What makes you think that DICE hasn't designed the loot box centric gameplay?

I don't agree with your score breakdowns at the end, especially regarding battlefield 1, which I thought was a really fantastic offering and a good balance between pick up and play that the 2015 battlefront game had to, and a little bit more depth that echoed battlefield 4 without all the complexities that weighed that down at times.Okay, so I got a chance to play the game last night and this morning. I played 4 rounds of Galactic Assault, 3 rounds of Strike, and 2 rounds of Heroes vs. Villains along with the first two campaign missions. Here are my impressions...
The game itself is pretty good, but its hard to be excited to play it with the horrible progression system. I've always hated progression in multiplayer games, I prefer the time before Call of Duty 4 added RPG mechanics and unlocks to shooters, Warhawk and Battlefield 1943 were my favorite shooters last gen partially due to having no progression. Battlefront 2015 is my favorite shooter this gen partially due to having an incredibly simple and fast progression system. This game's progression system is a fucking nightmare to me, I hate it. Its really depressing.
The shooting isn't as smooth as the 2015 game, but its still pretty good. The best way I can describe it is halfway between the 2015 game and Battlefield. Hipfiring is still viable from medium and short ranges, you pretty much need to ADS for longer ranges. There is a penalty for shooting while moving so you half to plant yourself half the time to shoot. The blaster bolts are still far too small to see, I can't even see mine at all. Overall its more than serviceable, burgeoning on good, but I still prefer how the 2015 game feels.
Maybe I don't know how to really use them yet but heroes are incredibly weak, they aren't tanks like the 2015 game which is kind of disappointing, but I really don't like how you can have two spawned in at once in Galactic Assault. It should only be one hero per team at a time. Heroes vs. Villains is actually pretty good, though I am not a fan of the saber stamina stuff. Sidenote, Han Solo can wreck saber users from a distance.
The campaign so far is a standard by-the-books multiplayer-focused shooter campaign, not outstanding but good enough to warrant a playthrough just like COD's this year.
If I had to give this game a score it would be 7/10. Without the shitty progression it would be an 8.5/10. If it didn't have the progression and it copy and pasted the gunplay from the 2015 game it would be a 10/10.
For reference the 2015 game is a 9/10, CODWW2 is an 8/10, CODBO3 is an 7/10, Battlefield 1 is a 6/10, Battlefield 4 is an 8/10, Battlefield 1943 is an 9/10.
Oh Im not defending all of DICE. Im sure they had a hand in this shit, but the artists and level designers that had nothing to do with this crap and did their damnedest to make a good game only to have it be totally overlooked because of another group had a directive to squeeze as much money from their customers as possible; that shit has to be soul crushing.
Yeah I feel really bad for those people. They did such a great job, the game looks amazing! But there's no way I can support the gameplay based on star cards, loot boxes and MT's with my money. Gaming is a huge part of my life, so I care a lot about it's future.
Well for a lot of us, a video game is not a life-changing financial investment and neither are lootboxes purchases. We just want to shoot stuff and blow up spaceships.
Yeah, it's pretty rad having money and being able to think for myself.
I would prefer it if the points were awarded like in BF15, which I believe divided your overall score by 10. BFIi is also missing the bonuses you got (win bonus, game bonus) etc that could be added back in.My biggest issue is that progression is no longer tied to in-game performance. You play a match, you get roughly the same amount of credits as everyone else, and then you use those credits to buy blind boxes full of cards to use in a convoluted upgrade system.
There's no fixing this unless they completely overhaul the game.
I'll play it for a while because I'm a sucker and love Star Wars, but it's not going to keep my attention with this system in place.
Got my deluxe copy from Gamestop. There was a peel off label on the front packaging that had a barcode you could scan for free crystals and cards???? Anybody else get this? The cashier didn't take it off and now I think I might have been shorted?
Anyone with fresh starfighter assault impressions? It was my favorite MP mode in BF, but I'd heard they've added cards that help ships turn better and am kinda worried about how the balance ended up.
Ah well Good to know. I did not know that.
I noticed this during the beta. Combine cards that increase turn speed with cards that buff the amount of hits you can take and I can see some real problems for what would've been my go-to winter multiplayer experience.I could see a fully buffed bomber or tank hero ship like the Falcon being a pain to deal with if you have no cards, since even unbundled bombers take a long time to shoot down, during which time you're exposed to enemy ships.

