I did a Callisto playthrough solely on the deck, and it's definitely playable, maybe 45fps and above but inconsistent. Usually stays above 30 but dipped pretty low during two or three encounters (for entire game) but those were pretty short. It's a surprisingly good experience considering how good the game looks.

Wanted: Dead I played through multiple times, it's runs great on the deck, mostly at 60fps but dips in the 40s occasionally. It got a performance patch not too long ago though I didn't notice much of a difference. Really fun game I intend to keep on the device for the foreseeable future. Overall a very good experience on the deck.

Scorn I believe I tried for maybe 5 minutes and it ran fine, meaning above 45fps but I didn't do further testing there - decided those graphics need to be experienced on a larger screen for the initial playthrough.
Thanks! I bought them recently and checked on proton DB, but I trust more in opinions here. I have some games that I checked there and didn't work for me. At least here we can reach some help or feedback.

And these will be the first batch of more "big" 3D games I will play on the Deck. I usually only play indie stuff and emulated games. Glad to see all of them runs well.

I haven't played that game but I wanted to recommend this site for Steam Deck performance stuff: https://www.protondb.com/

Just keep in mind that some of the people are from people playing on a non-Deck Linux system so not all of the comments will apply to you.

And if you wind up getting some use out of the site, it's possible to use Decky to add a ProtonDB badge to your games in the Steam UI. Their ratings tend to be more useful than Valve's verification badges.

Late reply, but thank you so much for this invaluable ressource - much, much appreciated!

Indika seems to detect when you're playing on a Steam Deck and locks away all graphics options.

Is there a command/launch option to hide the fact you're playing on a Steam Deck to stop it from doing this? 🤔

Developers really need to stop doing this. Such a bad precedent. I'd say it's a worse offense than using Steam Cloud to synchronize game settings.

Very annoying, especially as the game seems to tank in spots and I want to see what I could do with lowering all settings and resolution.

I've found "SteamDeck=0 %command%" as a launch option for other games, but that doesn't seem to work in the case of Indika.

Ah well, looks like one I'll have to play on my main PC.

I'm really surprised this isn't holding a flat 60. Hopefully just a factor of it being early in development, pre-optimization, or some Proton hitch.

Stuff like this always just reinforces my belief the Steam Deck is not intended to play day 0 or day 1 releases with. Better to wait a month, get it for less money, and have much better performance.

But that's (PC) gaming in general. If you jump in after the first sale, the experience will be much better than at launch almost always.

Really the problem is games are essentially never released in their final state. That comes much later on.

Hey did something happen recently? Fallout 76 is lagging and stuttering immensely (has never been an issue in them past 2 years)

And trying to play Stellaris, I'm missing all the leader portraits/planet portraits and ship portraits.

Is this just some shit coincidence?

Did something get borked?

Gotta say, Syncthing is an invaluable tool for any games that don't have Steam Cloud support. Got my 7th Heaven and Dead or Alive 5 Last Round saves synced between my desktop and Deck and it feels great.

It's insane how well optimized Hades II is for the Steam Deck. It feels like it barely uses any battery, and it runs silky smooth.
Not to take away anything from the performance of the Steam Deck, which is often remarkable, but Hades (1 and 2) is a 2D game. It would be really surprising if it did not run well on the hardware.

It looks like chiaki4deck is going to be getting an update making it much easier to play completely remotely (i.e., without needing to be on the same network as your PS5).

https://www.reddit.com/r/SteamDeck/s/0R3eHJ4yLN

This is really exciting! The chiaki4deck update a few months ago was a night-and-day improvement in performance for me, so the only remaining downside was not being able to stream outside of the house.

This is invaluable to me syncing my emulator saves between my desktop and steam deck. I have it setup to sync between my desktop, steam deck and a server that's always on and accessible. So I don't even need to make sure both my desktop and SD are both switched on for a short while to get the latest sync, so long as the latest file is able to upload to the server, the secondary device can switch on whenever and grab it. It's a really nice setup.

Cross posting my post from the PC thread:
Done with Dave the Diver. That was fun.

So what should I tackle next? Catch more fishies and upgrade a cute boat? Manage a lamb's cult? Be a wizard with a gun? Be wicked and have no rest? Be one of Morta's children? Or be blasphemous?
One of the "perfect for the deck" games.

I've been feeling lately like the Verified label on Steam games is just a marketing label and not one that means the game is fully playable on Steam Deck. I've played two of the games from the Humble Bundle Deck Building bundle and two of the verified games (Zoeti and Gordian Quest) have clear menu elements that can't be accessed with the buttons, so I have to tap the screen to do certain important menu stuff when it should just work. They also have other issues like not being at the right resolution at the first launch. If they were Playable, they'd have those issues listed or that kind of stuff should be a thing that gets listed, but Verified stuff should still list issues that the game has that the community can report for it.

It feels like the weird little feedback question on every Steam page on the Deck that asks if you agree that it should be verified or whatever should have a second thing to write down what issues you had so that the devs get direct feedback to fix those things, but these games have been verified for several months or a year and it feels like there's no real way to get these issues to the devs outside of the Steam forums that seem mostly lifeless. I shouldn't have to post a thread on the forums.

Has anyone had any luck with getting gyro to work in racing games? The realization that my Deck could be a steering wheel has brought back fond memories of the 360 Wireless Speed Wheel.

I'm seriously considering grabbing one of theses for Hades 2 (although one thing holding me back is there's not really a whole lot else I would play on it right now).

Is the premium one worth the extra hundred bucks if I'm not that concerned about storage? How big a deal is the etched glass?

Awesome Giveaway!

Nex Machina is a great game. Make sure to check protondb as it needs a launch command to boot properly.

Doesn't run the greatest on Deck. Pushes it real hard and cant keep a steady 60 unfortunately. Maybe one to lock at 40.
Thanks for the advice! I've never had to do anything beyond buying and starting a game lol

Thank you FLX-II ! Deathrun TV gives off some Smash TV vibes. Look forward to trying it out.

Happy it helped! One of the few I've come across that needed some tinkering. Nothing major thankfully.

I'd love to see it get an update with deck in mind. It's a great pick up and play game that should be a perfect fit for it.

Are you buying a screen protector? If so, it doesn't matter which display you want as the protector overrides the glass difference.

Otherwise, etched glass is matte, regular is glossy. You can get the matte effect for cheap with the base OLED + a matte protector.
