I know I'm super late to this but my son finally opened the Titans Return Overlord that Santa got him (Trypticon is still in the box for now) but man this toy is fantastic. And I have Carnifex already (which is why my son got the Titans Return version). A shame most people will never ever see it at retail.

I picked Overlord up the other day, since he is on sale @ Amazon. Can't beat one of the better TR leaders for under $40.

Also found a lone Grimlock at TRU this weekend. Awesome figure. Too bad about the lack of weapons though. This figure pops with them.

I dunno, I'm having a lot of buyer's remorse with Grimlock. He's still better than Starscream, but making him a combiner component just compromised the figure in every imaginable way. Dino mode is garbage.

Does anyone else find it odd that there's like no mention on the boxes of PotP that indicates these can be combined? I mean, each of them has a picture of the combined mode, but that just seems confusing. I mean there's a purple robot I assume is the gestalt Jazz belongs to on the side of Jazz's package, and that's it. Starscream and Grimlock, same thing, just a painted picture on the side of the box.

Hasbro is really underselling this line. Only mention of the combiners is in the instructions.

The leaders have hit stores, and Rodimus Prime is pretty sweet. The strange shoulder hinges no longer faze me. The included version of Hot Rod destroys the TR version. I am tempted to pick up Optimus Prime now.

Speaking of Exkaiser, it's a shame Takara never followed that duo with other Brave MPs.

Ah, I see. I'm extremely ignorant of all things Eldran.

Speaking of Exkaiser, it's a shame Takara never followed that duo with other Brave MPs.

True that. Although, having both the original and MP Exkaiser, pretty much everyone from GaoGaiGar's original toys, and CM Corp's combining Genesic GGG, I'm pretty much all brave'd out.

Man, I sure used to have a lot more spending money before I got into indie game development. :D

I collected the original Brave toys when they were easier to find about a decade ago. Great Exkaiser was the cream of the crop for me, a medium-sized robot that can control a much bigger class robot that can combine with another big robot to form a gigantic robot. It's a beautiful toy. Strange fact: I actually acquired mine new in box for a few hundred from a museum in Montana, of all places.

Is there a Power of the Primes Optimus going to be released soon?

Yes he should be on store shelves as we speak. Check brickseek to find him in your area.

Yeah, mine are from well over a decade ago too; they GGG toys were already old, but I lucked out and could find most of them for their original prices or even cheaper (I got a second hand but otherwise perfect condition King J-der for like 30$, which is crazy considering how huge he is). I imagine they would be quite hard / expensive to find now. The Exkaiser MP and the GGGG gokin I got on release, though.

Someone's finally making a third-party Nautica. If they nail the head sculpt like they did with their Rodimus (and include a visor and wrench), this might be the first third-party I end up picking up.

Also the new Lost Light preview looks great. Nice to have Milne back.

The Lost Light preview has me excited because they might dig up Tailgate.

Kinda seems like JRo is rushing to conclude stuff if he does get saved so early, though.

It's kind of surprising it took so long for someone to make one. On the other hand she was introduced in "season 2".

I was thinking that someone should make a third party Titan Master (or non-transforming head) for the official Nautica, but then I remembered you can only get her as part of a set.

You should definitely spoiler tag that bit (people not caught up won't even know
he was buried
). :)

So I got to watch all the episodes of Beast Wars recently and it got me thinking how much they squandered Tigatron and Air Razor's characters after the 1st season (Terrosaur and Skorponok too but they weren't interesting to say the least). In season 1, they built up Tigatron as this cool cat who is also a lone wolf and works a bit astray from the Maximals, preferring to live in the wilderness. Air Razor, despite not having as much character development since she was introduced later in the season, was supposedly the little sister of the Maximals and was the implied romantic interest of Tigatron. In the start of season 2, they were taken out of the picture and "killed off" when we see them again in the middle of the season. And no, TigerHawk is an entirely different character who was killed off by the next episode after he was introduced. Part of me was hoping they had at least one episode focused on them to build up their relationship and to put more meaning on their "deaths". I dunno, whenever I see people bring up Beast wars as the golden standard for writing in a Transformers show, I kinda agree for the most part until I look at how they kill off certain characters to introduce newer ones just to sell more toys. At the very least Dinobot had a respectful send off.

My package from China arrived with six tightly packed figures. I'm leaving Racist Jazz in the box for now since I didn't really want him.

Beachcomber is excellent, just a well executed figure who completes my Cybertron crew. No complaints.

Dreadwind is kind of strange. I didn't get any of the Aerialbots so the mold is brand new for me, but it feels a bit skinny. The plane mode is actually more accurate, I think the loss of the cockpit transformation removes a big part of his look, like when they made the Autobot cars into combiner limbs. At least once I get Darkwing I can remove my custom figures from the shelf.

