My summary, how I understand it:

A few weeks ago a 21 year old male model that's attending college in New York called out James Charles over his behavior. The model Gage Gomez claimed to be straight/bicurious, James Charles got him coachella tickets and first class airplane tickets, at Coachella they kissed but Gage didn't want to do more. James got very upset, and tried to pressure him. Afterwards James tried to pin everything on Gage for leading him on. Gage made a youtube video to try and clear his name, but not much came of it because overall some people thought Gage was shady for going on a date with James to Coachella in the first place.



A few weeks later.
Tati who's in her 30s, and also a fellow YouTube Beauty Guru, seemed to think of herself as and elder role model to 19 year old James and helped jump start his YouTube career. On May 10th Tati released a 43min callout video about James' behavior, that video seems to be the cause of his subscriber loss and increased attention, where as Gage Gomez's video from a few weeks ago had almost no effect.

Absolutely not on the same scale of these allegations of course, but I've never had a good impression of this guy in the first place as he's always seemed a huge egotist

This dude was just on ABC and now he as this coming out. Can't say the timing is all that fortuitous since he has some semblance of attention from people like me now who didn't know who he was before hand.

Which is good; the more of these types of assholes we can get rid of, the better.

It's a shame that he's already set for life because there's zero vetting of these explosively popular social media "influencers" and "personalities" who make more in a couple of years than many journalists & TV personalities will in a lifetime. I'm not putting all in the same basket; I'm pretty sure the majority are just fine as people.

Still..Such a young medium and already so many exposed as deeply unsavoury - can you imagine what the scoreboard would be like if this was as old as TV / Hollywood?!

So basically Tati didn't have shit to say when her buddy Jeffree Star was out here saying "n*gger this n*gger that" but now she's in her feelings and doing an exposé because James Charles was caught shilling her competitors PLACEBO vitamins instead of her PLACEBO vitamins. Tati just feels an extra level of betrayal because she's been trying and failing for years to get pregnant and so obviously sees (saw) JC as a surrogate son. Beauty Youtube is nuts. Ran across a beauty/lifestyle channel a month or so ago that only had a few videos posted over the past year but has 7 million subscribers. I was like 'How?!' Beauty Youtube is something nobody talks about but is probably as big if not bigger than Gaming Youtube.

I'm not at all clued up in the YouTube stuff but, these public floggings I keep seeing seem really awful. The guy might be an utter asshole for all I know but this is the sort of thing that could lead to suicide. Also most of the gay guys I know have had a thing for straight guys so I don't see it as that controversial...

Yet another example of when trying to be woke on this site goes wrong.

James Charles harassing straight men and manipulating them into doing sexual activities with him is controversial and objectively wrong. He deserves to be named and shamed. Homosexuals having internalized homophobia and being solely attracted to heterosexual identified people is also DISTURBING and needs to be addressed.

No, I don't agree that this is not controversial, just because it could be a common fantasy. It's fine to have whatever fantasy you want, and porn certainly has all the categories anyone can imagine. The problem is when that crosses over to real life.

When straight men try to turn lesbians in real life, they shouldn't be given a pass just because it could be a common fantasy.

The same standard should apply to gay men that try to turn straight men in real life, no matter how common a fantasy it could be.

He's not entirely wrong - albeit incredibly rude.

Tati basically treated this guy like a son. It was a very much a mother and son relationship.

Her and her husband helped him with agents, helped him better monetize his videos, helped him navigate the sharks in the industry, got him beauty deals worth millions of dollars, and were also just there for him personally.

That's why his endorsement of a rival business was so controversial. Despite being a very cutthroat and commercial industry it was seen as stepping over a moral line. Alongside this, it appears she was also having personal issues with him over his increasingly diva-like behaviour and treatment of others - especially his attempts to entice sexually confused people into bed with him.

Don't get me wrong. Manipulating people isn't acceptable in any form but being attracted to straight men isn't wrong. It's another fetish in my opinion. When it is wrong is when that attraction goes into the realms of what I've experienced when I've been groped by gay men and worst of all, nearly gay raped when a guy had me in his car trying to do stuff whilst I was black out drunk. Anyway, my main point was more the public shaming angle. I don't care for the guy but I do worry when hundreds of thousands pile on that at some point it wouldn't surprise me if the person ends up killing themselves.
