Sorry if this has been answered to death, but what does this actually do to Trump outside of piss him off. I know impeachment doesn't get you kicked out of office, as this is the second one. Is it just pretty much accusing him of a crime?

They're doing their constitutional duty. They can't use the assumption that republicans won't do their duty as a reason to not do theirs, at least, not when the crime is this extreme. He incited an insurrection against the capitol that got people killed. You can't just not react.

As a practical matter, at minimum, you force republicans to go on record in defense of this heinous crime. Though unlikely, if he can be convicted in the senate, it'll strip trump of some of his presidential privileges like SS protection and also they can prevent him from ever holding office again.

Did anyone else see before Nancy signed the document, someone in the room before did the OK sign. Someone else on twitter pointed it out. It was on CNN? Guy was in red hoody.

It used to mean OK and still does in many cases, but it was recently (last 5 years or so) co-opted by white supremacists as a dog whistle.

Count down until the deluge of spineless Rs to chime in saying how honorable and noble and righteous their president is for being the lone voice calling for peace in these trying times.

I hate this year already.

I always thought it was literally just a hand signal for "Ok" but apparently it's some white power thing.

It was until some 4chan dipshits decided to see of they could create media outrage by making up a story about how it was a white power symbol, it worked but with the internet being the internet and people in general being shit it actually became a real white power symbol.

There were variations of it used in white supremecist gangs (like sideways, or pointing down), but a standard "ok" hand sign was also co-opted as a white supremecist signal when Trump was in office. It started as a 4 Chan or 8 Chan "prank" to make liberals and progressives look foolish, but was adopted so much by white supremecists that it's a very common usage now. It's very mainstream these days, surprised you hadn't come across it.

Then why didn't the Democrats wait to have the senate majority before impeaching? Unless they're confident that enough republicans will vote to convict him.
Because we weren't going to get it either way. There needs to be some sort of pushback on the bullshit he pulled, hence impeachment from the House.

Democrats will have the Senate majority as the Senate is out of session until the 19th. Really, they can have the trial whenever they want. Trump being impeached now has no affect on when the trial has to be held.

Do you actually think trump will be convicted in the senate? Heard that 15 republicans would need to vote for it
