Very few video games breach the 95 mark on Metacritic; fewer manage to reach the vaunted 97. Only five have managed it in the last ten or so years. They're among the most beloved, most acclaimed games of all time, and fixtures in most "best games of all time" lists. But which one does Era prefer the most, and why?

Its kind of weird cause I dont have a special fondness for any of these games. I guess I like Odyssey the most of the 5

RDR 2 is probably the most divisive game of all time on this forum. It's either a masterpiece or pure shit so not that one

Haven't played BotW or RDR2 yet but Odyssey is it for me, I cant appreciate Galaxy for what it is and GTAV was a step back for me

I'm still upset that I never got to play Galaxy 2. Galaxy 1 is my second favorite Mario game of all time and one of the few 3D games that I feel plays exactly like what I'd imagine its 2D variants would play like in 3D - it perfectly captures the spirit of Mario Bros. 3 and Super Mario World, imho.

Mario Odyssey followed closely by BOTW. Amazing rebound after the stinkers that were Skyward Sword and 3D World.

Red Dead Redemption 2 really shouldn't be that high considering it plays much worse than both GTAV and the first Red Dead Redemption.

Choosing between BotW and Galaxy 2 is like choosing my favorite Kidney. I'll say Galaxy 2 because I have a feeling BotW won't need my help anyway.

Personally, I think I like Odyssey best out of those - it's just incredibly fun, incredibly cohesive, the moment-to-moment gameplay is simply fantastic.

But there's something special about BOTW that makes it stick firmly in my memory.

I didn't played Galaxy,but the others I rank this way.
  1. Grand Theft Auto V (9.5)
  2. Red Dead Redemption 2 (8.5)
  3. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (8.5)
  4. Super Mario Odyssey (7.5)
All good games,but a little bit overrated for me.

Can I say none? Because I don't particularly enjoy any of these. Red Dead 2 was a visual spectacle, but that's all it was for me. Combat was dreadful and I had to put the game down because of it and never got around to finishing it.

As a lapsed Nintendo fan, botw shows, to me, the essence of what a game is so yeah...that one. Even if nintendo never makes another game I love like it again, still, bravo.

I imagine Odyssey isn't going to do great since anyone that loves it for the open world would pick BOTW which does that better and anyone who loves it for the platforming is going to pick Galaxy 2 which does that better.

Odyssey is an incredible game and would likely be my #2 of this list, but it's in rough company.

Damn, it's been 11 years since GTAIV already and we haven't had another 98 since.

Out of these, I'd say Galaxy 2 followed by BotW. I haven't played Odyssey yet though.

Red Dead 2 with Mario Galaxy 2 so millimetrically close behind it might've been that as well.

BOTW. It's my favorite Zelda game and one of my favorite games in general.

Of the games I've played from those five:

BOTW > SMO > SMG2

I'm legitimately surprised Galaxy 2 is beating Odyssey. I played it for a bit but I enjoyed Odyssey more

Far and away SMG2.

BotW and Odyssey are both among the weaker entries in their series (especially damning for BotW, since you just know that they'll never go back to how the series was now :/), RDR2...well, it's been rightly picked apart already, and GTAV just doesn't control right to me.

I'd give the nod to Galaxy 2 for being much less flawed than BotW. I think both deserve their scores, though.

GTAV and Odyssey are good, but mild disappointments in my eyes, while RDR2 is easily one of my most disappointing games ever.

I haven't played RDR 2 but personally BOTW is my favorite our of those, although not my favorite game in this period of time.
