This is the funniest thing. Laughed out loud when reading it, thanks!
This is incredible. While surfing the Steam Community I noticed a Japanese player ran into this amusing graphical glitch with Hummel.

so yeah, if your character is dead while you land the final blow to the boss, that character doesnt get XP.
this is the dumbest system i can remember in past 5 years

Wasn't it like that for every party Ys? I remember having to redo fights in Celceta to not have a dead char a whole level behind the others.so yeah, if your character is dead while you land the final blow to the boss, that character doesnt get XP.

You mean like most JRPGs? I can't think of an RPG where dead characters get experience. Really weird complaint tbhso yeah, if your character is dead while you land the final blow to the boss, that character doesnt get XP.

Yeah, that was my first thought. This looks like artifacting from a broken or overheating GFX card probably not the game's fault.
Looking back at the Disgaea PC release which also ended up being a paid beta, they'll likely "make up" for the problems with free TF2 hats or possibly Dota hats like they did with Disgaea. I mean, who doesn't love a good hat?they won't release a statement about this themselves, it would probably scare away potential publishers for the future if they see how public they take a stand against partners. But they certainly know between the abysmal review score on Steam and big Japanese media outlets picking it up from the get go.
And there is a reason that NISA finally started working on their port. It's just fucked up they made this a paid public beta.
Party members live with 1 hp no mater what as long as you are not controlling them tag out.so yeah, if your character is dead while you land the final blow to the boss, that character doesnt get XP.

There's a couple that do, but I can't remember them off the top of my head at the moment. But yeah, like 95%+ of them don't give EXP if you're dead. You mean like most JRPGs? I can't think of an RPG where dead characters get experience. Really weird complaint tbh
i don't know the details of that Disgaea port but every port by NISA i've looked into seems to have been some kind of messLooking back at the Disgaea PC release which also ended up being a paid beta, they'll likely "make up" for the problems with free TF2 hats or possibly Dota hats like they did with Disgaea. Yeah I'm sure there are a few exceptions but it's weird to expect the game to award a dead character exp. There's a couple that do, but I can't remember them off the top of my head at the moment. But yeah, like 95%+ of them don't give EXP if you're dead.
The only ones I've played from them that I had huge problems with was the launch version of Disgaea and Ys VIII. Besides that I've had little to no problems with their games like Yomawari and Operation Abyss. I do remember Birthdays the Beginning coming out to negative reaction, never played it and have no idea if that's changed.i don't know the details of that Disgaea port but every port by NISA i've looked into seems to have been some kind of mess
Hummel shines more on the higher difficulties he actually gets a really strong ranged attack you can progress safely with, his ult is SUPRER strong and a move he gets later where he shoots a multi hitting explosion that does a ton of damageI must say I like Hummel's English voice. I love quiet low voices (my eternal love is still Alvis (Xenoblade)). I'm just not a fan of his combat style (and for piercing damage I prefer "oujo sama" girl).
I just unlocked the little girl with green hair. Usually I don't like this type of character but she's adorable. The story is nice, fights are cool, I really like the game so far.
6 and noLol I didn't even remember his special skill, he already disappeared. I hope to get him back soon, I want to know more about him.
Can we unlock more outfits in the game (not DLC) ? Atm I just got a recolor.
How many playable characters can we have ? I don't want to spoil myself with Google.
Isn't Hummel's English voice Sean Chiplock (Rean)?I must say I like Hummel's English voice. I love quiet low voices (my eternal love is still Alvis (Xenoblade)). I'm just not a fan of his combat style (and for piercing damage I prefer "oujo sama" girl).

