1. Twitch is totally within their rights to try and avoid turning their platform into some weird OnlyFans-type skin site
2. They should have 100% given the streamer the heads up on this and they should 100% make this clear in ToS instead of continuing to be incredibly vague on what they consider Twitch to be used for and not be used for.

Yep, this is pretty much my stance. I find the advent of streamers on Twitch whose channels are basically softcore OnlyFans to be kinda vaguely pathetic in a way that has nothing to do with the usual puritanical bullshit, but that in no way makes it okay for Twitch to be so capricious in how they treat their business associates - which is ultimately what these people are.

If you want your site to be some family-friendly or gamer-only environment, then spell that out and enforce it universally. But this shit where they occasionally pick out people who get the most attention or put the most heat on them, is not remotely fair. It wasn't fair when they reportedly banned DrD without telling him why (regardless of whether he's a shitheel), and it's not fair here.

That poster's pronouns are "she/her" and you referred to her as a "creepy dude."
Dude is a gender neutral term, to start with, and thus "creepy dude" is a perfectly accurate description of someone who is so weirdly obsessed with child pornography, whether they're male or female.

This sucks because there are artists and cosplayers and other craft hobbyists that stream on twitch under the Just Chatting category.
Yep. It's a rough issue. I don't think it's possible to create legit rules to ban people like Amouranth and not hurt other creators. They basically have to rely on "Advertiser's don't like it".

They aren't handling it well but I wouldn't want to try and be in their spot either

Why not, you know, run ads of beer commercials and Carls Jr on her channel? You know, advertisers who don't give a shit.

It's skirting Twitches TOS. It's very obviously sexually suggestive content. They just aren't closing the loop hole. They are really bad at creating good rules and enforcing it. So people abuse them, they don't know how to stop them and then do shit like this

As I read on reddit, the TOS being stretched was essentially the equivalent of someone being told "Do not touch anyone" but then having their finger right in front of their face and saying "I'm not touching you!" Twitch allowed it until the money was threatened.

Regardless how you feel about her or what she does this is to just show once again how shit twitch is with communication and how they treat their content creators, and the more successful/well known ones, to boot. They're allowed to get away with this crap because they basically hold a monopoly with their site so they can basically do whatever they want. I mean, she could go to a certain other streaming site but twitch is where you will get the highest visibility and view counts.

There are more revealing and sexually explicit hot tub streamers on twitch, if you look around Just Chatting at night it's VERY prevalent. If they do this to Amouranth they need to do it to everyone who is hot tub streaming... or better yet Twitch takes a stance and becomes more clear in their TOS.

(I only peripherally know who Amouranth is as I watch QTCinderella daily and she is friends with her even though she is staunchly against the Hot Tub streams because it brings "coomers" into her chat because she is along side them in Just Chatting)

Was she the one that abused her cat/dog and got away with it?
I might be thinking about a different twitch streamer beginning with A.

I feel they can't figure out how to word it to get rid of it and not accidentally screw over others so their plan is to go after the too and hopefully it scares the others.

I don't really have an issue with the content or the decision but how hard is it to have simple communication. Seems like Twitch is too concerned with how taking a stance will be used against them that they just refuse to have one.

The age-old tech conundrum: are you a platform, as in a tool people can use, or are you a content producer, with an editorial line? If you try to do both at the same time, there will always be tensions. Twitch probably wouldn't care if she were the only one, because it's not against the rules of the platform, but when it becomes a trend then it challenges their editorial line of being a gaming platform, and not porn.

We'll then, I can see why she's popular. If that's allowed though they should fix this and regardless at a minimum pay her for the ads shown before they notified her of removal.

Twitch TOS has already banned this shit, but because it is an adult its allowed?

When has Twitch TOS banned hot tub streamers?

TOS says you can wear bathing suits if you're in an environment where that type of clothing would be suitable. The current meta to light a fire under Twitch's fence-sitting ass is what you see. Inflatable kiddie pools with little water as a "hot tub" where bathing suits are appropriate.

Their reasoning is that the bathing suits and revealing clothing are okay as long as it's not sexualized. Bathing suits are inherently not sexual. A streamer who was wearing a bathing suit and in a hot tub was actually banned once but that was because they were dancing sexually and twerking.

Eh, hot tub meta is just softcore porn. Let's not kid ourselves.
Totally agree, but the question is - should twitch allow that on their site? If yes, should it have its own category? If no, how are they going to sensitively incorporate that into their TOS? They already say no sexually explicit content in their TOS but staff members of twitch claim the company doesn't see the hot tub meta in general as sexually explicit and that if you don't want to see it, you can just click the "3 dots" next to a streamers preview in the category and hide them.

lmao now there are two off-the-rails bonkers arguments in this thread! and none of them are actually the main topic of this thread!

ot: had no idea who she was. Twitch shouldn't take away her ad revenue the way they did, I mean she has a huge following so why couldn't they contact her and at least have a conversation about her content and future steps they'll take on her account?

Can OP add the definition of softcore pornography to their post? Because it seems nobody has a clear understanding of what porn actually is.

Bikinis are not softcore. How can you consider it porn with no nudity? If anything, it's mature content. That's it. Not even 18+.

Twitch allowed this for how long now?

At the very least, there 1000000000% should have been communication BEFORE they stopped ads on her channel. At the LEAST

She was skirting the rules but they didn't say anything about it - though she herself admitted a month ago she was probably hurting ad revenue

You're 100% correct, just chiming in to say that as someone who has read all the TOS on Twitch, this is correct. It also states that content can not be sexually explicit and I would say that's a very opinionated statement because some people don't see the hot tub meta as sexually suggestive or explicit - but there are lots who do.

I for one cannot believe this forum has descended into an argument over what constitutes 'porn' instead of addressing the actual issue of a major online streaming platform being vague about the enforcement of it's content policy toward it's users. Just absolutely shocking.

who'd of thunk adverts don't like porn?

Literal Child Porn was legal in Japan until like 2018 because "Its not porn its just a 12yr old girl in a bikini shaking her ass in a pool!!!!"
I get what you are going for. But it is ridiculous to compare the seriousness of Japans disgusting stance on child pornography definitions and Twitch being unable to define what constitutes sexually explicit material on their platform.

I personally feel like the "hot tub meta" thing shouldn't be on Twitch, but they should be upfront about their rules about such things rather than being wholly inconsistent.
