With the ammount of fascists and generally horrible men trying to crack down and shame anything that does not zieg heil, there kind of is, right now, a soft global internet ban on not comforming.
I mean, you can, but then you have to deal with harassment, which is a horrible thing to demand of people. I mean [2], this is why we have this site, right? This is why losing NeoGAF forced us to build another forum, because we can't just join any forum because most of the internet is infested with nazis.
Tumblr has nazis, but you could, somehow, do your kinky and/or LGBTQ shit there and be relatively free from harassment. Finding places on the internet where nazis are not putting their own rules about what is acceptable and what is not is incresingly difficult.
Nazis have already been slowly taking over the site, so the exodus will probably grant them total control, exactly like what happened with GAF.
As an NSFW artist it would have been NICE if they at least gave me a warning before outright deleting my blog. Up until this point I had been following all the rules. I had my account for over 5 years, and that was a TON of followers to lose in an instant. No chance to inform any of them, or even give me half a second to try and migrate some of them to a new platform. It's really shitty the way they handled this.

I think it's a little dishonest to sweep away criticism of this change to people merely being upset about not being able to get their hardcore porn fix. There have been other sites for that and there will continue to be other sites for that (although, don't get me wrong, Tumblr was good for that too). What will be gone is that glorious gray area where artistic adult expression thrived on Tumblr. It was part of what contributed to Tumblr being considered the Left's alternative to reddit.
On Twitter, people are posting screencaps of posts that have been flagged from removal and...and, it's just sad.

This will destroy the LGBT communities I cherish on Tumblr, and remove the only reason I still use it. Fuck. It's not about "porn" at all; it's one of the few places on the internet where expression of sexuality and adult themes in the context of art and community could openly occur. Terrible news.
From what I've seen on Tumblr different people are going different places. Deviantart, Twitter, Newgrounds, Discord, that Mastodon thing, Pixiv, two new sites that seem to be trying to be direct competitors, various rule 34 sites etc.
But they'll be left with a husk of site just shouting incessantly into the void
Tumblr just murdered their website. Only thing I went there for was the NSFW and fanart. Hope Tumblr loses a ton of revenue and users from this. Hate it when companies go all Puritan because they are too incompetent to properly keep the illegal content off the site.
I really do not get why they didn't make 18+ content an opt in option, with tons of automated filters and human moderation for content that was meant to be SFW. How do you fail so horribly at moderating an entire platform and have such a knee-jerk reaction to CP (literally how hard is it to moderate this crap, it's not like other platforms don't have to deal with this problem as well) and porn bots that the "best" solution is to just straight up ban and flag all "adult content" by using the most broken AI ever for it?

So as I understand it this ban will also cover nudity in screen grabs of movies as well. So no more Charlize Theron's breasts in 2 Days in the Valley, or Theon Greyjoys willy in GoT.

About a year or so ago I saw something very disturbing on tumblr so I'm glad they're doing this. I haven't been back since because I couldn't believe what people were getting away with posting and what kind of circles were on that site. I'm talking illegal shit that makes you paranoid about seeing it and makes you want to delete your harddrive before the FBI breaks through your front door.
This would be their best shot if they opened to the public, but as of now, all they're doing is informing tumblr users that they can pay 5 bucks to join.

Pornhub's owners should found a new NSFW version of tumblr for the lewds and destroy the original tumblr. At least all the NSFW artists and content creators I follow have all migrated to Twitter and have their content there as well.
$5 a month and you don't have to worry about them being banned :D
