Watching Gundam Narrative now and its by far the worst Gundam anime of all times. I heard it was bad but dear god I couldn't imagine it could be this bad.
A significant part of this film is not understanding that the part in Gundam Crossbone: Skullheart where they explain that the Zeong was built because the Zeon saw a ball with a Gundam faceplate and therefore thought that the Earth Federation had a 40 meter Gundam was meant as a joke.
The Robots are so overpowered that its just a Super Robot series taking itself way too seriously.
"I will become a bird too". That's right up there with "I am Gundam" as the worst line in Gundam history.
Gundam Narrative is Harutoshi Fukui talking about how much he loves Tomino and towards the end he just starts talking about how great Ideon is. It tries so hard to be Tomino without the emotional weight that Tomino's work has so instead all you have is just a bunch of weird ideas that don't work at all. I have never watched Ideon outside of the ending but just the ending has more emotion than this entire film has. You don't need to know who Cosmo Yuki is because Tomino imparts so much emotion with just the scene itself.
