I wouldn't even want to let a young child near Persona 5. I don't think recognisably among younger audiences is even a factor; otherwise Mega Man and Simon wouldn't be here.
I thought it was obvious that I was more talking about a clearly legit leak that undoubtedly proves they will be in the game (like the Ken Leak from the pre-release hype cycle). There are thousands of fake lists and leaks with Banjo on them, that isn't new.

Kinda disappointed though it's my fault for never playing any of those games. Finally finished P5 a few days ago after playing it nonstop for 2 weeks. Of those characters I've only played RE VII and Jill ain't there if I remember.
I don't have a preference for any of the likely Bandai Namco characters really. I've played Symphonia and a few Tekken games, but I don't particularly care for either (I guess Lloyd would be a bit more cool, since we don't have a dual wielder in Smash).
Nintendo already paid off Sugiyama to get the orchestral soundtrack in the Switch port of XI. If they didn't also make a deal for Smash at the same time, that would be a pretty big oversight on their part.
Banjo's no first-party character (the criteria would definitely be looser, and imho k rool was a great pick), and i would expect the 3rd party to be somewhat active in today's landscape.

It's always been a tall ask to get an MS rep in Smash considering you're dealing with a competitive in the console space rather than a third party. You just accept it was a pipe dream and get on with life. (While enjoying Haruka in Smash)
I figured they would reveal Erdrick somewhere other than the Smash direct since he's kind of a dud. Then they could reveal somebody better on the same day to keep the news cycle positive.
But that makes no sense? They have to have a new update for the new character anyway, unless they plan to timelock them until a proper release. Which would be dumb considering we know how thorough Smash dataminers are.
yup. erdrcik's reveal is a lot more exciting if it's a shadow drop.
I'm pretty sure there is a way to prevent the "fast" dataminers from datamining data to be shadowdropped with a quick unlock (I'm thinking about something along the lines of Nintendo's current preload protection scheme), I'm just not sure (1:) whether the dev team is aware of it and (2:) if it wouldn't affect performance too much given what Nintendo allows developers to do with the Switch.
But Nintendo's still gonna treat Erdrick, or whoever the Dragon Quest rep is, as a big deal. It'll probably be part of their DQ push. Having another reveal not long after would be kinda like admitting defeat.

He'll probably be met with a golf-clap in the West & a thunderous applause in Japan. Dragon Quest is huge in Japan & is the grandfather of JRPGs, with Dragon Quest III being to Dragon Quest as Final Fantasy VII is to Final Fantasy. Even Sakurai loved Dragon Quest III.
