Smash Bros Ultimate datamine: Mementos seems to be Joker's stage (further confirms Persona 5R/Erdrick for Switch leak?)

As much as I'd like to pull the Sakurai hates Xenoblade meme just due to how dour the Xenoblade representation is in Ultimate it does genuinely seem like circumstance for why the series doesn't have much outside of Xenoblade 1 stuff that was in Smash 4 and Spirits. Even then he made 2 Mii costumes for XC2 and he actually apologized for Rex not making it in.

Maybe if I was more of an X fan I would be more willing to peddle that he hates Xenoblade X but again circumstances

Is the "Sakurai hates Xenoblade" thing even real? Because it's wrong. He wrote about how much he enjoyed XC2 in one of his articles. If the timing was right, Rex would've been a shoe-in.

Sakurai actually apologized twice, which kinda surprised me. Honestly, had Sakurai chosen the Fighters Pass characters, Rex would have been a safe bet.

My point is that even as a joke it would be pure bullshit.

The reason why Xenoblade representation is poor in Ultimate is just pure circumstance. With that said I hope he can find someway to squeeze in a Xenoblade 2 character in Ultimate even if it means doing another Pass

Surprised Xenoblade didn't get another AT. It's pretty much guaranteed a newcomer next game assuming the series is still healthy though.

I think "Sakurai hates _______" is just a general tongue-in-cheek meme used by people who didn't get what they want.

Sakurai definitely hates Decidueye though

Xenoblade X and 2 just had bad timing.
Plus I can't disagree with any of the choices they made for Smash Ultimate newcomers. They had few picks and made the right ones.
Incineroar might be the most controversial, but he turned out unique. Plus I feel sakurai has to add a Pokémon every smash game.

I'm actually curious about what Nintendo would have done differently if they were also in charge of selecting the base roster's newcomers.

If the Granblue leak is true then the Doomguy leak is almost certainly true too, right? Because the Doomguy leak predates it and mentions the same really specific alt costumes for Erdrick.

If I were to hazard a guess. Maybe no Ridley, K Rool, or Incineroar/Pokemon but instead we would've gotten Rex/Pyra, Spring-Man, and maybe something else that came on the Switch. Maybe that's when we get Erdrick or maybe Dovakiin from Skyrim.

Ridley was a popular request people wanted that Nintendo doesn't need to oblige to. Maybe K Rool could stay so they can serve the ballot results but they could also just say the ballot was just for vets and Smash 4 DLC. I don't imagine Nintendo would care about giving another Pokémon rep considering how far away Sun and Moon was from Ultimate's release.

Instead in their place we have the Switch stars we thought would get and they would be in the base game so they can stand out due to being niche/new franchises and another third party that was coming to Switch so Dovakiin due to Skyrim, Erdrick/Luminary, or maybe even Rabbids

I've never heard anything about this rumor stating that there would be 2 more alts (anlucia and the DQXII hero) being included. Or is this something that got mixed up with the original rumor (the one leaking Endrick + mementos)?

But mementos is a pretty ok stage, I can understand why they didn't go for the casino or the 1st dungeon (no thanks to that).
Endrick with multiple alts sound weird but I can dig that somewhat?

None of the articles that reported on it mentioned it from what I can remember (because they probably didn't care about Erdrick), but you can check the original post for yourself (post 12 on that page).

A scrolling Alefgard stage makes a lot of sense, actually. You'd start out on a field, a few Slimes would appear, you'd defeat them, the stage would scroll a bit, a slightly stronger enemy would appear, and so on, all the way to Charlock Castle. It'd represent the journeying/progression aspect of Dragon Quest really well.

The original 5ch post of the Hayabusa/Steve/Doomguy rumor lists the Anlucia and DQXI hero alts.

Well, okay then. I'm guessing the two might at least be confirmation that Brave will be the second DLC character (if that even need confirmation).

I wonder if the L has something to do with the name Loto then. It is a placeholder name for his stage after all.

Oh alright. Doesn't change up the fact that it's ridiculously detailed for something that should not be known to anyone other than the working team, top execs and the other developmental teams. And a full reveal during e3?

Personally, I guess the last 3 picks are really bad (steve doesn't fit the smash aesthetics, DOOM has literally zitch for game charm and who would even pay for hasabusa?)
But there's multiple logical holes that should have sunk this ship long ago.

Mementos? Really? That's straight up boring. Like any of the dungeons, or even the overworld of Tokyo would've been way better.

Piranha Plant has been the highlight of the DLC and probably will stay so if this leak is real.
