I distinctly remember seas of comments from people that hated the game before that video was ever published.
It didn't help that the intro of Banjo Nuts and Bolts teased the people who wanted a true sequel. (and that now infamous teaser trailer showed no indication the game would be a car builder)

I still hear it's a fun game either way. (despite the grotesque cube banjo)

I liked how Nutty Acres by day referenced Treasure Trove, and then by night it referenced need Witchy World.

They were good about throwing little music nods in. I particularly like when the Jiggosseum theme transitions into a fantastic remix of HailFire Peaks Arena

It's going to be this version

This is the official remix used for all Dragon Quest spinoffs

Yeah, I hope I"m wrong, but I think we'd be fortunate to get a wide variety of music with at least a couple of them being orchestra. If we get remixes then holy hell, I want Gypsy Dance.

That's a good remix though, Bluewind098 !

Sugiyama is trash but ill be damned if 0:30 onwards isn't a banger and needs to be in smash

I don't think I've heard the NES version before, it seems a bit faster tempo, which suits it.

Though, overall I prefer III'S Final Battle music. Sounds great in orchestra AND GameBoy

Hell if they got the rights just throw in the whole Fighting Spirit symphonic track from III which is Battle>Alefgard>Final Battle

Right. So why isn't Kamoshida's Palace the Persona stage? Or even Sae's Palace, since it's where the opening segment takes place
Again, not even close to the same situation. How is Kamoshida's Palace the obvious choice? Mementos is the "main" area of P5. It's the place you keep going back to, it's the embodiment of the Metaverse. Kamoshida's Palace is one of many palaces. Just like CCW is one of many stages in Banjo. Anyone who thought Joker's stage would be anything other than Mementos wasn't paying attention.

You keep bringing up first party stages, but it's a poor comparison, because shit like Mario and Zelda have a ton of stages, not just one and draw from many different things. Guest characters are way different. Castlevania is using...Dracula's Castle, the place the entire first game takes place in and is revisited constantly. It was the obvious choice. Mega Man has Wily's Castle (with some menu asthetics, much like Mementos) which is represented in every MM game in some form, Snake has Shadow Moses, Cloud has Midgar, Sonic has Green Hill etc. All obvious choices.

Based on that, it would be a decent assumption to believe Banjo would get Spiral Mountain, which is in every Banjo game, in some form. It's certainly more likely than just one of the other many levels in the game, which isn't really how any of the other stage representation for third parties works so far.

And it's not even like the other stages aren't worthy or cool, or even better asthetic choices, but it would surprise me based on what we already have in the game.

Nobody thinks of Spiral Mountain as the most obvious choice for a Banjo stage unless you believe in the dumb false meme that Sakurai only picks the first level of a game.

Even Cloud Cuckoo Land is more notable and popular than Spiral Mountain
You're wrong, but that's fine. You're young .

Nobody cares about Spiral Mountain.

It's a very memorable starting area, fun to explore, and has pretty much the second main theme of BK.

Also agree that Click Clock Wood should be the BK stage.

The theme is just jolliness personified and the way it uses bird chirps as part of the melody is Kirkhopian genius.

Can we meet halfway and go with Treasure Trove Cove?

Treasure Trove and Click Clock Wood are easily the two most iconic levels in Banjo-Kazooie; outside of Spiral Mountain and the Lair that is.

My dream stage is a fairly basic stage within Gruntilda's lair, but every now and then the background suddenly shifts and the stage transforms into a roulette of the worlds of Banjo-Kazooie; like how Mario Maker shifts art-styles.

Maybe if you want to keep just one, you can do the same thing as Mementos and set the music

Is it me or is Joker's presence in Smash fairly muted? It doesn't feel like many people talk about him.

Was it? I remember a few ideas being supported before the Mementos 5chan leak surfaced and the datamine confirmed it was the stage.
Mementos was obvious but dreaded, so everyone supported the casino instead. I would still have preferred the casino, but I'm extremely surprised and happy with the way Mementos turned out.

