Cruz and other GOP ideologue leaders like him might as well be at the top of their voters' cosmology. Any amount of mental gymnastics is worth it to keep justifying the faith, even to the point of suicide. I mean, there's a million ways to describe everything about them and yet "death cult" makes it so succinct. Just look at how many of them voted Cruz back in over Beto just for the chance to ruin the lives of others around them while only slightly sparing themselves.

2011 was bad, but this has been on a whole 'nother level. Cruz is reaching Teflon Don's level of invulnerability with GOP voters and the party at large, so it'd be nice if even really far-gone people could see him doing this coward-ass move and reconsider things. But I'm barely getting hopeful about that.
