Streamers used the vagueness of the rules to create the hot tub meta when they knew that it was not what was intended. Twitch is using the vagueness of the ToS to fuck one of those streamers

Just make a Mature / NSFW category (no ads though) at this point and let streamers do it or ban it altogether if you do not approve it. This lack of transparency from Twitch is the reason why Twitch staff is not liked by people.

Who pulled the ads twitch or twitch on demand from the companies?
Am I misunderstanding the situation?

Because it sounds like there's a week where the ads didn't even get pulled, they just stopped passing the revenue split on. The ads kept appearing, which would be an odd thing if the push here were coming from advertisers who didn't want to be associated with it?

It's not porn. But the whole point of the hot tub meta is to show enough that the watchers wanna see more and will go pay for their only fans or their porn content. It's porn advertising. Nothing wrong with porn but Twitch isn't the place for it

That's the thing, Twitch has yet to lay down ground rules about this and the use of the inflatable pool gives people a loophole to be in their bathing suit. "I'm not gonna swim in the pool in jeans, so here's my skimpy bikini top and thong." Creating rules around sexuality has gotta be incredibly tough for them, because a lot of it is perception.

At the same time though, Twitch doesn't have very strong competition, so it's not like these hot tub streamers could take their show somewhere else if Twitch formally shut this down.

Yup.

And now that it became a trend on the platform, much to the chagrin of more orthodox streamers, it's clear Twitch wants to send a strong signal to get your shit together. A lot of people probably saw this coming from a mile away.

And if it's off of twitch, why does it matter?

Seems to be the case. I don't understand why Twitch has to be so sneaky about this though. Just lay down some rules

The last time they clamped down on streamers showing skin it became an issue of itself. Twitch is definitely in a hard place because people think streamers should be allowed to show a little skin as long as it's not sexual in nature, which then caused twitch to allow less clothing if it made sense. So like if you were doing a workout vlog a guy can be shirtless, bathing suits are okay at the beach or pool(or hot tub), but now it's being taken advantage of for content.

Personally, their guidelines are fine but the exploitation of it by some is kind of eh.

Are you genuinely arguing--in good faith--that someone wearing a bikini is porn?

(Yes, she was doing it for titillating purposes, but if that's your point you should make it clear)

Literally the shit people in Japan used to keep child porn around and legal until the late 2010s.

A woman or girl wearing a swimsuit isn't porn, but the whole humping an inflatable banana or the whole "oops I dropped something time to show my ass to the camera for the 8th time this hour" is porn. Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition is porn.

Basically Onlyfans girls found a loophole around being extremely lewd and used it. Everyone knows it shouldn't be allowed but Twitch is clearly struggling in figuring out how. They didn't do the right thing.

Like it's obvious what girls like Amouranth are doing, it's Myfreecams without the outright nudity.

I think it needs to be age gated to 18+ at bare minimum. None of this "meant for mature audiences click here to watch anyways"

People on the platform feared hot tub streamers were going to affect the ad revenue for the entire site eventually. Most knew Twitch won't do anything until a big advertiser tells them to/requests to pull their ads from the site. Guess advertisers started seeing her stream and see her as unfriendly. I guess since they haven't updated the TOS, they had to resort to individually removing ads from streamers until they update their TOS.

It isn't surprising at all that advertisers would want to pull back from Twitch and disassociate from what is basically soft-core porn lol.

Do you, like, look at adults on a beach and have this same "if I delete an enormous amount of context and ignore ages, this is just like child porn in japan" reaction?

Everybody in this story is well over the age of 18. Nobody is defending sexualizing children. This is just all a bizarre non-sequitur on your part.

That's the point though. They didn't remove the ads. Just the revenue from it. Without telling the people still running the ads

The type of content she streams doesn't matter over the fact that Twitch should notify their partners of any changes that affect them monetarily and ways to correct the issues to regain that revenue stream. Like... Every other streaming service has this. Their lack of communication and the lack of protections for their partners with DMCA and TOS infractions is going to bite Twitch in the ass once contracts start needing to renew. I could definitely see their top streamers not renewing and moving over to YouTube or even Facebook in a couple of years.

The difference is this is an adult woman doing this to herself. You're out of your mind trying to argue based on this analogy.

So you're saying that anyone wearing a bikini in an "entertainer" capacity is/should be considered porn?
I think the point they are trying to make (not doing well) what they are wearing isn't the issue.

A bikini is fine, what they are doing is softcore porn 100%. It's meant to arouse, get guys horny and pay them for it. Which is on its own is fine, but Twitch isn't the place for it.

Side question. But do Twitch allow people to stream adult games?
Not outright porn games but games with adult content like sex and nudity.

You got it, OF girls are using Twitch the same way some of them use IG.

Age gating it might be the ticket. A buddy of mine subbed to her on Twitch and then he told me he unsubbed soon after because she was spamming out emails to her Twitch subs about her OnlyFans being on sale with a link to it.

Isn't she infamous for wearing clothing that is revealing and thrives off of it? (I could be 100% wrong)
I'll need some context op.
For future reference, if you;re gonna post about a random streamer, some context for who that streamer is how this news affects them would be appreciated.

If you believe sexual content has no place on Twitch (there are good reasons for that), sure, but don't you think they should communicate openly with their her before nuking her ad revenue?

By twitch standards? no.

Action was needed way before today. This is just panic mode.

1. Twitch is totally within their rights to try and avoid turning their platform into some weird OnlyFans-type skin site
2. They should have 100% given the streamer the heads up on this and they should 100% make this clear in ToS instead of continuing to be incredibly vague on what they consider Twitch to be used for and not be used for.
