Can you even run it without DirectStorage? It's baked into Win10 and Win11.
rip to checking your phone when the loading screen shows upDamn. I won't even have time to stare out the window anymore with tech like this.
What do you mean by that on consoles? If only games on PC allowed for the same Boot Flow skip flags used on Consoles so we didn't have to brute-force remove those Splash Screens to make proper use of fast load times
Continuing a game on PS5 is .31s from the DF vid. Wonder if anyone can time how fast PC does it from this gif.
Fast travel is instant on my 2015 sata ssd too lmao.I upgraded from a regular SATA SSD and Windows 10 which I thought was already pretty fast to a 7GB/s NVMe drive and Windows 11 and the boot times are ridiculous. Happy to see the first DirectStorage game is no joke.
it even works on cpus i think (please lmk if this is wrong) but its just a bit slower. Is direct storage available on rtx 2000 series cards, or is it restricted to later cards?

I posted a feature request on Steam forum to have a "Continue from last save" button which would basically do this. I got cooked. What a terrible forum. šIf only games on PC allowed for the same Boot Flow skip flags used on Consoles so we didn't have to brute-force remove those Splash Screens to make proper use of fast load times
Only for some games, I hate when games don't skip all splash logos when using Activity Cards. Like that's the entire point! Sony should require it.On PS5, if you select the Activity Card to Launch your game, it will Skip all the Splash Logos

Of course. The drive must support it. Old Windows 10 versions or NVMe drives with 3rd party drivers don't. I can easily disable DS on my 960Pro by installing Samsung NVMe driver for example. Can you even run it without DirectStorage? It's baked into Win10 and Win11.

I always forget about those damn activity cards. Thanks! On PS5, if you select the Activity Card to Launch your game, it will Skip all the Splash Logos and boot you directly to the Main Menu or the gameplay (depending which Card you selected)
Sometimes there are steam launch arguments to skip those. Would be nice to be able to jump in from launch in 3 secondsRuined by unskippable logos though, taking 2min first time and 30s after that.
Even removing videos don't work, it will make you watch blank screen instead.
You can skip the logo with right mouse button or I think B on the gamepad.Ruined by unskippable logos though, taking 2min first time and 30s after that.

The source of this gif confirmed in the PC performance thread that it's loading off of a Gen3 3,400MB/s drive. It should be, right? Given a high end PCIe 4.0 drive is faster than either console.
Sony introduced system software support for skipping boot flow screens after the first boot, so most games skip unnecessary splash screens on subsequent boots on Consoles but keep them on PC

Funny enough games now have options if you want those loading menu tips or not. š¤£Unless there are button presses to continue how am I going to get my loading screen tips now!?

It's pretty good, but also games on PC boot up pretty fast nowadays even without this, I just tested Spiderman from an NVMe and it took around 2-3 seconds after pressing continue:
Of course it's cool that this technology makes it instant.
The dream is being realized. Even if there is a bit of loading to make room for tips it improves quick travel loading within open world games by a toooooon.Wow, nice. With gen 4/5 and directstorage we'll never have loading times again!
Only games I've seen this on are Sony's first party games like Miles Morales and I think FF VIIR?Sony introduced system software support for skipping boot flow screens after the first boot, so most games skip unnecessary splash screens on subsequent boots on Consoles but keep them on PC
