Twitter has been amazingly successful in de-mystifying celebrity and - I suppose - also humanizing a group of people that often get treated as an unreachable (and desirable) "other".
It makes me think of "the death of the movie star", which basically argues that much of the power of celebrity lies in being present enough to be know, but inaccessible, and fundamentally alien, in order to maintain an odd sort of social power through assumed excellence.
For all that is tedious about Twitter, this is probably one of its richest gifts.
As for the OP, I advice you to turn off your computer, get a bottle wine and a good sandwich, and walk towards the nearest picturesque spot in your town/vicinity.
This is my stand-by strategy, and has yet to fail me. I haven't read every post in this thread, but feel pretty sure that none of this will matter - for anyone involved - in two days.
