The new information sounds good to me, I hated the amount of "lore" that the story was wrapped up in. Keep that shit in the EU where it belongs.

This movie should focus on the battle of wills between Kylo and Rey, not start lurching into fan service and trying to mix in prequel ideas this late in the day.

I'm in the middle. Rey and Kylo are the heart of the story for me as well and I genuinely adore the sequel cast and want to see them front and center. That said, a modest dose of that other stuff sounds great.

Mark is in both teasers speaking new dialogue. That's enough for him to talk. I don't think they care about his twitter.
it isn't his twitter, it's the interviews. by not putting an actor in a position to answer the question, you have less to worry about. simple. Also, BDW is their OT star of the moment and they'll likely include Ian too especially if the trailer indeed opens like Jason said, with Kylo and the Senate.

I think that Ben dies the way it's reported and doesn't appear after. However, I wonder if something happens between getting his and Rey's Force harvested and the moment when he dies that hasn't leaked yet. Because, right now, we have the following situation:

Palaptine taunts Rey that she's alone with him unlike Luke who had his father by his side
Ben shows up echoing "You are not alone" from TLJ
KoR stop him, they fight
Since Ben showed up unarmed (he tossed his "evil" saber previously) he has difficulty dodging KoR weapons
Rey senses that she isn't alone and sends him Anakin's saber via their Force Bond
Ben dispatches KoR with Anakin's saber
Rey dispatches Palpatine's guards with Leia's saber
Ben joins Rey before Palpatine

So unless Ben gives Rey the Anakin saber immediately, when Palaptine starts to harvest the Force from them, Rey has only Leia's saber and Ben has only Anakin's saber.
After Ben dies, Rey uses both sabers to deflect Palpatine's force lightning and make him explode.
How did Rey get Anakin saber?

IMO, there are 2 possibilities. One, emotional, is that Ben gives it to her saying something along the lines that his family legacy is hers now, basically passes the Skywalker torch. That would go back to Rey, Rey Skywalker. He probably does something that prompts Palaptine to zap him. The other, no emotional "passing of the torch", but he is zapped, the saber falls from his hand and Rey picks it up after the connection with the old Jedi energize her. Rey, Rey Skywalker line has nothing to do with Ben.

Now, if this was Peter Jackson circa LOTR, I wouldn't doubt that the first option was the right one. However, this is JJ"Leia snubs Chewie to hug Rey" Abrams. He is pretty tone deaf so to him, mystery about whether Ben died and where he is would be more important than give (temporary) closure that resonates emotionally. So I could see "dry death" misstep here.

I never once got the sense that Ben loves Rey in any capacity. A sense of grudging respect for her skills and abilities, perhaps, but I just can't see how that could equate to anything close to Reylo being a thing.

Clearly they are going to confess their love for each other and the screen will cut to black before progressing to confront the Emperor.

The end scene on Tatooine will have Rey being pregnant, hence her taking the name Skywalker. She is carrying Skywalker blood

I wouldn't call it love but there's more there than just grudging respect. They are both lonely, sexy young people with incredible powers, both with a very heavy burden of expectation to carry. They clearly find it comforting to know that they are not alone, that someone else knows how it feels. I think that was one of the things that TLJ nailed, it showed a bond between them without resorting to actual romance. I think both them genuinely wish they could be on the same side and then maybe something could happen between them, but neither was willing to turn.

It sounds like by the end of TROS, Ben accepts that he chose the wrong side and should have joined Rey when she offered him the chance. When the decisive moment comes he puts his life on the line for the cause, just like Vader, Han and Luke before him. I think it should work just fine as long as they don't have him confessing his undying love for her or something. The key thing with Rey and Ben is what could have been. We should feel pity for Ben, that if only he had made better choices the galaxy could have been spared this conflict and perhaps he could have been happy. Rey and the audience should feel the same about him.

Yeah, agreed about "what could have been". They are not going to have explicit romance in the movie with anyone. Zorii rebuffs Poe at the end, and is basically just in the movie to confirm that he isn't gay (Tumblr is gonna riot). Finn is likely ending up with either Rose or Jannah, considering he's paired with Jannah and she is with the gang on Tatooine at the end of the movie. But, again, more of implied future than actual thing. So that way, they can have Rey as the Jedi Goddess that needs no man. What happens after TROS is a big question mark but no one really believes they are going to be done with at least some characters. Especially with D+.

LOL, I was right about romance. Ward has just posted his new pod and says that the only kiss is between characters people don't care about. I think he means ship nobody's going to ship so Poe and Zorii most likely before she rebuffs him. No one's gonna ship these two.

