hersheyfan Right on, I guess I meant Skirmish mode and map editor. I love the tinker and inventor design behind the Heavensong!
One nice touch in the game is that dogs don't die, they just turn around and run away!
Ace OT!
Any news if there will be a GOG or other DRM free release? Thinking of getting this for my father (last game he got into was Advanced Wars on the GBA) so not having any account setup required would be perfect.
Didn't see it in the OP, but afaik the game will have mod support on PC.
Yeah, it's really unique. Ancient technology mixed with Asian influences, the soundtrack for the Heavensong CO's have a really Japanese sound. I'm also big on Tenri's Groove: being able to transport units long distance is just begging for some creative abuse. =Dhersheyfan Right on, I guess I meant Skirmish mode and map editor. Yup! Chucklefish clearly love dogs, which I respect. One nice touch in the game is that dogs don't die, they just turn around and run away!
I never pre-order games, but it's Advance Wars with a commander dog wearing armor. I'm willing to throw $20 at the idea sight unseen; the execution is a nice bonus.
Thanks! Sadly, no DRM free release announced as of the moment, the official page specifically says Steam... heres hoping they get around to it soon!

I'll add that detail in, thanks for reminding me! =)

I'm hoping for a total conversion Advance Wars mod. You know it's coming. The only thing is missing (or I haven't read about it yet) is General traits. In Advance wars each General have an specialization. One was good with close encounters, other wit air units, other with expensive units... it really changes how you play.
Thanks for providing me with the link! I added it to the top of the page, cheers! Thanks! From 2017: https://www.pcgamer.com/were-making...bitious-branching-narratives-and-mod-support/
I hope it is still true, couldn't find anything on the steam page tho.
As I understand, they wanted to differentiate the COs using their CO powers ("Grooves") this time out without giving them drastic specializations, in order to make the game more balanced. Like, if a certain bunch of COs were dominant on sea-based maps, youd basically be forced to pick them or you'd subject yourself to a massive handicap. The only thing is missing (or I haven't read about it yet) is General traits. I noticed that the other night. So charming. One nice touch in the game is that dogs don't die, they just turn around and run away!
Groove: Inspire, which allows all adjacent units to act again this turn.
amazing OT
also I don't know how I never knew this but this is a chucklefish game?? that's fucking amazing! this whole time I was just jazzed for a really good looking advance wars style game and now I'm even more jazzed
Killer CO power/groove, no doubt. But it also pushes you to move your units in packs to maximize the effect, which in turn can apparently be exploited by other COs.
Wargroove developer (and longtime lurker) here - great OT hersheyfan! I'm really eager for Wargroove to finally release and it's super cool knowing that everyone here is excited too!
I hope everyone likes it!
Does florans here mean this game is implied to be in the same universe as Starbound?Wargroove developer (and longtime lurker) here - great OT hersheyfan! I'm really eager for Wargroove to finally release and it's super cool knowing that everyone here is excited too!

Mouse or portability, mouse or portability, mouse or... Wait, does the Switch version have touchscreen controls?
No touchscreen support at the moment, apparently. It may have been tricky working out touchscreen interface that works consistently given the type of game this is... hopefully they work it out!Mouse or portability, mouse or portability, mouse or... You are going to double dip, aren't you ?Mouse or portability, mouse or portability, mouse or... Wait, does the Switch version have touchscreen controls?
Of course. I just decided before I came back to the thread lol. Cross-progression makes it an easy decision!
So pumped for Friday! This game looks like an amazing start for what might be the best year in strategy games ever. Wargroove alongside the likes of FE 3 Houses, Total War 3 Kingdoms, Imperator Rome, Phoenix Point (from one of the original XCOM creator) and others is making 2019 look pretty special for the genre.
But still, Wargroove looks superb and seems like a great purchase by having loads of content for only 20 bucks.
Mmmmm... cherrystones. =9I just want to know if we can eat cherrystones.
That shit looks delicious.
The Advance Wars style leans more towards the pure turn-based strategy side of things, Fire Emblem leans more towards the SRPG hybrid style with level ups and what not. Give it a chance!I'm really sorry if this has already been said, but as a fan of Fire Emblem (mostly Fates) and having never played Advance Wars, will this game appeal to me and is it fundamentally different from FE? I've been really excited by everything I've seen but I don't want it to not live up to my preconceived notions.
