Caught an article earlier on where it looks like the tories are planning to basically throw everyone off UC and PIP. Not really sure what outcome that'll have for me and my wife but starve within a month.
I would really appreciate a link to this if you have it please. I'd like to think the people I work with would be safe from this, but it would be just like the tories to kick the most vulnerable in society in the teeth on their way out.

Sure, I apologise in advance if any of the links are from trash sources, I try to avoid our media as it's too depressing lol. Here's a bit about the PIP plan

www.theguardian.com

Sunak accused of launching ‘full-on assault on disabled people’

PM criticised for personal independence payment review amid ‘spiralling’ disability welfare bill

The part about UC was mentioned in the same speech but I think this might hopefully cover that a bit better

Tory plans: PIP no longer always cash, WCA harder to pass, UC migration sooner, no GP sick notes, DWP power to arrest and fine

Get the benefits you're entitled to: help with personal independence payment (PIP), universal credit (UC), employment and support allowance (ESA),disability living allowance (DLA). Claims, assessments, reviews, appeals.

There's a lovely part in there about giving DWP power to arrest that I'd missed too. I apologise if they're not comprehensive, I only had the time to skim and didn't want to link the article I'd found it mentioned in at first tbh as the article was filled with racist comments underneath.

The actual speech is on Gov.uk too if needed, but I'd not recommend anyone subject themselves to Rishi waffling on for that long

This is plenty, thank you. I'd heard about him wanting to strip GP's of being able to sign people off but I thought they were planning something even more drastic before the election.

Reads like a tory fever dream, let's hope it just stays that way.

Yeah I'm putting a lot of hope into being able to dodge this via the election. In all honesty were it to go into effect it would be catastrophic for my family. My uncle and cousin would be destitute, my parents the same. Both of which are having to provide frequent sick notes despite being retired and receiving pension. My wife and I would be bankrupt almost immediately and I have a friend who would be in the same situation.

There's supposed to be about 400k people unfit for work that they'd happily throw to the wolves were this to come into effect. The bill they'd rack up from the crisis caused would likely be far more than the cost of UC and PIP to them anyway so hopefully it's bluster that won't go any further. I can't imagine the extra heat would really help their election chances anyway so it seems incredibly dumb from all angles.

God this has been the least enthusiastic I've been about an upcoming election.

- Tories are scum
- Starmer's Labour essentially agreeing with most of Tory policies especially when it comes to intersectional minorities such as Transgender people, I'm surprised they're not agreeing with Tories' stance on the Disabled.
- England doesn't seem to realise that if Scotland can oust both Tories and Labour with the SNP then we could do the same with a party such as the Greens, but it just doesn't happen due to the social conditioning the English go through.

Like 95% of parliament needs to be ousted and replaced with people with at least half a brain and a heart. Just feeling absolutely fucked either way, and folk who aren't in the cross hairs of a culture war just don't understand how terrifying it all is. 😞

I'm just depressed and terrified that Labour are just going to continue with this culture war after the election due to Labour's cabinet being equally transphobic and Zionist as the Tory cabinet. Like I don't want to die but I'm terrified where my mental health will be in another 5 years and if I'll survive either government.

Having trouble deciding between these two BBQs. There's also probably others in that price range that would be good but honestly it's a minefield.

My main concern is long term reliability and cleanliness. I don't want to buy another BBQ within the next few years.

It seems like the Weber would be easier to keep clean, but I'm not sure if the egg would be better for long term weather resistance. I'd also need to buy a cover for the Weber but the egg comes with one so the price gets closer that way.

What do you guys think?

Edit: Found the Weber for like £100 cheaper so I'll just go that.

My guesses:

Celeste
Lemmings
The correct answer

It probably looks nowt like Celeste. The pink and blue just activated something.

almost literally me. I felt the first one was an Amiga game but could have been almost anything - intiially thought maybe Zool or one of many poor platformers. Then lemmings then correct.

Not to mention we aren't built for the kind of summer where you can fry an egg on the pavement, like we've had the past couple of years.
During my childhood I remember one particular summer that was super hot and my mother said "you could fry an egg on the pavement" so I asked her to demonstrate.

The neighbour's dog then ran over and ate the egg. It later threw up.

Childhood was a magical time.

It's a normal temperature for April. The average last year was 8.6C.

Is that the 24 hour average that includes night times?

Anyway this thread has been far too serious lately so here's a video that has me struggling to breathe on the regular

I don't understand what's funny at all in either clip? I know that may sound grumpy but I'm just perplexed. There's always a little bit of humour in someone on camera laughing uncontrollably, but nothing that's happening is funny?

I'm worried I may be missing a soul or something.

I fell like I had less context AFTER I watched the clip. The comments from the dog had zero context and were made up? which again means the original clip doesn't seem very funny at all?

I'm sorry

If you can't find the humour in a children's TV presenter struggling to not corpse on live broadcasts because of what a dog puppet said, I can't help you.

Back again with another pc build question mostly for Uzzy I guess though others please feel free to have some input.

For some context, I'm mostly playing WoW and looking to get a good 3 years out of this build before I need to upgrade any parts. Currently 1080p/60 but would like to invest in an ultrawide screen with higher refresh rate at some point in the next 12 months.

I'm going for the ryzen 7 7800x3d cpu as it's ideal for wow and will give me a good 5-6 years at least along with 32GB of ddr-5 @6000mhz low latency RAM
That means however, my gpu budget is limited to under £300. My options are a new 4060 8GB, a new 3060 12GB, or a preowned 3070 8GB or a preowned 6700XT 12 GB ( though I'm not as keen on an AMD card).

My question really I guess is raw power vs vram vs framegen if I decide to play some games that support dlss 3. Which is going to be better bearing in mind the screen upgrade coming down the line?
