SAY CHEESE! Our latest update brings new ways to show off your modeling skills in space with the addition of new poses and expressions for you and your companions. We excitedly await more showing off of your photography!

We also understand that digipicks are precious, so we've made an adjustment that allows you to Undo without the penalty cost of a Digipick during the Security mini-game.

This update also contains a multitude of fixes to quests, graphics, gameplay, and more - way too many to post here! For all the details on what's in this update, you can find the full update notes on our website.

FEATURES

  • Added the ability to set Expressions and Poses on player and companions in Photomode.
  • You can now open doors and harvest with the scanner opened.*
  • Holding RB or Alt on the Starmap will now show the names of all star systems
  • Setting course on an inactive quest will now make it the active quest.
  • Added support for adjusting FOV when using 3rd Person Ship view.
  • Added an Anisotropic filtering quality slider (PC).
  • Removed the digipick cost for using Undo during the Security mini-game.
  • Added an autosave when fast travelling from a planet's surface to orbit.
  • Updated the Ship UI to perform more smoothly at higher framerates

This is nice, but after two playthroughs I'll wait till an update has more meat on the bone. Here's hoping the expansion is epic.

If you're on PC, we've had a lot of these features through mods already (like smoother starship UI, fov, starmap names) but good to see they are catching up. Hopefully the dlc creation kit is coming... Ah hell we know it ain't coming soon. Lol.

I am interested in how their creation store thingy will be implemented this time around. I feel it is going to be divisive.

Still hoping for more/better quality of life improvements to everything else:
  1. Star traveling (make it quicker/snappier, saved locations and alphabetical lists of systems, let's face it - remove some solar systems - its' too big, etc.)
  2. Planet landing (don't want to be forced to spin around the world in order to land on a place on the opposite side of my view - they are afraid of lists)
  3. Quicker world traversal (even just making the random maps smaller and points of interest closer together, walking is terrible)
  4. Overhaul for literally everything with artifacts (fuck those things, game would be better if removed altogether).
  5. Better object permanence on ships (would be great if there was an easier way to keep objects from tipping over, snap to tables, floor, etc.).
  6. View internals of ships when ship building (being able to block paths as well - let us have more control over our ships).
  7. Reduce the number of same flora and fauna needed to 100% scans (to be honest, just let us scan planets from space and move along).

How much of the game is harvesting and crafting materials? Nothing sounds more boring to me than that. If that aspect can be ignored I may give it a shot now.

No and I don't think there have been any hints towards them adding vehicles.
"New ways to travel" is coming could be rovers, could be in system flight from planet to planet or could be the most underwhelming horizontal boost packs.

I'm baffled that some of these things weren't first week patches. You know, when people were playing the game. That it took months for some of this is just... what the hell?

Games like Cyberpunk continue to be patched 4 years later.
Even Baldur's Gate 3; despite being released in early access in 2020, it probably still has years of bug fixes ahead of it.

It's as big or as small a part of the game as you want. Even if you're into base building and stuff, I found harvesting resources personally to be a pretty inefficient way to get them, versus just... buying them from vendors.