Like in most JRPGs...? o.Oso yeah, if your character is dead while you land the final blow to the boss, that character doesnt get XP.
this is the dumbest system i can remember in past 5 years
Hahaha
its unnecessary annoyance to use 100hp/revive berries on downed teammates. like, there are so many revive items in this game that i dont even understand the point of that system other than to annoy you. i know its a thing in most jrpgs, it still doesnt make any more sense why it exists, especially in this gameParty members live with 1 hp no mater what as long as you are not controlling them tag out.
There is zero reason a dead party member should gain exp specially when you level up really fast in relation to things higher level than you they will catch up
Too slow, that stuff is more about stringing together combos and stuff. Ys is about reacting to things nonstop at breakneck speeds.
i play on hard.Idk what difficulty you are playing on but if you are "bored " then Ill assume normal. Let alone talking about how borring it is while you have party members dying is pretty laughable
the fact that you level fast still doesnt explain why this system has to be in the game at all. but it seems you cant make an argument without giving backhanded insults to people who may not completely fall in love with the gameAfter you beat a boss it is stupid easy to level up the character that missed out on XP. You don't even need to have them as the lead character they'll level up fast just fine as a secondary. Looks like salt is clouding your thought process.
It's an Ys game, the series is literally based around avoiding attacks at all cost because they near one-two shot youi play on hard.
i'd play on inferno but i'd rather just play the game than become a dodge master.
Don't get hit? Tag out and use another character instead of fighting at low life? I mean I beat the game with no healing items I had to let some characters stay dead. It didn't affect my playthroughcharacters dying to attack that removes 60% of your hp when boss at 3% hp, let me pause that game and revive my active character to finish off that 3% so it doesnt miss out on xp. that mechanic serves no purpose. at all. and can you like, quit that "you are a scrub" attitude of yours?
then dont spawn 500 trash mobs at every corner that respawn everytime you re-enter the area and instead make the game about killing less, but more meaningful and powerful enemies? It's an Ys game, the series is literally based around avoiding attacks at all cost because they near one shot you
Well you see, if you actually killed said mobs along the way you get stronger, oh and if you max out your weapons asap you are super strong as well then you can hack through zones super fast. Like you are literally complaining about a zone taking 4 minutes to get through compared to 2.then dont spawn 500 trash mobs at every corner that respawn everytime you re-enter the area and instead make the game about killing less, but more meaningful and powerful enemies?
i turned inferno off after i died to offscreen projectile from a trash mob for whatever time. i dont want to traverse massive areas filled with trash respawning mobs slowly, that is just a grind. i value my time.
see, i'd kill said mobs if it took me anything more than press rb+button _once_Like you are literally complaining about a zone taking 4 minutes to get through compared to 2.
your point was to excuse bad mechanic because its not a deal breaker factor. that doesnt make a fine point tbh, thats fixing a problem with duct tape
This isn't even remotely true the game hassee, i'd kill said mobs if it took me anything more than press rb+button _once_
its just so booooooooring. like, trash is so easy it hurts. and they dont even give you cool moves to use on those trash mobs for half of the game. whack smack slash for hours and hours.
boss fights are fun and its indeed when combat is the best but boss fights are small fragment of the game.
maybe Ys games are just not for me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
there are many bosses but fights themselves dont take too long.
You are no where near the end of the game, you still have about 30-45 hours to gothere are many bosses but fights themselves dont take too long.
i got to chapter 4 with 100% map completition on all areas so i believe i fought all the bosses that were present so far. (correct me if i am wrong)
this is why i went to post in this thread. i am on hour 14 and game is already wearing me down. meanwhile with berseria i felt that only after like 60 hours and even still game had me hooked. You are no where near the end of the game, you still have about 30-45 hours to go
i cant because i skip all the monster loot to craft them lol. i just have what i gathered while dashing.and are chugging healing items meaning you are brute forcing them.
Yes and Yesdoes story pick up in pace later on? or its just more dungeons?.
....there are so many bosses in this game, no idea what you are on about.see, i'd kill said mobs if it took me anything more than press rb+button _once_

They said they barely cleared chapter 4 so that means they seen less than 1/3rd of the bosses in the game :P....there are so many bosses in this game, no idea what you are on about.