It definitely looks better and you can turn off all the shitty effects if you want, which is nice.did they fix the graphics from the beta? the abberation and blurriness and everything on ps4 pro
Thanks! That's encouraging to hear! It's my favorite mode right now, and the only one where I can consistently come in first or second place on my teams leaderboard. It takes a lot less time to get back into things versus GA and strike, which I like.
I liked the campaign.
It plays exactly as you'd expect from a campaign from DICE (even though Motive did it, which is even more disappointing), but I dug the story and characters. I thoroughly enjoyed the way they utilized the heroes of the world when they got their dedicated levels. Humor is surprisingly on point for this game, too. It's a fun romp in the Star Wars world post-Jedi. The last level was inspired at least, but the jarring end of the campaign is a real middle finger. Also, Shriv is the best, and depending on how they decide to end the story here (through.... DLC?) I hope we can see Iden (and the rest of Inferno Squad) outside the game.
I went through the book and it does help inform a lot of these characters motivations and backgrounds, but a lot of these character's arcs are half-baked, which, again, is a shame because the characters here as presented in the game itself are pretty cool.

have there been any single player star wars games in the 2010s?People saying how horrible and boring the campaign is must not have grown up with the single player Star Wars shit we were fed in the 90s/2000s. This is a dream for me.
Guys any way to track this game concurrent players?
We have sites to battlefront 1 and Battlefield series but haven't seen any for this... Just curious how it will fare with all the controversy.
Nah man cant be true. The epics are not random. You get pre order epics for rey and kylo and for the other classes. An epic grenade for aussault etc. What really? Im playing on the deluxe I didnt get any epic star cards. Had a ton of loot boxes which gave me a few green and 1 blue one, but 0 epic :(
As we want to let players earn Credits offline via a more relaxed game mode, we needed to also find a way to make sure it wouldn't be exploited in a way that would impact Multiplayer. Because of that we made the decision to limit the number of Credits earned to stop potential abuse. We will be looking at data continually and make adjustments to make things as balanced as possible.

As for more Arcade, just like every mode in our game, we want to look for ways to expand it going forward. Unfortunately at this point we don't have anything to share right now, but know that we care about Offline modes.
Nothing is too late. As you've noticed, we weren't able to get the customization system into the game in time for launch. I'm actually having artists and designers walk up to me today showing me cosmetic stuff they really want to get out there. I think we have probably the best looking Clone Troopers ever made and I know players really want to customize them (I know I do). I can't really commit to a date just yet, but we're working on stuff and I believe it will change the game tremendeously on all levels.
Played a couple of hours of this last night. It'll be a decent game once they've refined it all and sorted out the nonsense with loot boxes, plus of course added more (free) content with DLC. Like with the first Battlefront it'll end up being a decent game just as everyone has moved on to other things.
I'd certainly say to people who are still deliberating whether or not to get it to hold off for a month or two until they've sorted it. You're always playing what is essentially a paid for beta test with games like this for the first month anyway.

Eh, I get this. They want to prevent people from farming offline where it would be much easier to gather credits but holy fuck, its so tone deaf in its implementation that its shocking. They needed a different solution...almost any other solution than this free2play style timer lockout bullshit.
How is playing offline "exploiting" when you've still got to play to earn the credits?
2) We've already started to tweak our existing systems based on the data we've seen from our Play First Trial players as well as your feedback. The goal with star card class level requirements, initially, was to make you go wide in the type of cards you get before you go deep in specializing which ones you want to upgrade. That said, we're hearing loud and clear that you'd prefer a system where playing a class or a character specificially will upgrade its level instead, so we're looking to make that change as soon as possible.
How is playing offline "exploiting" when you've still got to play to earn the credits?
The cap is 500 a day. You can't even get a crate in a week playing offline. That's incredibly dumb. And the justification when you consider crates impact multiplayer immediately is insulting.
Thats pretty nuts that the cap is so low (Im waiting for my standard edition on friday). Why not just have unlimited credit earnings but just slow down the rate at which you earn them?
You could tune the difficulty all the way down, for the example, and AI is never going to be as competitive as online multiplayer anyway.
I've met some opponents in MP shooters that might have you rethinking that answer...heheh
In all seriousness. I've never understood the restrictions placed on custom or offline games for earning stuff. Halo Reach did this for pure cosmetic items and among the rather large community I played with, it effectively killed custom games because everyone wanted to still earn credits. I get that people may not play the game "the way devs intended" offline but come on. Your game will be dead in a year (or less), maybe you'd widen your audience if people could earn cool shit playing offline?
I don't lose anything by doing campaign offline yeah? My Internet has gone down until tomorrow :(
Because that would be tedious as fuck and people would just do some other activity that earns more credits.Thats pretty nuts that the cap is so low (Im waiting for my standard edition on friday). Why not just have unlimited credit earnings but just slow down the rate at which you earn them?
