Ok now they're ashamed and they're still not voting. How is this furthering your goal to make them vote against Trump?

....what the fuck even is this?
Are we now suggesting that we have to negotiate and bargain with these nudniks to use some common goddamned sense because "their guy" didn't get the nomination?

Careful OP. Now we have a new set of people who won't vote just to spite you for your thread title.

Are willing non-voters actually even concerned about any issue that doesnt directly and immediately affect them? I mean, be mad and get angry - go out and campaign and raise awareness, just dont put any personal stock in the belief that these people are likely to give a fuck.

Anyone who can vote and who, at this time may be unwilling to, or willing to troll vote, is probably not on the side you want them to vote for.

I do not want to come off as saying be civil. I dont think civil and political discourse should be checked by politeness and decorum. I just hope that as much energy as is invested in feelings of anger is also invested in proactive measures for positive change.

Imagine believing that you're an ally to an oppressed group and not even wanting to vote. That's the least you could do. Any little bit of harm reduction helps a lot for minorities. At least cast a vote for the countless number of minorities who have had their vote suppressed.

California is a pretty good place (not without its flaws of course) and has a huge economy but let's be realistic, a state's options are pretty limited outside the courts if the federal government is insane. People saying well CA can just stop paying the Feds, wouldn't the government just send troops in to take over the state treasury (or whatever office handles the transaction of paying the federal government) and force it.

Same deal with people talking about secession and CA being a country. While in principal as a Californian I think it's a nice dream, there's no way the federal gov wouldn't just send troops to stop it.

This stuff definitely concerns me because while CA can threaten stuff back, I'm not really sure how they can play hardball against the government when push comes to shove outside the courts, which are sadly being stacked by trump appointees.

I think the reaction to my thread title is very telling, people want to be able to just say Fuck Trump and be satisfied that they done good.

Because that's all that would have happened, couple of pages of easy Fuck Trumps, but add in the idea that people have a goddamn responsibility to actually go the polls and vote him out? Oh now all of a sudden it's not so easy, that fuck Trump that was going to be so gratifying seems empty.

Sorry for wanting to vote for for the ecosocialist candidate who actually represents my views if the election comes down to Joe vs Don.
No one's saying your shouldn't cast your vote for that candidate, or do everything you can to support them, in the primary. Or to feel sorry for doing so. Hell, this thing isn't over, primary voting hasn't even started yet.

But if they don't get the nomination in the end, writing their name in on a general election ballot doesn't accomplish anything. Isn't a choice of "Joe vs. Don" a choice between a small chance that some of your candidate's agenda sees the light of day vs. an absolute certainty that none of it will, over the next four years?

People need to be waaaaaay less concerned about what random people they've never met and will never meet, think.

Oh, a disembodied voice on a message board that might be a Democrat, or a Russian troll, or a neo-Nazi says supporting or not supporting someone makes you good or bad, and that's what's going to affect your vote?

Make your own decisions based on the people who are on the ballot. They're the ones running, they're the ones seeking to represent you. People on message boards literally do not matter.

And don't listen to me, I'm a Canadian, I do not have skin in the game.

That thread about Rogan endorsing Bernie makes me nuts. It reads like people opening up their partner's Instagram and seeing them in a selfie with someone else at the club.

Nah, you're just approaching your message in a questionably aggressive manner- you're not being valiant or brave or something.

Not to mention you're speaking to Resetera, where the majority of us already feel this way. Go outside and speak to people with opposing views rather than being a keyboard braveheart.

The biggest lie ever told is that voting is some sort of private, personal decision, voting is probably collectively the single act that most affects everyone around you. Voting out to be selfless not selfish.

The reaction to this and other threads shows pretty explicitly that not everyone here feels the same way.

Maybe they already do that? That changes the dynamic now, doesn't it

Damn you had to use a synonym there to call me a keyboard warrior, as a wordplay aficionado I can't hate on that.

There are far more people who are i'm staying home if I don't get my pick than you think.

If you are still on the fence or anti-voting in January 2020, you should absolutely be shamed. You are selfish.

And it's disappointing to see some people being more upset over this thread title than the actual fucking news about denying women health care.

We sell a lie that voting is the most personal decision, again by it's very nature it ought to be the most selfless. You are not voting for you, you are voting for the marginalized, those who can't weather the storm.

State's rights, am I right? Hahah, this is their first dab into real on seizing power, eh? If this isn't challenged, what's next? Using the military to compel a state to give up immigrants?

Get that woman that sent nudes in exchange for wildfire donations on the job.

Amazingly, this would actually be a crime, although it would be interesting to see it prosecuted. It might be a legal victory in some way to have nude photos be officially recognized as a valuable consideration.

Just let me imagine you aggressively typing away while wearing face paint, okay?
A keyboard braveheart is truly the perfect phrase. So much aggression and posturing in here.. but no discussion. Just lots of imaginary arguing. Some of these posts by the OP psychoanalyzing some imaginary person are frightening.

Let's put it another way.

Do you think the guy who made this speech would want you to sit on your hands this November and let Trump get reelected because the candidate you preferred didn't get the nomination?

Why would you chose to not vote democrat if you know that the courts will be fucked for decades if Trump gets re-elected?

And just like that, the thread is about everything but the topic.

The topic is about three things.

1). Trump threatening California over abortion rights.
2). Telling people to stop pretending like they have to be seduced into giving their vote when the alternative is more suffering.
3). Tone policing the OP over the title.
