It's a dumb movie for kids. Plenty of these exist. I'm not watching fucking Space Jam as an adult. It did its job at the time.

I think it's meant to be less a general satire of product placement and more a tongue-in-cheek reference to a bunch of products MJ had done commercials for.
This, to me, is the best thing to come out of the movie.

there was Space Jam happy meals and toys, Space Jam Wheaties boxes, a Space Jam Hanes shirt, etc.

Hundreds of people make movies. There are always going to be awful people involved somewhere along the line. I'd prefer the bad ones don't forever tarnish the work of everyone else.

It's played as a joke (while also dropping brands, clever). Think Wayne's World.
that's yet another reference to advertising, this time of KFC commercials Foghorn Leghorn did in the 80s. Think it's safe to say the movie was very self aware it was not much more than an advertising vehicle.
Wasn't the point of this that he felt like a sellout and his manager was putting him in all these commercials, but he just wanted to play sports?
They get to have their cake and eat it too by saying all the brands and therefore advertising them, but it's not like this was just dropped with no context.

From what I know he's pretty arrogant and doesn't enjoy interacting with fans. I don't think he's a "bad" guy. I'm a really big fan of his myself, though, so I'm biased. But it's obviously because of his incredible athlectic skills. And also I effing loved Space Jam. I was a kid when it came out and I probably watched it dozens of times.
