This is a not so well known retrowave track.
Brilliant nevertheless, reminds me a lot of the Shriekback song from the movie manhunter called This Big Hush:
Porcelain Dream: Tonight

The always brilliant Sebastian Gampl: Under Control

Tonight is a good one, it reminds me more of Love Song by The Cure.

Oh, this is fantastic. I had not heard Dance with the Dead before.
That's probably the hardest they go and they incorporate more pure rock sounds than most synthwave style artists. All their albums have a different overall feel from each other though. I genuinely can't get enough of them.

For a more upbeat and pure synth feel, you guys should check out Galaxion if you haven't already.

I could totally imagine this stuff as the soundtrack to an old school style space shooter.

Just subed! Thank you so much for making this thread! Love finding new music. It is also fantastic music when you are just grinding away in Destiny 2 or Diablo.

I need to explore this thread. I fucking love this genre, largely due to the movies mentioned in the OP. Started listening to Kavinsky thanks to Drive.

And without you. Both feat the very talented Tommy Reeve

And something a bit dark and "crunchy" which is also my favorite track by Power Glove: Motorcycle Cop:

Hope you all enjoy and have a great day.

More Gampl & Reeve, here's my direct capture of "Crush", formerly exclusive to Rad Rush's "Finish Line" compilation, but I believe it's now available as a single on Gampl's Bandcamp:

First sub for ERA. I'm home!

One thing I love about the genre is so many new artists coming in and just so much different types of the synthwave to listen to.

Sebastian Gampl also posted a teaser to his next EP, I really enjoy his sound and songs like City Hunter really remind me of games like Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers. Link below to the Soundcloud,

Super glad to see this thread revived over here! Just saw Perturbator last month and he was fantastic. Hopefully catching DWTD in a week or so.

Haven't seen Electric Dragon posted yet. He has some absolutely killer tracks

Also I hope this isn't too shameless self promote-y but I have a darksynth style track on Brutal Resonance's Halloween compilation.

NewRetroWave bundle is still available. A lot of good stuff in the $3 tier.

https://groupees.com/nrwultra

I just bought that ($10 tier) earlier tonight. Figured the deal was way too good to pass up. :) Can't wait to get it all downloaded and dive in.

Outstanding value, and for a great cause. The Rob Parker, Futurecop! and Waveshaper albums are all great, as are the Bellemaison and Undervatten EPs. And I'm very partial to the "Maximum Burn" collection as well :)

Thanks for the link! A lot of the minimum tier has been in previous bundles, but $3 for that ALEX & Tokyo Rose album is good stuff.

Definitely. I was mainly in it for Magnatron 2.0 but didn't realize I was missing quite a few other albums.

I didn't have any of the non-free releases already, so it was an amazing deal for me. I did have the Maximum Burn collection since it was a free download on bandcamp and I also really liked that one. I'm working my way through all the songs and so far I like the Robert Parker - Crystal City and ALEX & Tokyo Rose albums the best.

Yes, i bought the single track because I love this song so much. When that saxophone comes in... so good.

The saxophone is the reason I like The Midnight so much. Any other recommendations for songs with great saxophone parts?

The Midnight are the best at sax, but...

September 87 -- Bad Dream Baby (first time I saw this music video :D)

Any good songs with vocals/traditional song structure to recommend for me?

So many, but start with FM-84, Gunship, Timecop1983 and The Midnight.

FM-84 -- Running in the Night: https://youtu.be/TvZskcqdYcE

The Midnight -- Synthetic: https://youtu.be/g2aO1XRdkxw

Gunship -- Revel in Your Time (MN1984 Remix) https://youtu.be/lDldMche_ME

Timecop1983 -- Let's Talk: https://youtu.be/mkQ6H21QBXE

Yes, sounds great. Also I love all these songs too. Another song with great sax that I just remembered is Careful Shouting by Highway Superstar from the Kung Fury soundtrack.
