservatives. I just think american cosnervaratives (republicans) have problems cause they are so far right they can't really be considered normal conservatives anymore. Romney and Bush are conservatives, both seems to highly dislike the current GOP because they are so far off what conervativism (right word) actually is.
I don't think we need to, but player number after about three weeks will be pretty telling of game pass trials I think.

Unique players will keep going up. That's how totals work.I don't think we need to, but player number after about three weeks will be pretty telling of game pass trials I think.
Wonder why people's reading comprehension dips in quality whenever xbox has positive news or deals with Greenberg tweets.

I really dont understand why this is great news. Doesn't it still only equate to a lot of people trying the game out ? Most for free or only $10. Will sales #s ever be released? Isn't a game like this also dependent on player retention ? How many of those to 2million will still be playing in a month? No one really knows, could be a lot or it could be a few.
It's the reader's fault if they can't understand 280 or less characters. Not their fault Microsoft puts weird spin on their press releases.

There's literally nothing confusing in the press in question. Not their fault Microsoft puts weird spin on their press releases.
Halo 5 struggling hard? When was this?Yeah. I recall Halo 5 struggling hard and MS PR not even giving out sales numbers or something.
Lol.The game sold 5 million copies in the first 3 months so that must have happened in some other reality
"To many" is generalising the opinion of those shouting the loudest. It's clear the game is doing well and understandably so with content that is enjoyable and fun. The fact few have to continually rail against the game is just a sad state of armchair game developers. You realize that just means the base game is so unsatisfying to many that they'd prefer the illusion of progress to nothing at all.
I always felt, the way the heads at Rare were talking in the post release vids, they were concerned about many things, but not about the game popularity, just felt they knew it was going to be a juggernaut. Its just a matter of 'when'.
He was right
Exactly. it's obvious certain users here just can't believe the game is doing ok. Lol.
Surely a joke tweet, I will buy a physical copy of SoT and YouTube myself eating the disc if that happens.
Pleased for MS though, interested to see how many of those players were via gamepass.
Why would he joke about it? Or is it more, that you want it to be a joke tweet?Surely a joke tweet, I will buy a physical copy of SoT and YouTube myself eating the disc if that happens.

SoT might not do PUBG numbers, but it damn well is going to be in the headlines for a very long time. We would not have a 120 page review thread, if the game was not crazy popular.

The 120 page review thread is because it's extremely divisive, is a 1st party title and it got relatively low scores, not necessarily because it's crazy popular.
This topic also has 23 pages already.
Well even partially disliked stuff can be crazy popular.
This should be their main objective now.I'm glad Rare's had a big hit and I hope that this game receives a ton of new content. Maybe even a campaign mode of some kind.
2M players is good BUT how many of those 2M players are via Game Pass versus buying the actual game? That's what I want to know. When Microsoft reveals actual numbers that are actually impressive, then I'll be impressed. Until then, not so much. If anything, im fully expecting all of Microsoft's first party exclusives to do crazy numbers regardless of how good or bad the game is because for $10 a month, any game is worth a rental.
