Amouranth is one of the largest hot tub streamers on Twitch. There has been on going debate in the community about how to handle hot tub streamers (separate section, bans) with Twitch remaining largely silent on the matter. That appears to have changed with this move from Twitch.

Additionally, it sounds like they stopped ad revenue on her channel before informing her so she was running ads for free basically. In this clip, Asmongold, another streamer, had been receiving forwards from Amouranth of her communications with Twitch and relates the lack of payment issue:

To give an idea of the revenue she is losing (Credit to Theia):

I had no idea ads brought in so much money on twitch, holy shit.

Edit:
Wasn't sure if this should go in EtcetEra or Gaming (Twitch but Just Chatting?) so feel free to move if I put it in the wrong place

Edit 2:
Added more context

Don't know who this but that sounds ridiculous and she definitely should have been notified that she was running ads without being paid at a damn minimum.

With regards to a warning before though I don't think most places give people that courtesy for bans or things like this.

Isn't she infamous for wearing clothing that is revealing and thrives off of it? (I could be 100% wrong)

I figured they would do something like this to combat that hot tub meta. I'm sure a lot of advertisers weren't thrilled but I really hate how twitch goes about this sort of thing. They act and never reach out or give any reasoning. Same with Doc who still never got word of why he was banned.

Already saw some streamers reacting that they wish Twitch would do the same for their channels as they never wanted ads in the first place lol. Obviously, it's different for Amouranth. Really sucks that she's losing a significant revenue stream due to Twitch's fervent dedication of being wildly inconsistent in how it handles its business and completely clandestine in how it communicates with the people that generate revenue for the platform. Par for the course for how they do things.

she could do ritualistic murders in the name of Satan in her channel (and it would be up to twitch for allowing it) and removing ad revenue without communicating the channel would still be wrong

Twitch's lack of transparency is super shitty. Nobody knows (publicly) why Doc was banned to this day. I hope once all the legal shit is settled we learn the truth, but I'm guessing it will be settled with an NDA.

I'll need some context op.
We need context. Like does this have to do with the hot tub controversy?
Most likely. Technically they aren't breaking any rules since those bathing suits are proper attire for being in hot tubs and twitch has said as long as the content itself is not sexual in nature they are within the guidelines but it's become pretty widespread on the site to have streamers be in hot tubs and thongs their entire stream and well most people expected something to happen and this might have been the first. Still as always twitch has shitty communication and can't even make and follow proper streaming guidelines.

Yes, she's a hot tub meta streamer, but they still need to inform her of changes like this even if they don't like what she's doing.

Literal Child Porn was legal in Japan until like 2018 because "Its not porn its just a 12yr old girl in a bikini shaking her ass in a pool!!!!"

Whatever the view on her content, "we let you run ads for a week, we just decided we'd keep all the revenue generated during that time with the content you made that we say we don't like" seems shady to say the least.

For those wondering, she said the ad revenue she would earn per month was $35k-40k.

She was making 35k-40k a month off ads, definitely hurts.

Her partner manager didn't even know about this so this is likely an order from someone higher up.

For future reference, if you;re gonna post about a random streamer, some context for who that streamer is how this news affects them would be appreciated.

Twitch is the world's leading video platform and community for gamers.

She does stuff like this all day long. Not exactly surprising.

Yeah... this sucks. I'm one of the people that thinks that this kind of content is harmful to the platform (since they are not Just chatting) but Twitch's lack of action is baffling. And when they do take action is so one-sided like this? I mean, it's not like she's breaking any guidelines, if you don't like this then make something about the guidelines.

Yep, and that's how Twitch rolls. Their entire operation is the equivalent of an email sent at 4:59pm on a Friday.

Regardless of the streams, the lack of transparency is the issue. Especially when the overall terms of service are fuzzy in terms of what is allowed and not. They should have been informed of this immediately but instead they were running ads that she didnt even benefit.

twitch moderation is beyond arbitrary. It's impossible to know who they're gonna hit and for what reason.

It's definitely true that the 'hot tub meta' skirts some lines and raises some questions, and if twitch wants to moderate that differently than they have been or update their TOS, they have a right to do it, but the way to make that change is to make a public statement explaining what they're changing and why they're changing it, not sniping a single streamer without informing and then...idk, I guess hoping people pick up what's changing from context?

If this has nothing to do with that...then there's no reason they shouldn't be capable of telling her in clear terms what it IS about.

Twitch moderation legit feels like one person who goes into the office and decides who to hit or what to enforce based on their mood that day

Well this is not porn at all and if they put rules forward to ban this sort of attire streamers would abide. They are not breaking any rules.

After continuous complaints and accusations from the streaming community, Twitch's head of creator development decided to address the hot tub meta. Marcus "djWHEAT" Graham acknowledged that some people are "disappointed" by Twitch's content. But he simply told Twitch users to ignore the hot tub streams and use the "I am not interested" button.

"Look, I know that it doesn't solve anything. But there needs to be at least a solution for individuals that are like, 'I see this content and I would prefer not to see this content,'" djWHEAT said.

"We covered this with a bit more detail in yesterday's Let's Chat stream, and made it clear that the T&S team was aware of this and was watching it closely. My response was nothing but honesty around how I have not watched more than two minutes of these streams," djWHEAT said to critics on Twitter.

Agreed entirely. The old hot tub/only fans promo bs that they do hurts the platform.

That said they need to be straight forward with it and transparent.

Welp, today I learned there was actually hot tub streaming on Twitch lol. Have I been away from Twitch that long?
Also, shitty from Twitch to not notify her properly, but hey, if there's an audience for it maybe create a 18+ section? It wouldn't be porn per se and it would allow these types of streamers to thrive doing something that people are apparently very willing to watch and invest money in.

This only makes sense if the advertisers complained or if Twitch is changing their policies.
