All of this takes me back to when I visited Japan in 2015, I went to Yokosuka and walked up to Dobuita street, of course didn't look nothing like 30 years earlier when the games are set, still I was tempted to knock at every door, asking randoms for sailors and practicing some moves in a paking lot.
Common sense stopped me from doing all of that, BUT a least I bought a soft drink at a vending machine and drank it all in one gulp
So glad Sega is planning to release them on all platforms.
Seems like a fairly basic port this is all I expected and could hope for to be honest!
Someone help me out here...I'm not the only one who's likely to play Shenmue 1 with the dub for nostalgia reasons right <_<
It'll certainly bring back fond memories of laughing at the kids' VA with my older brother!
you should say fuck your nostalgia and play the JPN dub. It's way, way better. The English dub for shenmue is horrendous. It actually takes me out of the game.

Christ yeah, the English shit takes you out of the experience.
Yeeeeeah, about that...So glad Sega is planning to release them on all platforms.

Can't wait to routinely disappoint by not buying him a capsule toy every day without fail :'D
What's worse to me is the compression on the audio files, which was a necessity at the time to fit onto the tiny Dreamcast discs. Unfortunately, I don't think they are going to be giving us uncompressed audio either way...
So it is not even an HD port, just a straight port with modern controls ? The hell Sega
Looks like next to no enhancements as expected, they aren't going to invest much in such a project. I wonder if the alternate control scheme does anything beyond normalize things like right stick = camera etc. Hopefully it only messes with the wandering as I doubt they could rebalance new controls for the fighting for such a low effort port.
Very reommended, but i feel bud it is just a shitty port with high res insted of remaster. What hace they being doing all this years? Shenmue must have an outstanding return! Not remaster it's just a port?
Never played these games they any good?
That would be excellent if so. It was one of the downsides of the game. They put so much effort on visual presentation, that the audio had to suffer because of disc size. The music is beautiful as well, and even that got compressed. I'm crossing my fingers they restore the audio quality. There is a chance the uncompressed audio still exists. They didn't get either Ryo voice actor to come back and record new lines in Sonic Racing, yet all the dialog was from Shenmue and uncompressed. So it seems the original, uncompressed audio still exists.

Amazing announcement, but very disappointed that they haven't done anything 'special' for the re-release, like better textures, maybe revamped lighting? And the aspect ratio almost looks stretched in the trailer, like the laziest port ever. Thanks Sega, but this is nothing more than a cash-grab riding the coattails of the Shenmue 3 hype.
If saves transfer, it's really worth it to buy toy capsules in Shenmue I.
At the beginning of Shenmue II, when all your stuff gets stolen, you can sell your old toy capsules from Shenmue I for quick cash. It's the difference between starting the game absolutely penniless, and starting with a sizable chunk of money. Having money early on can skip some segments intended to have you grind up your money to stay at a hotel, and can also let you buy some moves in Hong Kong way early on
Think I'm right in saying the Xbox version just gave you a load of toys right from the off?
Well yeah but that's all that's needed for most.Amazing announcement, but very disappointed that they haven't done anything 'special' for the re-release, like better textures, maybe revamped lighting?
