I don't know the logistics but - for instance - the Matrix UHD, Braveheart UHD etc are Atmos.
Even the 62-year-old Bridge on the River Kwai has an Atmos track. I don't have an Atmos setup to comment on its quality, but it's there.

So clearly it is possible to retrofit Atmos into a sound track. I wonder why they didn't bother with Alien then. Sorry Bumrush.
I'm just bummed because it does make a noticeable difference in the immersion of a film, and if ANY film ever made relies on immersion, it's Alien.
I can't close apps by holding down the home button and they removed the wifi signal icon, why? I don't fucking know. It doesn't feel snappy on my X800D to me.Why? I'm absolutely loving using it. It's snappier than before and everything just looks cleaner.
LCD wise Im super happy with my 900f and the 950 is pretty close to it if that helps. Great panels. OLED is obviously better in contrast if you can afford it.Thinking of finally jumping up to a 65" HDR display.
Am primarily looking at Sony and maybe LG OLED as options.
Right now the Sony OLED 2018 A8F is maybe a front runner, but also the LCD 2019 X950G that just released is tempting.
I may also wait if there is anything more exciting planned to release later this year? Anyone know or have thoughts?

What kind of audio setups does everyone have with their TVs?
I've been sitting for this for almost year but being budget limited makes this choice the hard and really if I'm getting something cheap to pair with B7, might as well not get anything has been train of thought but as things ain't looking much better might just bite the bullet and grab some cheap-o "decent" soundbar, current candidate is YAS-107.
Other option is to route headphone cable to Sofa since I do have proper Hi-Fi headphones (Fostex TH-X00 w/ ODAC) but thick cable is making it really unappealing.
I go through an AVR for sound. My UHD player and PC has two HDMI ports so I run them to the TV and also to the receiver that is 5.1. Dont really have room right now for dolby atmos. Switch and base PS4 through receiver. What kind of audio setups does everyone have with their TVs?

5.1 with the Sony STR-DN1080 receiver. What kind of audio setups does everyone have with their TVs?

I use my C8 as is as the sound is good enough for my needs. If I need to keep the volume down out of consideration for the neighbours [I live in a flat] then I use wired headphones. The idea of a proper surround system is appealing but not at the expense of being an inconsiderate neighbour.
Similar situation here so I just use the tv speakers throughout the day and headphones when I'm watching a disc. My player (Panasonic UB900) has an option to downmix whatever surround track is playing to a hi-res 96khz/24-bit stereo stream and output that via optical. I then feed that into a FiiO Alpen portable DAC/amp and listen with a pair of Sennheiser HD600 cans. It's a bit of a rough solution but it didn't require any additional investment and does the job for now.
There's already one user on the AVSForum who has gotten access to the new firmware and also confirms that the problem has largely been fixed. LG seems to have made some gamma adjustments and implemented dithering in the lower range, which has eliminated this problem in most material (including the infamous scenes from Vikings and the Handmaid's Tales). Said user also mentioned it made improvements to banding and uniformity on his TV, which makes sense now that dithering has been added. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the changes to the picture that come with this fix, they believe that people who have had their set calibrated may need to get theirs redone. Also, this a firmware fix that only applies to LG sets at the picture processing level; OLED TVs from other brands will have to implement their own fix since they all use proprietary processing. That's good to hear but I'd rather hear feedback from users as Archer was pretty useless when it came to reporting the B6 issues I mentioned before.

I wouldn't say that LG is any less reliable than the other brands. Sony's first OLEDs had a dimming issue that I don't believe was ever completely fixed and their Dolby Vision support wasn't executed well. Panasonic's OLEDs from last year exhibit a random hitching or stutter with a 24p signal. The only other major issue with last year's LG models (other than uniformity problems) is a buzzing power supply on some of the 77C8's, but we don't know if there's going to be a fix for that yet.
Fair point. I was particularly bitter the morning I made that post as I had to recalibrate my set (again) after downgrading to working older firmware.
In a complete change of subject - has anyone else watched the series Ozark in Dolby Vision. Season 2 specifically? Is it an issue my end or is the picture very dark and dull?
When I still had a non pro ps4, HDR would only display right if I outputted in full RGB, but I'm not sure why that results in a washed out image for you.Hello guys! I desperately need your help on an issue.Ive always gamed on monitor so all my consoles were just plugged in with no issues. I recently purchased an lg 4k tv (49uj634v) plugged my trusty old ps4 slim on it and was amazed by the dark blacks and colourful colours. that was until I tried Outlast 2 on it. I can't see a damn thing in dark areas. I researched a bit about it and realised I am supposed to use black level high since my rgb level on ps4 is full but doing that makes everything washed out and the colours weak. What am I doing wrong? Also when gaming in HDR the colours looks washed out with black level high. Am I supposed to tweak my tv? IS the ps4 supposed to look so bad with the tvs recommended settings? Is my cable faulty or my tv (I don't think so since my Nintendo switch with full rgb looks awesome and black level high) Please help me resetter people.
Thanks a lot in advance and sorry for the long post and my bad English . Have a great day.

And yes, Ozark has terrible overall PQ in my opinion. I agree with your assessment and that is on OLED, LED and my iPad.

Ozark was very dark for me too. Netflix is weird with Dolby Vision. Some shows look phenomenal, and some others look really bad. DV is very hit and miss on Netlflix I find. I hope they get better in the future.

Unlike the Pro, regular PS4s don't do YUV when in HDR, allowing you to select black level on your TV.
Maybe someone more experienced can comment. Bad picture output should only occur when there's an RGB level mismatch between your TV and device (either crushed blacks or a washed out image). The only thing I remember with the standard PS4 though is getting crushed blacks with HDR when I used limited - limited on my KS9000 (SDR is fine and looks the same between limited-limited and full-full). I can't really tell if it was a problem unique to my TV because I have yet to find anyone with the same problem.maybe I got used to the more saturated colours of the faulty combo?every colour looks weak in comparison now and in HDR its even more pronounced.
Those gaming numbers are impressive for Sony. Still unfortunate that Sony is using Android TV.
Why don't you like Android?
Also, well done Sony, let the contrast go to shit for viewing angles and still getting the same complains about them. XDR10 for the win.
It sounds like the Oreo update has resolved a lot of performance issues that older versions of Android Tv had. Although I did read that older sets like the 900e are extremely buggy and you might not want to update. 😬
Google basically ported Android for phones to TV. That means all the bad shit about Android came along with it. I can't find the videos right now cause i'm on my cell. One, it's slow and clunky to navigate and use, especially when compared to webOS or Tizen. It crashes more than any other TV OS. Having to turn off several services just to get better performance from the TV is embarrassing (see HDTVtest video). And the last thing, Android is notorious for is slow updates. I think we've been on Android P for 6 months now and I don't think it'll hit Sony TVs until 2020. Even when it does hit, I don't expect across all of Sony's range; even TVs from just 2 years ago they won't get Android 9.Why don't you like Android?
