I would imagine that most everyone on this forum [and around the world] has seen this movie. It came out in 2003 and as soon as I saw this scene, I knew exactly what famous scene/art they were referencing.

I'm just kind of curious to see how many of you can answer this correctly :)

And that correct answer is rooted in pop-culture - so I'm curious ResetEra - I love all of you; - what say you?

What famous video game/pop-culture reference is this scene depicting?

I don't remember the date the game out, but I thought of P.N.0

EDIT: forgot the number. P.N.03

I would of guessed it was referencing an anime like Ghost in the Shell or Akira or something (idk haven't seen any of those but they sound correct).

Catwoman's super from Injustice 2 rips this off but that's the opposite of what you're asking.

The answer is nothing.

I was going to say that 'anime' game Bungie made and nobody played except me and some other crazy people, but if you say 'famous' then no.

edit: Oni.

When the op finally posts it'll be a mix of people saying they kinda sorta see it and others saying it's not even close.

Edit: probably something dumb like ocarina of time

Spiderman has been doing the pose for years so it's honesty just a cool looking pose and I don't think it's trying to reference any certain video game.

The *pose* that Trinity lands in, is a distinct homage from a piece of artwork from a very beloved 1997 PlayStation game and that's the last hint you'll get...

Perhaps...;)

I looked at the cover of the most famous game released in the year leading up to 2003, and I just don't see it.

1998. It's from 1998. We just had a big thread on its 20th anniversary and lots of websites did articles on it.

1998.

Is there an interview with the Wachowski's confirming this or do you just assuming every action movie landing comes from MGS?
