Honestly the idea of generations is on the way out. The internet gives everyone access to every old TV show and song and movie, and the memes, and remakes of these things. My wife is a teacher and I've done some substituting, and man it still seems like Spongebob.
Rick and Morty is a good one. Then again I think it's more of an all ages show and hit just as well with people in 20s, 30s + as with teenagers, so it's not Gen Z's show alone. But then again, that's probably true with The Simpsons and its generation too.
I think that's a very good one, because older millennials and younger millennials alike surely had South Park relevant in their teenage life, whether it was 1997 or 2007.Spongebob came out when I was like 16, either you're wrong or it's confirmed that I don't belong in the millennial category like I've saying this whole time.
For Millennials I'd say South Park is a better choice.
For Gen Z, fuck if I know. Spongebob is better pick for Gen Z than Millennial imo. But really, do they even have one? They just watch YouTube these days instead of TV.
Easily this.
My generations defining cartoon has been chosen and it's... Spongebob?
Lol. Did not see that coming. Never saw an episode.

96 was the cutoff point for millenials so the cartoons my brother and I were watching a lot were Spongebob, KND, Billy & Mandy, Fairly Off Parents, and Ed Edd'n Eddy. He and I were born in 95/96 and the stuff we watched was fairly different to those who were born in the 80's.The Simpsons IS defining for Millennials, 80s/90s kids grew up with that for sure.
Spongebob is actually for both Millennials and Gen Z as it came out in 1999.
I'm Gen Z - it's Spongebob. You darn millennials need to get your hands off our show.
Fairly Odd Parents is up there though
what, you didn't stick around for ALL GROWN UPI'm a millenial but watching Nick went out of fashion before Spongebob dropped.
Rugrats was dead to me when that movie dropped and Tommy got that lame little brother.