The rest is a hilarious read, mostly about his twitter tantrum from yesterday with some tidbits not to be missed:

• Wonders what's happened with the Cassian Andor show, ponders if it's been delayed or stalled. Finds it weird he's getting info on The Mandalorian season two, Obi Wan and others he can't talk about but nothing on Cassian.

Delayed? They included it on the Star Wars timeline at D23, announced Alan Tudyk returning as K2SO, and Rick Famuyiwa (one of the directors for The Mandalorian) has signed on to direct some episodes. Can't imagine they'd of done all that if it were in the same state of limbo as Rian's/D&D's films.

Also, wish we could get some information on what these "other" series are.

Man I could have sworn before these rumors that Zorri was going to have some role in Rey's background. Especially with an actress of Kerri Russel's caliber playing the part. Honestly, I still think she might since I don't believe these rumors anyway lol

They have a really strong resemblance, but it's amazing how many similar looking white brunettes are cast in Star Wars. Daisy Ridley could easily play Padme's daughter.

I guess BB-8 is off on another adventure with Finn or something?

Add it to the rumor pile:

Matt Dallas reveals that Kylo Ren/Ben Solo's story closely resembles Jacen Solo, from the original novels. He turns to the dark side at one point and has a final duel with his twin sister, Jaina. He turns back to the light at the last moment, but Jaina doesn't believe him and kills him. In the end, he does turn back and is redeemed in his dying moments. It is said that the same happens to Ben. Rey and Kylo have a final confrontation and Ben turns back to the light, but Rey doesn't believe him and kills him once and for all. This lines up with what we have heard with our leaks and if Rey turns out to be Ben's sister, as we have been told, this lines up perfectly. Jacen and Jaina have always been two of the best characters from the original novels and JJ is very much aware of the original EU and is incorporating aspects of it into The Rise of Skywalker.

What's the current status of Hayden Christensen coming back as a force ghost?

My dream of Rey using a double blade is dead (as is Finn being a force sensitive), but Hayden getting some much deserved rehabilitation will still get me in that seat.

That site is BS like The EXpress, WGTC, Moviepilot, Movieweb, ComicbookNews. I get that people hate Holy Trinity's leaks but they have credibility while that gamer site has none. Plus, they are clearly using old MSW leak and EU for their trash.

somerandomweirdguy Hayden status is in limbo. Last thing we've heard about him is that he and Ian McDiarmid had to cancel a convention appearance at Lucasfilm request. So that seemed like something was up. Currently, ever changing leaks (though tbh changes are not big, essence remains just aesthetics change) don't mention him but some other Jedi voices. Hard to imagine his wouldn't be among them. So I'd say he's in and, IMO, he has always been more likely than Ford and yet Ford is in the movie too. So if they could sink whatever truckload of money into Ford's pocket to convince him to film a cameo, they certainly approached Hayden.

Heh that is one crazy eagle-eyed observation. And 9 minutes sounds about right, about comparable to TFA's and TLJ's end credits clocking in at around 8 minutes each.

I just hope Williams devotes the last two minutes of the credits theme with a final reprisal of the Star Wars Main Title theme. It's become something of a trilogy-ending tradition, like he did with Return of the Jedi and Revenge of the SIth:

I just hope that leaked ending is a placeholder and not the real deal. It's absolutely awful with all those people who have no connection to Tatooine being there. It just doesn't feel right. Rey alone would make more sense since she at least had some contact with Luke, but Finn, Poe, Jannah, BB8 and D0 have ZERO. I don't care that they are Rey's freinds, Tatooine isn't about Rey's friends or Rey for the matter. They don't resonate there, period.

That's how franchises with limited number of movies work. They don't spend time fixing characters but moving on from those who aren't popular and replacing them with characters they hope to be more popular for they are designed to be (cooler outfit and weapons, more appealing look, relation to a popular character, cooler profession).

Wouldn't it be great if Rey's mother was Palpatine's daughter, Mara Jade, who had a thing with Luke?

True, of course. It just makes for a fairly awkward aspect of the trilogy, Rose being introduced in an important manner in The Last Jedi only to be sidelined to — what is it that we've heard? She has a few scenes and works at the Resistance Base?

It's certainly better than nothing, at any rate.

Speaking of Rose, I still hope she's in the final trailer that's supposed to come sometime!

155 minute run time for Episode IX?

This weekend theater chains across the US are beginning to receive a run time for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker; meaning that ticket sales will be beginning very soon. The run time they have is 155 minutes, or 2 hours and 35 minutes. This is not the final run time, as the movie is still being edited, but it's close to what the final movie will be. Again, it's what's needed for theaters to block the correct amount of time in their system for showtimes. Usually, the final movie will end up being a few minutes shorter, as it's better to have a little more time to program showtimes than less.

I suspect it will land somewhere in the 140-148 range after editing, but if it does stick above 150 then it'll best TLJ for longest!
