I can't agree with that. It was a pleasant surprise though.
I've a feeling the requirements for the different artists was to sexualize their blade designs. I mean look at that.
Apparently, they just gave them the weapon plus element, then let them loose.
Of course, they also chose artists with a habit for drawing that sort of thing, so...
People could be less disingenuous and dismissive for a change.I've said this before, but you could try to be less aggressive for a change.
A2 isn't fighting in panties, or a bikini, for that matter. Besides residual skirt bits from her former uniform, she's "naked" with her artificial skin layer peeling off from lack of maintenance and spare parts, neither of which a rogue unit on the run receives anymore.
Not the only "naked" fighter, either. Adam only starts dressing to mimic human culture, while both Adam & Eve start without clothing or armour and Eve puts on trousers at most.
People could be less disingenuous and dismissive for a change.
I didn't say it was the only way to design A2, or that you can't criticise it. Just clarifying what was apparently missed by the posters before me.Nah, they had their cake and ate it too. There's a bunch of ways they could've illustrated that she has had a lack of maintenance. Instead they chose the way where her skin peeled off in just the right places, purposely making her look very appealing despite being unkempt. I like the reasoning that she's a fugitive, that she doesn't give a fuck about her appearance. But they could've gone about it a better way nonetheless.
This isn't a new counterpoint as far as this thread is concerned, nor does it mean one can't criticize A2's design.
I'm pretty sure psychowave's attitude would have earned anyone else a warning at least.
Really not sure how backseat modding helps. Talk to a mod if you're bothered, implying some sort of inate bias is pretty poor form considering that the ResetEra mods are relentlessly even-handed with regard to enforcing TOS as far as I've seen.I'm pretty sure psychowave's attitude would have earned anyone else a warning at least.
I can't fathom how you fail to see how that hurts the discussion.
But that's how it works. I'm not gonna change my tone just because you don't like it. If you don't wanna contact the mods or if mods don't think it's an issue, I'll keep expressing my thoughts the way I want, and you'll have to deal with it or put me on ignore.
I've said this before, but you could try to be less aggressive for a change.
I wasn't saying she was wearing a bikini or panties in my post about her. I know about the battle damage I was commenting on why she hasn't repaired it.I didn't say it was the only way to design A2, or that you can't criticise it. Just clarifying what was apparently missed by the posters before me.

People in this thread have to deal with 10x worse on a daily basis.
I'm calling out an abrassive attitude that i think it needs to be called out Because it actually hurts the conversation and the user needs to show some restraint.
However, i'm done with it, i just think that this is something that would blow up in this thread's face sooner or later, and i don't think anyone here is looking for that to happen.
That doesn't justify having an awful attitude towards other users. That's all I have to say about that.
It's a design that for all their effort to try to tone it down from previous depictions, still undermines Samus as a badass space Batman who acomplishes things with superior technology and fighting tactics. The boob socks and the high heels would be a detriment in the situations she finds herself in. A skin tight suit to wear underneath that heavy armor isn't inherently bad and actually makes sense, but for it to just so happen to make her more appealing to look at for dudes makes it obvious the devs and/or Nintendo don't really respect their own character enough to give consistency in her entire design. I like the basis of the idea Dagonkeeper had about the wet suit more.
also go play the Zero Suit sections of Zero Mission and come back and tell me how you can do any of that shit with Samus' noodle arms. I can't believe I have to argue this shit, my god.
As i said, i already made contact with the mod team, so i'm done with this.
You're kidding me right? Psychowave and others in this thread have been putting up with the same tired arguments and thinly veiled insults for 100 pages now, a curt reply is hardly aggressive.Or maybe he wasn't being as malicious as you want to see it.
As i'm seeing it in this thread is decided by default that anyone who has a counterpoint or a dissenting opinion is disingenuous or downright malicious, and the replies to that people ranges from dismissive to aggressive. I can't fathom how you fail to see how that hurts the discussion.
I'm pretty sure psychowave's attitude would have earned anyone else a warning at least.
Yes you are trying to argue how a few inches of more muscle would explain jumping 10 meters, which is absurd.
I don't disagree on the fact that the slimmer Samus is there for the male audience, but I do on the fact that she needs to be more muscular to operate the magical (yes magical) power armor.

I love the thought of Samus going "I NEED TO BE SCARIER" and proceeding to put platforms on.Feels like a damned if you do, damned if you don't scenario. Like you said, it actually makes sense in the context of her Varia Suit and I think the wedges serve multiple purposes: Intimidation (boosting her 6'3" height), and her rocket heels if she still has those. Her breasts can be toned down, sure. I'm just glad they made her look athletic and bulky in comparison to her past Barbie-looking designs.

Ive always viewed Samus the same way I view Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Genetically enhanced super strength not reflected in their build.
Wait, so people don't think it's odd that Samus lacks the sort of athletic physique someone in her line of work would realistically have?
(and no, "it's magic so realism doesn't matter!" isn't an answer)

PW's clap backs give me life tbh.

Not anymore odd than I find Spider-Mans little skinny ass being super strong and fast.

Also, isn't it canon that Samus is an enhanced human and that's why she can use the armor at all?
Even besides the point of whether she would "need" to be muscular to operate that power armor, she would "end up" being muscular just doing the motions needed to operate it for hours if not days (running, jumping, backflipping, contorting into a ball). Unless the argument is that the armor is so magical she doesn't even need to do these motions, it's all mind controlled, and her entire body is limp inside the armor, which I'm not sure is the image of Samus a lot of people have.

And yet Peter Parker is depicted as pretty muscular in most of its representations. He may be scrawny compared to most heroes, but most heroes are built like freaking He-Man to begin with. In Peter Jackson's move he literally bulks up as a result of the spider bite.
You know what does a better job of that? Being a 6f 3 renown bounty hunter in a bulky suit with an arm cannon.I see it as more as a "DON'T MESS WITH ME" kind of vibe, myself. Don't forget they make her fly around!
Spider-Man is not buff by men standards he is a skinny dude with some cuts which isn't hard for a skinny dude No men in the fictional marvel universe(Jonah Jameson) nor our real world with the actors that have played Spider-Man looks at them as being buff or musclebound certainly not to the point where they would assume great strength or athleticism.

An in that case, being 6' 3 and a renown bounty hunter. Seriously the heels aren't there for intimidation. We were talking about Samus without her Varia suit. It's a given that that would be infinitely more intimidating.
I'm not up to date with my Metroid lore, but she's basically an unholy mix of human and alien bird DNA... but of course she still looks like a sexy woman :^)
I find it really hard to take this post seriously considering the above images. I repeat, I literally pasted the first that came up on google.

What? No, i'm saying the heels aren't there so she can be more intimidating. Like if they wanted her taller for intimidation that they could have just made her taller. Are you trying to argue that height isn't correlated with intimidation or?
Are you trying to argue that height isn't correlated with intimidation or?
Best comparison I can give you. Only one of these guys is considered buff or strong
Is "she's wearing heels to intimidate the enemy" the new "she breathes through her skin"?
Like if they wanted her taller for intimidation that they could have just made her taller.
