The original Saber. Simple but amazing design
It funny I really do kinda forget it is a game design, well VN but yeah just see so many variation of that design in various media that yeah the OG game is such a classic design.
To reiterate
I honestly fucking adore the character designs in Valorant. When Riot is asked to bring their A game, a lot of times they end up bringing their S+ game instead.
It's just not my style of game, so I couldn't get into it. But if that design was in a game I loved, I'd play the SHIT out of it.

Oh, I know, I guess I didn't express myself correctly, but my point was that the armor itself in all it's permutations (Enclave too to a smaller degree) is cool as hell and every incarnation is iconic, everyone who designed them cooked hard

shame she could've been one of the all time classic FF characters. but like most things in the game the concepts/characters/ect were reduced to a demo reel of what they had set out to do

Soul Calibur is littered with great character designs, but IMO Zasalamel and Nightmare are the series' best ones.

While I often adhere to the idea than a character should be defined by more than their outfits and props, this right here might have an argument for being the best use of outfits, props, and body shape to define a series of character in anything this side of the millennium.
Kimberly (and SF6 in general) ia a great pic because that style is exactly what grabbed me and made my non SF fan self pick up SF (and choose her as a main).
I'd also add Reptile/Syzoth from Mk1. Outclasses even the "main" ninjas imo.

Gotta echo this. I can't believe I forgot to mention Emily from Dishonored 2. Her design is so good I've wanted that in-game painting of her for years.
I mean... these characters have incredible personality and character as well. They both have incredible visual communication while still being more than that.
Mega Man X took everyone's favorite cute blue bomber and turned him into a badass robot warrior. You might even say he's a super fighting robot.
4-year-old me could not tell you of a cooler character design.

Default Dread suit clears this one easy. Actually, the default Dread suit is a top 3 Samus suits of all time IMO.
I always thought this haven trooper design from MGS4 was cool. I think they were also called frogs, probably an acronym.

Not played the game but instantly struck by this lady in Forspoken.
Forspoken has so many good designs.
Frey herself looks pretty good as well.
I adore the design for the Executors in Pathologic 2. A striking mix of imposing, ominous, and theatrical to match the game itself.
Happy to see mentions of Corvo and Emily from the Dishonored games. Most of the characters in those games looked amazing.
My pick which I can't believe hasn't been mentioned yet is the motherfucking G-Virus William Birkin (RE2):
I distinctly remember seeing the original on gaming magazine cover as a kid and being fascinated and horrified by it ever since.
To me it's up there with the Xenomorph in terms of cooking.