Also Kiryl. That was an old drama cd in the 90s though, right?

Funny thing is Midorikawa also voices Tien in DB Super. I swear English Kiryl (Alec Newman) sounds so much like English Tien (John Burgemeier) it's actually kind of funny.

Yeah, that was an old drama CD. I doubt they'd actually hold to that if it came to it, but it's an amusing connection, lol.

Right. Mementos is the "main" area of P5 that you keep going back to.

So Grunty's Lair should be more likely than Spiral Mountain, no?

I dunno I think Joker is fairly popular. He just won Momocon today which was a major tournament so there's that.

Like I don't know what Joker needs to do considering he's already in and people are used to him. I play him alot and is one of my mains and I follow someone who also mains him

All I want from any BK stage is when playing single player, the music changes dynamically based on where you are.

N64 was my console as a child. I had a snes but N64 was the one I grew up playing, released at a time where I was learning to read and get into video games seriously.

Yet, I never got into Banjo nor ever had a desire to play their games. I played so many N64 games, but Banjo was one I brushed off.

My Rare games were Jet Force Gemini and Golden Eye. DK64 I played but never owned, tho I disliked it because it was boring/unfun to me. Thought it was a terrible transition to 3D unlike Mario which I thought was amazing.

I hope Rare Replay comes to switch. I might give Banjo a chance

A Banjo Kazooie stage should be based on everyone's favorite world: Rusty Bucket Bay! If not that then everyone's second favorite, Clanker's Cavern.

All jokes aside, this post reminded me that we get music in the fighter pack. RBB has one of my favorite tracks in the game (even if the levels is... well, Rusty Bucket Bay) and I could see it being turned into a really cool Smash song if they remix it right (kinda like how Crocodile Cacophony or Gangplank Galleon did for K. Rool).

It's worth noting that between the large roster and fairly big amount of viable characters that chances are people are gravitating towards some of the more easier Top Tiers or their old mains if they're still good.

Joker is good but he requires some effort to play and so people are probably sticking to their old characters for comfort especially since Joker came out 5 months after release. This isn't just a problem for Joker as even other characters like Inkling have had low representation despite how good they are.

The only way a new character is going to break out in a big way is if we get an equivalent to Smash 4 Cloud or Bayonetta and no one wants that to happen again

Joker was such a good DLC character, I love how hes done, definitely a main of mine with Bayonetta. Im looking foward to the next character regardleas of who he is (though id prefer certain characters over others).

Maybe I should just wait until the DLC of the next smash game to choose a main.

To be fair, your assessment of DK64 isn't exactly that off from the consensus.

The best Smash Ultimate player (well top 2) is a Joker main. Tho he really isn't being used competitively. He's well liked by a lot of people, just difficult to use.

The game cast is so large that it's kinda hard to have a single character in the spotlight. It's rather beautiful honestly.

I feel sorry for you skipping out on Banjo for Jet Force Gemini.

I had both (in addition to DK64, 007 and DKR), but greatly preferred the former.

I totally wouldn't mind Erdrick's stage being Ramia being flown around Alefgard ala Pilotwings and other traveling stages.

I have nothing but strong disdain for Sugiyama, but damn if his music doesn't make me feel like a kid watching Fantasia again.
Honestly DQXI really soured me on his music because that soundtrack even in the orchestral versions isn't that good and looking into some of the official renditions of these songs aren't the strongest. For some reason they always choose the blandest possible instrumentation for these songs

However finally digging into this stuff has given me an appreciation for them and I hope the Smash team can work their magic with them because some of this stuff is a little underappreciated. Coming from someone who up until 5 hours ago didn't give a damn about DQ music

I love Jet Force Gemini. My first experience with a shooter, tho difficult to understand. I only spoke Spanish at the time.

I never had any idea what was happening so I used my imagination. Created little stories in my head.
