Got the X930E and it's a great TV. Coming from a Panny plasma, I was a little worried, but honestly the difference in black levels aren't that noticeable in most scenes, and everything else more than makes up for it. Great upgrade!

A few issues though. I wanted to check out some HDR gaming on PC, but after 30-60 seconds the game is minimized if I'm running exclusive full screen even if I disconnect the other screen. Tried messing with the settings in nvidia control panel, but with both YCbCr422 and RGB I get the issue. Also I couldn't manage to force 10 bit RGB by switching from 422 to RGB. I'm using the ps4 pro hdmi cable so it should be fine. Hopefully just a driver issue.
Second issue is the TV needs to be turned on at all times, otherwise my PC screen will turn off and back on every couple minutes. Tried with the Bravia Sync setting both on and off, but the issue remains.

So kindof a bunk for PC gaming, but PS4 games look amazing, so I'll probably get most big games there this autumn!
Well I fixed my issue with full screen games dropping to desktop! Turns out Java was running for some reason and was firing every minute, and when I killed Java problem went away. So now I'm scanning my pc for nasties, but HDR pc gaming is back on the menu for fall releases! I felt kinda bad having a 1080ti and not being able to use it fully...

Planet Earth II looks ridiculously good on my x900f.

The HDR on this TV looks so much better than on the Samsung 6290 I had. Like going from SD to HD for the first time.

Proper HDR is probably the biggest leap in image quality I've ever seen.

And planet earth 2 isn't even a particularly great show for HDR or resolution. Grab yourself some other movies

So I notice that sometimes on my TCL, Xbox dashboard tiles almost smear when I scroll around. Is that normal, for game mode etc.?

My old Panasonic plasma used to do that, when I moved whole pages around.
Now you mention it I don't see it on my new tv.

I wonder if it's FRC kicking in. Have you got your TV set to 10 or 12 bit?

IIRC many people in here say PE2 is THE reference disc for HDR. Is that not true?

Not really, it was mastered in HLG and converted to St2084 and it's peak brightness across the content is approx 600nits.
It's super pretty and an amazing show, but it looks almost as amazing on the 1080p Blu Ray

Bought Argos' last LG B7 in the area it seems, will be collecting it tomorrow. Didn't dare risk waiting any longer for price drops, and now the online store has no B7's for delivery or even in any stores to collect now so I feel pretty lucky - talking to customer service, they said they won't be getting any more in. Should be a nice upgrade from my Samsung PS-4296HD

Starting a

Little Google fu and it seems to check out. So strange that it lets you set it , when most shouldn't touch it.
Quite a few TCL sets are 8bit+FRCThe P is 8-bit+FRC.

I mean, I don't atually know if the FRC causes that, but as the Plasmas were usually 6bit+FRC, it would have made sense I saw a similar thing. FRC is s temporal process, so it would make sense that was why I would see it on dark black tiles if I scrolled them very fast

I ordered the Q6 65" fam. Went in store and compared the Q6/7 and while I do think the Q7 looks slightly better overall and I like the central wire box I realized that's not enough to justify the cost difference for me.

But man it looks good. I'm excite.

Hit me with those calibration guides / setup tips.

wow and it looks incredible, can't wait to try other movies.

I already have a few 4k discs and an XB1X, but the Samsung 6290 I had didn't really do HDR, to the point I preferred to watch those movies with HDR off.

I would love your input on which movies do HDR well out of the ones I own:

Christopher Nolan Collection
Blade Runner
Blade Runner 2049
Arrival
Star Wars 8
Spider Man Homecoming
Thor 3
GOTG2
Logan
Wonder Woman
Black Panther (already saw this one with the new TV and thought it looked great)

Would also love to know which movies (that I don't already own) are considered really good 4K/HDR.

(sorry if I'm asking for too much, I'm in love with HDR and want more!)

Nolan's stuff is all really good. He's a pretty big stickler for image quality. Just finished Dark Knight and it includes all the original IMAX footage which looks super sharp.

Is there any one reference disc you do recommend then?

Literally the only 4K HDR disc I have is Kimi no na wa, lol

I watched Tomb Raider in Dolby Vision a couple of nights ago and the image quality was insane. It is a great demo 4K UHD disc. Movie itself was mediocre.

No it's not reference, I don't know why people call it that, when there are tons of soft/grainy aerial shots! That is not reference.

I'll add In The Greatest Showman, and John Wick 2, Gladiator, The Matrix and Saving Private Ryan.

I use HDR at 1440p most of the time.
Example of PC games where I use it:

- Destiny 2
- AC: Origins
- Resident Evil 7
IIRC 1440p HDR never worked for me until the April Windows update. Now, it works but Windows keeps rendering at 3840x2160 and gives me a smaller box instead of a scaled, fullscreen 1440p display when in HDR. I believe this only affected exclusive, fullscreen games.

Yeah got it all setup right. Works fine. Just not taken by HDR bar colours on he Apple TV so far. Got 40 films on it

Any that stand out as good to you for HDR?

My two most recent are, Logan and The Greatest Showman, Logan has some properly stunning night scenes, and TGS really shows off WCG with some lovely effects. All with fantastic blacks.

Okay this is a bit offtopic but for some it might still be interesting.

In early June, Philips added a gaming mode for its Hue lamps. Now you can build a kind of Ambi Light with the Hue lamps. That effect really blew my mind. It reminds a bit of Microsoft's IllumiRoom.

For the installation you need Philips Hue lamps, and a Pc or Mac with the Hue software. The software tracks the colors of your monitor and displays them with the lamps. With a little trick you can not only play PC games on your monitor or TV with Ambilight, but also with the Xbox and Ps4 thanks to remote. You simply stream from the console to your computer and it sends the signal to the lamps at your TV.

I made a little video of my Ps4 interface last night. I'm gonna do another one tonight playing.

I think it's really good and it strengthens the immersion.

While the film is garbage, the Transformers: The Last Knight is a very over-the-top HDR showcase of neon colours and bright highlights.

Resi 7 and banding on a B7 LG man holy shit. Had to change to 420 12bpc to iron it out. Everything else looks amazing but looking down the dimly lit hallway was like 240p compression soup.
