This might be a bit off topic but: Has anyone else noticed the more lefty-side become more aggressive over the past couple years? I feel like only in 2016 most people on the left side were more nicer/easy to push around. Come to 2020 I started to notice more of my online friends become more left and result more blunt and aggressive. And I'm not complaining about this! One of my criticisms with the left was how soft some became but it's nice to see people openly insult and belittle neo-nazis or conservatives when they spout their dumbshit. I think it's great to see people fight back instead of going high when they go low.

Democrats in general are more polarized now than before. I think the old meme that Democrats fall in love, Republicans fall in line is backwards-thinking. That polarization leads to much clearer lines between tribes, so it might come off as aggressive in interactions. But Dems are still all about a multiculture, inclusive social democracy that gives voice to everyone, including white rural types that don't vote for them.

This is the contrast with the GOP that specifically wants to set up stable minority rule so they don't have to appeal to more people to stay in power.

Damn, that made me tear up. He is a good man. This is so needed right now.

He is.

That needs to be the pivot point for Biden this Thursday, when Trump undoubtedly tries to tie this BS Hunter story to Joe.

'Those pictures that you released of my son are disgusting. I have stood by him during his struggle with drug addiction and on behalf of every mom or dad in this country that ha been there for their children in their time of need, I am appalled that you are using it for political advantage'. Something to that effect.

Spending the final debate less than two weeks before the election talking about Trump's stupid kids is a waste of time.
it plays into trump's argument. trump wants to make it an argument about hunter biden and joe biden doing a whataboutism now gives that more weight. cue pundits talking about is hunter really better than ivanka/eric? etc.

and it's a distraction. it's really obvious too. biden can pivot away saying there's nothing true at all to this made-up story and that it's the thing americans are sick and tired of hearing about from the trump campaign. what they want is to hear about what the president is going to do about the pandemic and unemployment. honestly, it's a pretty easy layup.
Yes waste energy on useless petty shit not as if we don't have enough of that already.

I didn't say make them the centerpiece of his debate strategy, nor did I say to make them a key part of his rebuttal to the Hunter Biden issue. But making a weird pledge like this sets him up for a distracting gotcha moment if they come up at any point in the course of the debate. Trump's grifting family is a clear example of the corruption of his administration, and Biden should be free to address them if it strengthens a given argument.

Rudy seems to have learned his lesson, is tightening protocols, checking ID's, and is now being taken in by someone claiming to be Ivanka Trump but who is in fact the vice president of the College Democrats of Indiana

I feel like I have said this for the past month in a half but the GOP are nothing but idiots.

They somehow managed to self-own themself's, not once, but multiple times a day.

I'm really wondering how WA-03 turns out. This is a chaotic, divided district with a large suburb of Portland centering it and tons of exurban and rural areas that vote even stranger than rural Western WA normally votes. Dems didn't lose it by all that much in 2018, and the GOP has no real presence at the top of the ticket for the state-Climate Daddy's challenger is a complete joke, the Lt. Gov. GOP candidate isn't on the ballot because they landed 3rd in the jungle primary. There isn't a lot of super toxic tax shit on the ballot, etc.

Polarized western WA republicans are some of the most aggressive and aggrieved Republicans in the country, but there just isn't a lot of them. I'm not sure that even in that district they will have enough to win, and I don't see anyone voting Inslee+Huerra-Butler

Full scene description for the Giuliani bit, it's absolute chaos:

just want to note that at no point in time do we see rudy's hog. the closest thing to "porn" in the clip is borat in a g-string under seethru boxer briefs, so make of that what you will but the "revenge porn" argument is insane lol

All of this is just clownshoes.

NEW: Many of Pres. Trump's allies on Wall Street have abandoned his bid for reelection. The finance execs who backed his 2016 campaign and inaugural have gone silent in their contributions in the final two weeks of the election.

How can MJ be that far behind? Biden you gotta pull these senate candidates over the line, man!

Other than yard signs I haven't seen a fucking thing from MJ and I live in the hardest-left zip code in the state. Not mailers, not shit. Wendy Davis is hitting the airwaves much much harder and putting in work for Congress.

MJ feels like a throwback to 10 years ago when the Dems picked some random mayor or something who showed up to a debate one time and then fucked off otherwise. To take Texas you need a transformative candidate like Beto to put in work. And you probably also need the opponent to be someone horrible and gross like Cruz.

Cornyn is a pretty milquetoast Republican shitheel so he is less offensive than Trump or Cruz to moderate voters. And also, MJ aint doin shit.

Why was Beto not in the ticket?

Because he didn't want to run. Because his political career, for better or worse, would be over if he lost two straight Senate campaigns and a presidential primary.

I expect him to run for Governor in 2022

Edit: The better question is how there is only one good Democratic candidate in the second largest state in the country.

Browsing twitter, seems the defense Trumpists are taking re: Rudy is that the photos technically constitute revenge porn and should be taken down per Twitter guidelines? Gold medal for mental gymnastics imo

538 forecast went from 88 back to 87, horse race confirmed. Just kidding, I'm going to be good now and not get (thread)banned again.

It would be really funny if a Borat movie wound up having a bigger effect on the election than Giuliani's whole ginned up laptop story.

Beto wouldn't stand a chance this year, after his gun comments. He's more useful for mobilizing dems than winning a plurality.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has received final payment from accident lawsuit

The gubernatorial candidate released his 1986 lawsuit settlement over the accident.

Abbott has disputed criticism that such a settlement could not be achieved today because of legislation he helped champion 10 years ago that imposed limits on lawsuit awards.

He argues that anyone in similar circumstances could reach the same type of settlement today.

Under the recent law, punitive damages — meant to punish gross negligence or bad faith — have been capped at $750,000

Who would have guessed the Trump campaign's October surprise was just them turning up their stupidity to 11? I for one and certainly surprised with the news this week. I am surprised they are actually more stupid than I thought they were, which is saying a lot. So guess you could say in the words of Borat their October surprise was a "great success".

Edit: The better question is how there is only one good Democratic candidate in the second largest state in the country.

Wendy Davis tried really hard and was an ok candidate?

We also have both Castro brothers. If Cecil had gone into politics and not Planned Parenthood she would have been a fucking star, but I'm glad she is where she is.

I mean, Texas was filled with amazing Dem candidates 30 years ago when the state had a democratic party. Being a D was a liability outside of a few large metros and being liberal was a career killer outside of Austin until recently. I mean, you really have to go back to Molly Ivins and the 80s/90s when there was a large concentration of quality candidates.