Slag is good, he's chunky enough and is very close to the original. Giving him a neck is a must. Maybe the plastic feels a bit soft and cheap.

Swoop is great in robot mode and pretty good in dino mode. He really could use a stand. He feels a lot more premium than Slag for some reason.

Finally Grimlock, who has a pretty damn good robot mode although a severe lack of weapons, and the top half of the t-rex looks great but yeesh, the legs are too wide apart and they didn't even try with the tail.

I think I will display these guys in robot mode once I have them all, but they really could use more weapons. All those transforming blocks are a waste of plastic since I will never bother with the combined form.

Overall decently happy with these but Grimlock actually looked worse in-hand than in videos.

Racist Jazz??? You mean his live action counterpart?

And no, TigerHawk is an entirely different character who was killed off by the next episode after he was introduced.

Tigerhawk is a funny case since it seems Hasbro wanted to withdraw the demand to kill him but by the time they did too much work was done on the episode and so he stayed dead.

If you have older Combiner Wars toys, they used to come with melee weapons in addition to their hand/feet guns. I never found a place for them when they're combined, if you have some perhaps the dinobots would benefit from them, especially painted red or something.

Weird, IIRC there were many ports you could attach them too, unless you thought it was too unsightly or something. But yeah that does sound like a good use for them. Swoop at least already comes with a cool sword.

I've been impatiently checking for leader-class toys, but those spots are still clogged with movie toys and, in some areas, stuff like Armada megatron. I don't think I've ever seen an Overlord or Sky Shadow once, so I'm not sure when the new leader stuff will hit at the local Target.

Off-topic PSA: Playmates Classic Voltron '84 lions are out in the wild. I found Black Lion at Target. Can't find the limbs yet.

This is the most affordable classic Voltron released in a while.

I've seen the Black Lion everywhere, and none of the other ones, I don't even think they're out yet. Which means the black lion is kind of useless.

They're out there, the problem is they share the same UPC with the modern lions. If a store orders a box, they'll get a mix of classic and modern limbs. So they are a clusterfuck to find atm.

So this also means if stores are clogged with the modern lion limbs, they won't even order the wave that includes the classic lions?

I'm hoping stores will get with the program eventually. Those modern limbs have been out for over a year now.

TRU and BBTS should have the classics soon also.

Distribution in my neck of the woods fell off a cliff with Revenge of the Fallen and never really recovered. There's a crazy amount of product that I've never seen in person.

I wound up ordering a bunch of the Japanese releases of the Titans Return figures partially because I just never saw anything around here (and partially for the unique accessories the Japanese releases have). I just got an order with the Japanese Octane and Slugslinger. Both are actually very nice and Slugslinger is surprisingly easy to transform. I've never seen either figure locally though.

Speaking of these though, what's up with the pack-in comics? How did those get approved? The Octane one was him and Tigatron making gravure idol videos of female Transformers as well as rather strongly hinting at them making full on pornography, too. Slugslinger's comic has him using Targetmasters to disintegrate women's clothing, and Kickback's comic has him making clones to eat through (again) women's clothing.

Yeah, that seems about right. I don't know what the fuck Takara is thinking, every time one of these is posted in seibertron.com I have to scroll down as fast as I can to avoid death by facepalm. Kind of amazing that the western equivalent would be MTMTE / LL, with their respectful and heartwarming portrayal of gay couples and transgender characters.

Honestly I think the Legends comics would be something I would be totally down with if it wasn't for all the pervy stuff. I like Sakamoto's art style.

I know I'm like one of the few who reads the Optimus prime comic, but it looks like its back on track. GI JOE is still around, but the focus seems to be returning back to Cybertron and the Primes again.

I'm just gonna assume all y'all were so pleased with Lost Light #13 you can't put into words how fantastic it is
Of course Ultra Magnus would need to organize a mandate for happiness.
Can't leave anything without having it organized
Also I think Ratchet's possessed Ten or we're just reading what Ten is saying when he says 'ten'

I found it eh but the best thing you left out was
Tailgate is dead! Okay I know it's Roberts so he'll show up again eventually but for now I shall enjoy the fact he's suppose to be DEAD.

Tailgate better not have gotten killed off-panel.

Perhaps it's because I'm currently going through a massive flu and I read it with a 38.5º C fever, but I found it a bit chaotic with all these plot threads and fakeouts going on, especially the cramped art which sometimes made it hard to me to follow what was going on. Then again "cramped" is probably the entire intention.
I also had trouble adjusting to the tonal mood changes, but that's LL's trademark so again that was probably the fever speaking. I'll have to re-read again when I'm back to being a semblance of a person...

I like Anode~

So TF4 is showing on TV atm and I am laughing my ass off on War scarred homicidal Optimus Prime.
