I feel like Ubisoft is using Epic as a scapegoat so they can leave Steam while minimalizing the backlash.
Probably. iirc all these storefronts were selling uplay keys anyway and the games still on uplay. Nothing in the OP indicates Epic jas anything to do with this either. This seems like Ubisoft forcing people to storefronts where they'll take a bigger cut but they've managed to avoid most of the heat for doing this. Epic still sucks but the anger over this should be toward Ubisoft.

Definitely won't be supporting Epic Games with any purchases. But let us not forget Ubisoft agreed to this deal as well.

The PC market is the wrong one to fuck with. It already feels like people have had enough. Epic needs to be careful.

There's an outlet called Gamersgate?

How unfortunate

Been around a long long time. I still might have some things I brough there from like 2010 or something hanging around. I should check my account there lol.

They should keep the name by the way, its the other one that sucks!

So were you just playing devils advocate in the other thread about "working monopoly" and everything? Now EGS is annoying?

Imma wait for epic lovers to come and defend this
Well dont know about Epic lover, but you all need to understand that there is zero chance of any store buying keys from Ubisoft for less than Epic. They aint gonna sell keys to whatever-reseller for the usual 70% of msrp when they get 88% from Epic. Do we know for sure if it is Epic blocking other sites or other sites not willing to do business with a maximum 12% margin?

This will show those multiple, tyrannic key stores how competition works!

I mean, we should try to be fair here. Sure, customers get worse prices and less choice, but on the other hand the struggling company Ubisoft gets more money out of every sale and the little-known game The Division 2 gets more exposure on Epic's store while it would have vanished in obscurity on Steam.

Remember Epic is only acting like anti-consumer douchebags now so they can compete with Steam eventually and then will be totally pro-consumer. They pinky swear...

Quick - does anyone have a very narrow and completely arbitrary definition of the word "Monopoly" that doesn't exist in any dictionary? We need to show how this is Epic trying to slay the horrible status quo.

I love how from the moment they struck gold with Fortnite all moves from Epic are the exact opposite from what Tim Sweeney talked and advocate for the last 5-10 years.

Why did Ubisoft list The Division 2 on these stores in the first place if they didn't want to sell on them?

I think this is great, finally some great competition, how can't you see how this massively benefits the customer in the end?

Yeah...

BUT COMPETITION GUYS
Seriously stop defending this crap people, Epic hated PC gamers last generation & PC gamers are now defending them screwing over consumers getting cheaper games.

We take Games from the corrupt, the rich, the opressors of a generation that kept you down for a generation with myths of opportunity and give it back to you... the devs. Games are yours, do as you please. None shall interfere. But start by storming Steam and freeing the opressed! Valve will be ripped from their decadent nests, and cast out into the cold world we know and endure. Courts will be convened. Higher cuts will be enjoyed. Blood will be shed. The consumers will survive, as they learn to serve true justice. This great industry...it will endure. Games will survive!

Undermining your competition is not quite the most elegant way to try and win the competition, considering it's also rather anti-consumer. Can't support Epic for jumping into the scene like this.

Okay now this is fucked.

They predate GamerGate. They should really rebrand though.
No, they shouldn't. Re-branding at this point will lose them a lot of customers, not to mention the headache of changing name, logo, registering said name, etc, etc. It would cost a lot to do for something that doesn't really affect them

Can't support either with this decision.

I already pre-ordered the division 2 from gmg but this will harm the chances of getting future Ubisoft games if they are isolated to Epic.

I hate the Epic store for what it has become, a monopoly on new releases.

We don't know the exact details of how the deal was negotiated but both sides definitely played a part. I would say it was Epic who reached out so they take most of my blame

a Socialist Utopia
I'm going to delete the Epic/Fortnite launcher from my kids' computers today. That shit is no longer welcome in this household. They will understand as we've talked about shitty publishers/corporations before.

Terrible decision i dont know how they get the cheek to say it helps competition its litterally the opposite. Surely its gotta hurt the sales i dont know how much of an Epic cheque theyd need to even that out.
