Why should you have words?
Welcome to online games?
Why is it sad?
If you enjoy it, good for you. But the game clearly is very divisive and people who don't like it really don't like it, and figure out that they don't like it fast.
I'm usually on the same wavelength as most of the giant bomb crew and they put it best - " the majority of this game is walking to and from your ship to move objects or items around". The game just feels incredibly shallow and gives no real incentive to continue or any feeling of mystery about what can be found.
I get that the game is about emergent gameplay between groups of players but it feels so, so, so limited when you look at it even in comparison to a single player game like breath of the wild that aims to have emergent "not designed" games play moments created in it's world and sandbox.
Hope that downtime is being used efficiently. I won't be home for some time anyway...sorry to everyone hoping to hop on now.
Got my sealegs taken care of, and can't wait to get back to the game. Legend status, here I come Yaaaarrr
I'm glad i took the week off for this game. It's been an amazing week for me. Roleplaying in realest possible way.
People are saying that the game is a chatroom. That's not entirely wrong, but its the best goddamn chatroom possible. Made so many friends on live, just by playing and meeting likeminded people. The social aspect of the game can be the best, and it can be the worst at times.
As you said, this game is divisive. It just interests me the lengths people are going to dismiss this game like its killed their dog or something. That review thread is straight up hyperbole, with people claiming they've "seen" everything within a few hours despite no mention of their levels or the fact no one has gotten to legendary status yet. That doesn't excuse the lack of variety when it comes to enemies but those complaining about voyages clearly haven't progressed far because shit is hard right now for my crew with multiple maps, riddles, objectives occurring and at the very minimum three skeleton captains spawning on soul voyages. As well as that we get the lovely "all the islands are void of life!" despite going to every single island and seeing lush environments or barren wastelands but suited to the landscape. Why is it sad?

Well you said "if only had a server page saying it" it says it tho.Yeah my fault totally, I should do time conversions ever time I look at a server status page. If only it had a banner at to that was maybe green, yellow, or red to indicate I don't know... the status of the server....
Is the legendary captain stuff supposed to be in the game yet? I thought that was coming later.
I think they should add some sort of competitive stuff in the game. I don't know what, but it would give more meaning to pvp. They could add a ranking system maybe. Like, if you kill a player or sink his ship, your rank goes up. And you get a % of his gold for killing him. Also, if your rank is at a certain level, you are "wanted" in the world and people can spot your position, if they kill you they get a bigger % of your gold. Just an example of what they could do.
Quick Gif from this mornings gadding about. Best I can do since XboxDVR.com isn't updating still.
I hate the water and I got seasick while still in Douglas Harbour going back to Liverpool once, and yet I could spend ages just sailing around in this game

Extended by 1hour!I thought the server downtime was supposed to be over by now? This is becoming quite an issue as it's impacting the video I'm working on. :(

They added an extra hour to it. So 15 or so minutes left.I thought the server downtime was supposed to be over by now? This is becoming quite an issue as it's impacting the video I'm working on. :(
Three months? The "Ship Captaincy" update would be released around three months after release.
They apparently get more common the higher rep you get in the gold hoarders.I finally did a 'riddle' quest last night. Found it in a book on an island.
Loved it. The clues were fun, very satisfying feedback when you successfully completed a piece of the riddle. Gave me an excuse to travel around the island.
Really wish they employed those more regularly or consistently, maybe as a quest type for one of the factions. I could just be unlucky and never find them.

By the way, this happened to me yesterday.
I believe it's some weird server issue, and not a bug, since at the end of that second video I got booted off the server, and couldn't reconnect for a while. Last night I've also had my sloop turn over and sink out of the blue. I don't think it's been leaking, I checked for leaks a couple of times, and I couldn't find any that haven't been boarded up. At first I thought it was the Kraken, but there was no sign of it anywhere around. Has anyone had anything similar happen to them?
And what the Legendary Quests consist of. Really interested to see what those entail.Depends on the bug fixes, adjustments and live events they'll do in these three months tbh. That could give me enough reasons to play now and then.

That happened to me on the first night and I quit out. It properly put me off then. But then last night I dragged myself back in and found a great crew, spent 3 hours exploring with them and it all finally clicked for me. It's definitely worth persevering.
Join the Discord! We've got a LFG channel set up and everyone is super nice :)I might give it another run, it's just that finding the time to commit to an online session is difficult. Thanks for this though. Just have to get lucky with a better crew.
